- The first step in a room decorating that I am taking on! I love the baroque style and I wanted to be able to replicate it at whim since I didn't forsee being able to find the pieces ready made for a cheap price. Here I share how I was able to do it!

Finally found a video that showed exactly what I wanted. Turning a plain frame into an ornate Victorian or Baroque style! I kept seeing videos of painting gold leaf, and antique gold but nothing like what I searched for. Finally, I bought quick air-drying clay and found smaller moulds to use on my 8 by 12" picture frame. I had to make several of the vine design in the moulds as I wanted enough to cover the entire frame. I bought the corners on Wish as they have several sizes and designs. It lasted too but finding a mould big enough to cover that size frame for myself wasn't easy. Now I saw your video and I think I will give this a try. I am wondering how you made out with designing your room in the pink baroque style. Would love to see it. Thanks for this video!
Apparently I’m late to finding this great tutorial as it was posted 4 years ago lol but glad I did. Perhaps it will turn into an advantage…so after 4 years how are the mouldings holding up and looking? Would you still recommend the same compound or maybe a new medium? Basically have you changed anything like products used or techniques or maybe easier ways to create equal beauty? Congratulations on your first diy video and thank you for everything!

Aw I'm just now seeing this and thank you! Honestly, in four years, I've lost track of this piece overall. I know it's still in a box of my stored belongings. It survived at least one move and into storage after that, so they stuck pretty well. And even when I believe one came off, it came off in one piece and I was able to glue it back on without issue. I probably wouldn't change anything, tbh, with the way it held up. And so far as ease, people suggested using molds or some such, but as I've never tried it, I can't be certain it would work. I would worry about the adhesion of the two as it wouldn't conform to the ridges of the frame. Perhaps in a flat frame it wouldn't matter.

Christine Baker this would be much easier getting premade filigree you can buy on amazon or buy molds and make your own then glue them on. Super easy and they come out much cleaner and nicer.
@@belyndaca The corner ones work well, but for the sides of a frame, they didn't. I had to use clay but the mould was very small so I had to do several indentations of the clay in the mould just to get an 8 by 12 frame done. I think her way is better and faster. Unless you are working on small frames then the filigree would work.
Could you put joint compound into silicone cake molds and then glue the dried pieces to the frame? They have many large filigree pieces that would look nice on a frame and that seems a lot easier than piping freehand.
I used the quick-drying clay in the silicone moulds but I couldn't find a mould large enough for the 8 by 12 inch frame that I wanted to be very ornate. So I had to reuse the small mould several times which did work but her way is easier. I wasn't able to find anyone that sold large moulds for bigger frames, only small frames. I tried Etsy, Ebay and the craft stores.

Watched the video and wanted to fast forward to the final..it turned out so beautiful, I too am fond of pink baroque and haven't done much to my apt walls because I have concrete squares, and I had to think how can you hang in concrete, MAYBE IT'S A GREAT IDEA I SAW THIS VIDEO FOR THAT REASON, I'm going to try the joint compound for the frames. Can you use all purpose acrylic filler instead? Or does that dry too quickly?

where do you get the base frames?
I actually got this one from my grandfather's estate. But I often find them in church rummage sales, yard sales or thrift shops such as Goodwill.
what pink spray paint did you use?
