I bought the Gen 1 the week before I stumbled upon a Gen2 11732 at my LEO store. It was the only one they'd received in the last 9 months and they asked it I ordered it, because I asked about it an hour after it arrived. The guy said "I don't know why we got it" to which I replied " it was meant for me". I got it for $2040, and was thrilled to get it with every option they had. That said, I think it's a significant improvement. The enlarged bolt and release are great, the handguard feels comfortable and I like that I can add accessories. The stock is hideous, but very practical and I like it better than the skeletonized version in both looks and practically. I also didn't have to worry about 922r or pay the ridiculous prices for Benelli upgrades. I sold my Gen 1 a week after purchasing it and I'm very happy with this configuration. Great video!
Got a benelli m4 h2o model with a traditional stock (no pistol grip) and after about $300-500 in accessories, I love it 😍! Best 2k + a spent ! Buy once cry once and then rejoice 😊!!!
The m4 is the only auto loading shotgun id go to war with. Its so much fun to shoot. The rail system on the general looks proprietary. I hate when companies do that nonsense. I know you can change it, but they're going to make you pay for it. Just use mlok and be done with it. Instead of having to buy "benelli" branded rail sections or whatever.
the Gen2 multi-rail is not Mlok, but you can add a screw-in pic rail for mounting lights, etc. i love the updates to the new Gen 2 - plus the front Tritium night sight; big bonus for home security Gen2 IS heavier btw; 11lbs vs 9lbs, but keep in mind this is not a hunting gun; it’s all about smashing doors, military, and home security larger receiver handle and button - something many people upgrade on their Gen1; handrail - also another thing people add to avoid that thumb burn you get on Gen1; choke is about the only con i could think of. sling mount is not an issue imo.
Love My Benelli shotguns. I have the M1, M3 and M4. Looking to complete my Benelli's family and buy an M2. The M4 would be my favorite with M1 a close 2nd
I have the limited edition M1014 and issued a Benelli M4 SBS at work. I prefer the look of the Gen 1. The only problem I've had has the stock rotate and partially collapse under rapid fire. My cheek was hitting the stock button I suppose.
I’m glad I bought my M1014 before the update. I don’t like the new look. It would have been nice to see similar improvements without such a drastic change to the aesthetics.
I have an older 1014 and I love it. I’ve tried a variety of auto loading shotguns and none compare to the m4. Super reliable and easy to run fast. I sold most of my other shotguns except for my old Winchester riot guns.
If you ever have to carry it much, the M2 will quickly have you won over. I own them all and the M2 is my favorite for actual use. The extra recoil is noticeable, but it’s not unmanageable. I’m a hunter as much as a shooter, and I’ve put thousands upon thousands of high-brass, high velocity waterfowl loads through M2s without any complaints. Waterfowl loads are just about as stout (some equally as stout) as buck. That said, the M4 is an iconic must-have. And the M3 is just plain cool.
I got my new M4 in September of 2022 and is the late production gen 1 type, and I put parts on it from Taran Tactical ( shell lifter, safety) and oversized cocking handle and bolt release from GG&G, And a impact weapons front QD sling attachment and short Picitinny rail , and holosun 507K X2 rds. I wanted one for decades, and soo happy to finally have one. I have 6 screw in chokes now… my first shotgun with screw ins. I will pass on the new forend, and the new style slider stock. I like my M1014 rear stock.
Get that Commie optic off of that gun. The gun deserves better. Why on earth people buy products from companies that they know 1) use stolen IP, and 2) directly (not indirectly) fund the Chinese military industrial complex is beyond me.
What you're calling a Gen 2 is the T Pro line for LE use. Not all Benelli dealers have access to this. With its upgrades, it actually is more cost effective than buying a $500 Turkish gun and adding the upgrades. The fore grip is not M-Lok.
I’m wondering if there are options for cheek pads for this stock as I couldn’t find any. I’ll pit the red dot on the rail and it will air higher than Iron sights with no cowotness. It would be nice to have an opinion for cheek rest rise.
Having No Removable Chokes is the deal breaker for the "Gen 2" and the original polymer grips, once stippled are fantastic ! Wonder if the the "Gen 1" polymer handgrips would fit on the "Gen 2" ?? Could you try it ?? I don't see why not ?? TY
Interesting but I just see the fore end improvement as being far less useable than the Briley or B&T items because of the large number of mounting points they offer.
Well its a fact it's less usable bc u can't do direct attach mlok accessories, u need a picatinny in between. Waste of weight and space and less convenient.
If my m4 weighed the same as my m1 it would be perfect I love the m1 but she kicks a little. The m3 is nice but I think it's just too much going on . Geissele makes a nice sling swivel its rubber coated and it doesn't rattle around.
beretta 1301 has been the RAGE over the last few years. i might bite with the announcement of this new a300 ultima patrol for under a grand. especially in the tiger stripe. im guessing the fn slp is dead because i havent heard anyone talk about it for the last 10 years.
Funny thing about those. Back in 2011 or so, a pistol grip was classified as a 'sporting feature' for a shotgun. That is why Saigas and VEPR12s with PGs started being imported....at least until the sanctions. Still, PG guns from Turkey are coming in today.
As long as Benelli still have the existing contract with USMC ..Nothing will change on this shotgun. This model (Gen 2) is just a customized version (spin-off) of the original model with probably more "spin-off" versions to come down the road ! LOL
Keep up the good work 👍, question have you ever thought about publishing some books with your knowledge on firearms it would be a good way to spread and preserve that knowledge. Maybe also make some extra money.
I honestly think youtube reaches more people than books today. Also, all books now day are printed in China, where the CCP has ultimate authority over what gets said and what does not.
I own a Gen 1 M4 11715. I have shot an M4 Gen 2 variant, with the metal hand guard. I still prefer the Gen 1 model. Here’s why: Both shotguns get hot near the hand guard. But the new hand guard gets hot, much quicker. Benelli also didn’t thread any of these new Gen 2 models. So you’re stuck with a fixed choke. Huge L. I use mine primarily for hog hunting and use a very simply Surefire Vampire mount + QD swivel adapter from Impact Weapon Systems. It keeps things much lighter than the new alloy hand guard light and lets me use my Vampire while hog hunting with NVG’s. There’s a huge aftermarket for very nice steel & titanium extended controls that are significantly cheaper/better than Benelli’s Gen 2 controls. Finally, and this is subjective, but the new stocks are just so ugly. The overwhelming majority of people run the standard 3 position stock at full extension. The 6 positions is cool but you’re really short, you likely won’t use it. These Gen 2’s also apparently have DLC coated firing pins, which is super nice. But then again, there’s never been any reported issues with non-coated firing pins. Anyways! Just my thoughts. I’d save the cash and grab a Gen 1 while it’s possible. Namely the 11715, which is considered the “Grail” of the M4 series.
I usually like having more options for rails but the gen 2 benelli m4 took it too far, ruined the look, and makes the gun look cheap not classy. I do not like the new stock either and prefer the gen 1 easily, and a fixed choke takes away your option of choice for the gen 2 which is a bad thing.
Ok, here comes the hate! I bought an M4 clone, specifically the Panzer Arms M4. I know some of the “Turkenelli’s do not preform well. The only problem i’ve had after 30 rds is failure to cycle low power low brass. It has functioned 100%. with high brass. It is a blast to shoot and at 1/4 the price of the Benelli. And as Mish says, why not!
my m4 and m3 cycle everything, even target loads. yours might wear in over time just like my m3 took about 200 to cycle low brass. m4 is close to 3k down the pipe with 100% reliability with all kinds of normal (2 3/4, 3in) ammo
Yeah, the real deal M4 cycles everything from target shot up to 3” 15 pellet 00 Magnum. Hundreds of rounds and no malfunction. The Turk guns simply are not the same.
Well, my little nephew bought one of those. Lets just say don't celebrate yours until you cross the 500 round mark. Video on that whole thing coming soon.
Same here. I don't have one yet and I want to get the LE version, but now I'm paranoid that by the time can afford one, these new ones will be the ones that are the most available, and the old ones will go up in value. Hopefully they don't phase the other models out anytime soon. I can't stand the way this gen 2 looks honestly. Both the stock and the handguard. I don't care about the extra practicality, I want that M1014 look and feel.
