Cmon mane I'm from the bay & I like this dude, I don't think he's trying to exploit the genre I actually think he is just being himself homie. He's a sincere artist & a dope mc period black white or purple
G isn't talking about things he didn't live. He's not pretending to be someone he isn't. He clearly has respect for the game and those who came before him. He's NOT Iggy Azalea.
I absolutely love how he has a handful of songs that are about the girls he loved but let slip away and is pretty much saying he's sorry and that he still loves them but also has those songs that are about partying and having fun with your friends haha
Chike Walker He does sound a little like drake is certain aspects but lets be real.. Who was stealing G Eazys music in 2010? Drake was, its odd though. Now they are friends.
my uncle was a dj from the 80s and my dad was good friends with breal from cypress hill. i grew up listening to hip hop from a tribe called quest to wu tang to hieroglyphics. hip hop is amazing! no matter what generation its from. is all meant to inspire and thats what g eazy is doing aswell
hajeraa Glad you all learned something. Present day hip hop isn’t “true hip hop”. Very few young artist know the legacy. Keep learning and researching. We are proud of G-Eazy in the Bay! We only accept those that know history here!

I have this shit on my brain so I'm gonna share it. Have y'all ever heard "White people stealing black people music." some of y'all have some of y'all haven't. I appreciate the black culture for influencing all these kinds of genres of music that evolved into rap and hip hop, my favorite genre of music. I don't appreciate hearing that white people are stealing hip hop and rap because they're participating in the art. There's not a list of things that's divided between white and black people, if there was it'd be childish as hell. I also find it fucked up when people say they don't like a rap artist because they're white. G-Eazy has a nice ass flow, I admit some of his songs are modernized to most of the popular rap we here today, which I don't particularly enjoy, but all in all he makes some of the best beats and shares some amazing lyrics. Can't we all agree that rap is bomb af and that anyone that enjoys it and is inspired by it can indulge and make it their career despite the color of their skin.
Alexis H It's not that nobody that isn't black can't or shouldn't rap, it's that a white man can produce profits at a faster rate than a black rapper. This is historically true, Elvis, Eminem, Macklemore, Iggy, Beach Boys- a lot of white artists have profited by stealing from black musicians . I haven't looked too much into G Eazy, but it's alot important to note the political relevance of hip hop, and that if a white rapper wants to profit off of hip-hop he needs to speak about black issues. It comes down again to loving black culture and wanting to exploit it without doing anything for the black community. So yeah anyone can enjoy rap/hip hop but there is something still ill about a white man profiting off of it when this country still doesn't give a damn about black lives.
echoesinla 2pac, Mike Jackson, Biggie, Jimi Hendrix, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Billy Holiday etcetera. "Historically true" and you mention Macklemore, Iggy and Eminem. And none of them stole from black musicians. Did they steal their lyrics? No, they were a part of the culture. They were just different coloured. I can't speak on Iggy or Macklemore, but they can't represent all white people into hip hop
+echoesinla I gotta say it'd be extremely hard for a white rapper to talk about black issues because almost every time they can't relate. It'd be too hard to convey a message that you can't relate to, and ultimately the artist would more than likely receive a lot of flack for trying to relate and come off as a try hard. Most people wouldn't look at it like "I see what you're trying to say, but you kinda missed that mark. A for effort though." type of way which would just hurt the artist more. So overall it'd be better for them to stick to what they can relate to as that is mainly what music is about. Also, try and look at all the success that black culture has had in hip hop compared to white rappers and be proud in that.
+echoesinla saying Macklemore profited from stealing from black musicians is like saying Lyndon Johnson was against Civil Rights. You're just a moron making ignorant statements. Macklemore did his shit totally independently, fucking groundbreaking. He felt bad when he beat Kendricks album when his album was in itself incredible if you actually bothered to listen to the whole thing. Listen to The Language of My World. Do some research. I'm not even going to get into Eminem. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Saying Eminem and Macklemore are stealing from black culture is just soooo stupid man why would you spread that hate?
I mean no disrespect and I don't think Pac was THE rap god. He was an amazing lyricist and made dope records but I personally like Andre 3000 more. Pac is one of the greatest artists in music of all time. But in MY PERSONAL opinion I like Andre 3000 more. His stuff just does it better for ME.

Anyways, I truly just think if you're a producer from the bay you can make it as a rapper it's much harder. The whole being associated with hyphy movement and constantly bringing it up thing makes people think we're just that and not many get it. Many people hate it as a matter of fact.

Rappin is a dream and a job, there's no specific things you need to be a rapper, anyone can be a rapper and it doesn't matter white, black, asian, Hispanic, Indian, race doesn't matter at all
I'm so glad they touched (as slight as it was) on the whole Mustard vs. The Bay deal. Truth be told, Mustard is doing his thing on production but unfortunately that sound was established in the Bay and people are eating it up when it's been done. The part that gets me is that when "The Motto" dropped, he interviewed and stated that the sound was L.A. aka Ratchet Music and passed it off as something he created....which is far from the truth for obvious reasons. So much more to this and I wish more would talk about it. Respect to F.A.B. for speaking up. What ya'll think?
I find it funny how black folks always bash white folks for being racist when theyre the most racist people on earth. Poor me Im black my lifes hard. Everyones life is hard, grow up. Will the crying ever stop when will people take responsibility for own lives and stop blaiming everything on Whitey. My folks were stone junkies and my pops used to beat me. Bloody Ive been on my own since I was 15 and Im doing fine. I spent 7 years inside and was homeless for 9 months and never once did I blaime anyone bur myself.
"Most racist people on the planet", lol. Come back your has been subjected to over 300 years of slavery, then brutality violent segregation. Even in Africa, the White Man still segregated black Africans in there own land. If inhumane acts of rape, torture and murder isn't racially charged I don't know what is.
Every race on this planet has been slaves, the past is the past and any obstacles that a man faces shouldnt hold them back it should make them stronger. Racism from any race is bullshit but nobody from this generation has anyone to blame but themselves for being poor. Its rich folks from all races. Every man thats over the age of 18 has the ability to be anything he wants you just have to be willing to do the work. Im a 2 times felon and ive been clean 12 years and in that time Ive managed to buy a home hold down a good job that took me years to get but I got it,I just had to leave my past in the past and not look back. Time for Americans to grow up and take responsibility for theyre own lives, the blame games is pointless. If your getting fucked with by the Police chances are your doing shit illegal same goes for not having a good clean life you have to be willing to play the game.
Macc Mosley Stop Just stop Macc you don't know what you are talking about... I get tired of people declaring how AFRICAN AMERICANS should feel about their past and how it doesn't effect them today .Especially with all the crap that is happening in America right now... (and yes I am referring to black on black crime too) Not just police brutality. What I am about to type may be a little long but please read it if you get the chance... I understand what you are trying to say Macc but what you have to understand is that African AMERICANS have been made fun of for African American Vernacular English for years . So to see other races doing it is ironic...Imitation is the highest form of flattery so quite frankly I don't give a fuck who "raps" and most blacks don't but but to ignore certain aspects of black culture is just niave and dumb. And yes I am talking about the imitation of black women and men you have "Amos 'n' Andy"(which touches on black-face which is a whole other topic in itself) Lets take a brief look at little American history to understand why some get annoyed with the whole "I had a hard time in life too" and the you were "not slaves... your ancestors were so you shouldn't care" debate. Blacks had to go so much through bull-crap in America before and after slavery ended. Black's in America were left with NOTHING! African Americans had to go through hell just to make it to poverty...Yes I said POVERTY... and yes there were great leaders such as Malcolm X , Dr. King, Marcus Garvey and countless others but the problem was so widespread that there were disagreements on how to handle the Black American Plight.Meanwhile blacks were still being treated unfairly during the segregation phase while other minority groups (regardless of race) had received reparations and other advantages so they didn't have to deal with the subconscious mind creating unconscious bias and discrimination based on skin color... (Look up the brown paper bag test)... There were tons of "legal" lynchings that were never reported hence the song (strange fruit) and countless rapes, murders and injustices done to blacks in America and yes the trickle down effect is real that is why it still effects most blacks today... The conditioning and brainwashing of the black community itself because of Willie lynch syndrome coupled with drugs and poverty trained those in poverty... to just not care, and to not value life as much and this way of thinking just passed down because it was NEVER addressed and believe it or not all of this was NOT that long ago... I am not saying that Africans (and other races) in Europe, Canada and other places in the world don't have to face prejudices but the history IS NOT the same...that is why most black's in other regions of the world know their background...Africans (all types) , Jamaicans, Trinidadians , and countless others can pretty much tell you about their roots... Blacks in America had there culture stolen. So African AMERICAN culture was created through many other avenues...Such as R&B, hip hop, style of clothing, African American Soul food, African American Vernacular English otherwise known as Ebonics(that people LOVE to imitate), Kwanzaa, and The Gullah people. All of these thing's positive or negative make up the Black experience in America. So while most blacks don't give a shit about white rappers (especially ones that are talented and come from a genuine place) please understand and respect some aspects of the culture before you comment... There is so much I could say, and I am sure I left out many great points but I think you get the idea... Dang... I wasn't trying to write an essay (but I guess I kind of did ) LOL....Peace and Blessings :)
Everything you said is true but unfortunately it's true of every race on the planet, what about the Jews, what about the Irish when they came to America.the past has past and it's time for people to move on and work on the future.the only way any of this will be fixed is to teach our children the truth about the past and also teach them to be Anti racist, not being racist isn't enough we have to teach them to stand up and shut down all racism. I won't let anyone make any racist remarks around me or mine. My point is it's time for people to take responsibility for their lives. I've been through a lot more than most and I made it out,it took me till I was 30 but I did it.
+Phuck Ducky they arent like 1350, if you go to bathing ape and buy one its a normal price jumper, bit over avergae price for a good jumper, but its being resold for alot
I don't care if you're white or black if your song has a good vibe I'm gonna like it and I'm gonna support you because music has nothing to do with race to me. if anything music is an outlet for people of all backgrounds to come together
He's got some dope shit... I just wonder how come every time the Bay rap scene is brought up, it's always about the hyphy shit... There's much more than that, so much independent history
Lol. All the White folks running up into the comments to complain about Black people rightfully critiquing the erasure of Black content and its creators and the non-existent phenomenon of "reverse racism". It gets me every time.
Fine we'll leave rap but you leave sports, you can't wear nike, you can't watch tv, you can't use electricity. You know since you didn't create it. Just showing you your logic.
You're certainly no authority on logic since the first thing you did was show your ass by using a non sequitur; it's almost as if you forgot that competitive physical activity and mankind have been a thing since people - of various civilizations - came to the conclusion that entertainment and physical fitness go hand-in-hand. The only difference is that White people monopolized the realm of sports (as they eventually did with everything else in society, and that goes for your infallible prioritization of White inventions - which, sorry to break it to you, Lewis Latimer [a Black man] is just as responsible for the creation of the light bulb considering the fact he perfected it) and it carries an insidious under-current of racism , so.. not only are you racist, but you're a complete shit-gibbon too.
+WhiteStoneChild Racism is a system of unearned advantages which have been bestowed upon White people at the disproportionate disadvantages & dehumanization of PoC. Calling White people out on their shit isn't racism. This isn't about your hurt/misplaced feelings & faulty logic.
I have come to the conclusion that the only way humans will get beyond their race issues is if aliens invade earth then we will see how petty and ridiculous many of us have become.
***** i dont think that aliens would, if they were intelligent enough to reach earth, come here to kill all of us... there are plenty of planets to live on ;)
i stopped @ "reverse racism"....there is no such thing, just like there is no "reverse sexism"...the oppressed can not oppress the oppressors....so I'm gonna stop watching before i don't like him....he's a really dope rapper and I'll leave it at that
Leopold's became tower records like 20 years ago. 10 years ago it became a bunch of food vendors. It's, what, a Senore's pizza, a Putinerie, a Karoake spot, and a Schnitzel/Beer spot.
He makes good music that is a different style than other rappers that have come before him. If you don't like him, don't listen, but it would be a shame if you didn't.
Northern Cali classics: E40, in a major way: Three times Krazy Stackin Chips, Brotha lynch hung Season of the sickness, Mac Mal illegal business, Mac dre stooped doodoo dumb, Spice one:Spice 1, Luniz Operation Stackola, Too Short, Born to Mack: Digital Underground, Sex Packets, 2 pac, Me against The World.
If he was from North Philly instead North Oakland it would make a difference in his credibility to a black audience....just reality.....The Bay area is affluent enough to not believe he came up rough
On one hand I think the culture of independent rap is what allows the Bay to be so innovative and experimental, but on the other hand it seems to suffer from a lack of management. There's a ton of independent talent in the Bay but these guys are putting out like 100 songs a year on back-to-back mixtapes. There's not enough editing taking place. They could actually benefit from a label rep around telling them to tighten it up and not just record everything that comes to mind. The good news is that it's cheaper than ever to record your own album and music video, but the bad news is that when there's less skin in the game then the album quality standards tend to drop.
Shari C First of all bitch. Just because I said you look like Madonna, don't mean I called you white. You can be any other race and look like her. How you going to call me ugly when you don't even know how I look like 😂😂
At the end of the day just enjoy whatever music u like yo, it doesn't have to be I have better taste in music than u or I know more than u, just enjoy whatever u hear and if it isn't good then move on it's easy no reason to bash on others taste in music, to me this guy is good not the best but he's good he's making more than I so I can't hate I can just listen and enjoy
doesn't matter what race you are anyone has the ability to write good music. what's on the inside is what truly matters your body is just like container for your soul
Lol no matter what the comments say the dude will continue to get paid, and get famous. The comment section literally has no bare on these people's lives. Now leave nice comments because your hate does nothing but make you look mad at the world.
Yeah Eminem is good and all, he started out from nothing, but He doesn't sing POP, he sings real shit, you see, G, yeah he sings pop, so he is Hip Hop Elvis... Mind your words my ass
I hate the fact that some of the comments before mine are claiming that he is trying to be this rapper or that rapper. G Eazy is G Eazy. He is his own person, with his own style and own talents. He may want to be as successful as the rappers you are mentioning, but he's not dressing like them or talking like them. Its called individuality. Learn it.
Bae area def has their own distinguished sound... and that was after a decade or more. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist any where else, and that music from the Bae area always has that sound, but their def a distinguished/refined "type" of music that when one hears, automatically thinks Bae area. You could say the same for Dirty South rap, young buck, Jody Breeze etc... they have a distinguished sound too. Those regions could even be called sub-genres technically.
+BombasticLove87 Im from the Bay area, been there almost all my life. And i agree, the Bay has its own unique sound. Most people wont be able to explain it in words, but when you hear a bay track, you can hear alot of 80's type beats in it. where not alot of other rappers use too much. specially nowadays. That is because the bay loves and respects old school music, even younger kids respect the older music. that's why the bay has its own sound. LA, NYC and other areas are all mainstream influenced when it comes to hip hop music. But the bay will always have its own sound, regardless of the times. We even contributed a BIG Part to west coast hip hop, yet we get no credit, and no recognition for it. that's why we are very sensitive when it comes to our city.
Having been born in Los Angeles California.... I absolutely love the Bay area keep it up G-Eazy way to represent
Cmon mane I'm from the bay & I like this dude, I don't think he's trying to exploit the genre I actually think he is just being himself homie. He's a sincere artist & a dope mc period black white or purple

Goddamn, he mentioned sitting in that AC Transit bus. Fuck, he's real af for that. Too damn relatable. East Bay cats would know.
💯💯💯💯
G isn't talking about things he didn't live. He's not pretending to be someone he isn't. He clearly has respect for the game and those who came before him. He's NOT Iggy Azalea.

Khaaliq Crowder No. She's trash.

💯💯💯💯
The bay is was and always will be independent. It's where master p got his game from and changed the whole industry.
Not many people know that!! C-Murda had a house in the Hayward hills back in the day, up by Kelly Hill, by sprewell!
Bay Area forever 👏🏻
Never seen such a humble rapper. He deserves so much more than what he has.
I absolutely love how he has a handful of songs that are about the girls he loved but let slip away and is pretty much saying he's sorry and that he still loves them but also has those songs that are about partying and having fun with your friends haha
G eazy is my favorite rapper right now love the song "got it like that"
G-Eazy is a good artist.
Just because he sounds different, doesn't mean it's bad.
Enjoy the Music.

HUGS FROM PALO ALTO ❤️
Daniel Neubauer i meant Oakland or anywhere else in the bay... Sorry I wasn't more clear.
Kind of disappointed that G-Eazy don't know his history on Bay Area scene. He does not mention we had the ball in the 90's Pac, Short, 40, Dre, 3 X crazy, master P etc. But dropped the ball. Plus he don't mention that the hypy sound was a Mac Dre thing not E-40. 40 only capitalized when Dre died.
THANK YOU MY G YOU UNDERSTAND

Ok...every rapper says "At The End Of The Day" a million times in every interview. Who wants to play "At The End Of The Day Drinking Game".
Pulse FX Kevin Hart
How many times did he say "It's like" & "you know what I mean?" ..................
Sometimes I wonder if people can use a complete sentence without saying "like." By the way, your channel is great!
not enough times
It's because he's not very intelligent
It's a verbalized pause. Some do it to fill the silence between words. Lots of people do it and don't even realize it. He is educated and quick witted obviously so this is something he could easily work past.

One question were any of you slaves? You cant blame your life on what happened 100 years ago.
Macc Mosley Stop Just stop Macc you don't know what you are talking about... I get
tired of people declaring how AFRICAN AMERICANS should feel about their
past and how it doesn't effect them today .Especially with all the crap
that is happening in America right now... (and yes I am referring to
black on black crime too) Not just police brutality. What I am about to
type may be a little long but
please read it if you get the chance... I understand what you are
trying to say Macc but what you have to understand is that African
AMERICANS have been made fun of for African American Vernacular
English for years . So to see other races doing it is
ironic...Imitation is the highest form of flattery so quite
frankly I don't give a fuck who "raps" and most blacks don't but but
to ignore certain aspects of black culture is just niave and dumb. And
yes I am talking about the imitation of black women and men you have
"Amos 'n' Andy"(which touches on black-face which is a whole other topic
in itself) Lets take a brief look at little American history to
understand why some get annoyed with the whole "I had a hard time in
life too" and the you were "not slaves... your ancestors were so you
shouldn't care" debate. Blacks had to go so much through bull-crap in
America before and after
slavery ended. Black's in America were left with NOTHING! African
Americans had to go through hell just to make it to poverty...Yes I
said POVERTY... and yes there were great leaders such as Malcolm X , Dr.
King, Marcus Garvey and countless others but the problem was so
widespread that there were disagreements on how to handle the Black
American Plight.Meanwhile blacks were still being treated unfairly
during the segregation phase while other minority groups (regardless of
race) had received
reparations and other advantages so they didn't have to deal with the
subconscious mind
creating unconscious bias and discrimination based on skin color...
(Look up the brown paper bag test)... There were tons of "legal"
lynchings that were never reported hence the song (strange fruit) and
countless rapes, murders and injustices done to blacks in America and
yes the trickle down effect is real that is why it still effects most
blacks today... The conditioning and brainwashing of the black
community itself because
of Willie lynch syndrome coupled with drugs and poverty trained those
in poverty... to just not care, and to not value life as much and this
way of thinking just passed down because it was NEVER addressed and
believe it or not all of this was NOT that long ago... I am not
saying that Africans (and other races) in Europe, Canada and other
places in the world
don't have to face prejudices but the history IS NOT the same...that is
why most black's in other regions of the world know their
background...Africans (all types) , Jamaicans, Trinidadians , and
countless others can pretty much tell you about their roots... Blacks
in America had there culture stolen. So African AMERICAN culture was
created through many other avenues...Such as R&B, hip hop, style of
clothing, African American Soul food, African American Vernacular
English otherwise known as Ebonics(that people LOVE to imitate),
Kwanzaa, and The Gullah people. All of these thing's positive or negative
make up the Black experience in America. So while most blacks don't
give a shit about white rappers (especially ones that are talented and
come from a genuine place) please understand and respect some aspects of
the culture before you comment... There is so much I could say, and I
am sure I left out many great points but I
think you get the idea... Dang... I wasn't trying to write an essay
(but I guess I kind of did ) LOL....Peace and Blessings :)
YO I JUST NOTICED THAT GUY IN THE BACK AND SHAT MYSELF WHO ELSE SAW HIM

I don't care if you're white or black if your song has a good vibe I'm gonna like it and I'm gonna support you because music has nothing to do with race to me. if anything music is an outlet for people of all backgrounds to come together
He's got some dope shit... I just wonder how come every time the Bay rap scene is brought up, it's always about the hyphy shit... There's much more than that, so much independent history
👍💯...GOOD INTERVIEW!

1:17 peep that wink
LifeOnHerTongue ...
+WhiteStoneChild Racism is a system of unearned advantages which have been bestowed upon White people at the disproportionate disadvantages & dehumanization of PoC. Calling White people out on their shit isn't racism. This isn't about your hurt/misplaced feelings & faulty logic.
+LifeOnHerTongue You grouping people people by the color of their skin, and calling what they do "shit", IS racism. By all definitions.
I have come to the conclusion that the only way humans will get beyond their race issues is if aliens invade earth then we will see how petty and ridiculous many of us have become.
Lol werd
+samchez thomasino man no shit, about 5 months ago i came to exactly the same conclusion ;)
***** i dont think that aliens would, if they were intelligent enough to reach earth, come here to kill all of us... there are plenty of planets to live on ;)
samchez thomasino what if Their racist Too?
samchez thomasino That's because that IS what it would take, NOTHING less will ever suffice
2:50 Cali is now two states!
i stopped @ "reverse racism"....there is no such thing, just like there is no "reverse sexism"...the oppressed can not oppress the oppressors....so I'm gonna stop watching before i don't like him....he's a really dope rapper and I'll leave it at that
Trev
Yeah exactly Reverse racism is just racism
Leopold's became tower records like 20 years ago. 10 years ago it became a bunch of food vendors. It's, what, a Senore's pizza, a Putinerie, a Karoake spot, and a Schnitzel/Beer spot.

hip hop fact: G-Eazy and Schoolboy Q went to the same school.
reference: this interview and the song John Muir by Schoolboy q.
I honestly love rap and hip hop but it seems like every day there is a new issue about racism and that's not what the game is about #STANDTOGETHER
Reppin from Hayward California
Interscope records needs to sign him, childish gambino, and logic.

11:49 shout out to my fellow Samoans tho Lmaooo
How can girls not want to FW G-Eazy he's so cute.
elle emca because he doesn't have balls I think

"Swaglord!"
Bahahah my guy G Eazy said Samoans ahhahahah
I hate the fact that some of the comments before mine are claiming that he is trying to be this rapper or that rapper. G Eazy is G Eazy. He is his own person, with his own style and own talents. He may want to be as successful as the rappers you are mentioning, but he's not dressing like them or talking like them.
Its called individuality. Learn it.
He listens to good shit. :o
+Tupac Shakur AND we got our own signature dance, if you dont know how to thizzle dance you aint really part of the bay
(14:19) Stalker!
