Haunted deck is a classic. Did it in a graveyard last year on 2nd November. Built up the traditions and stories all day. It worked a treat. You should call that trick Spirit from Fire! Instead of lighter fuel use a little Brandy. You'll get a creepy blue flame. Boom!! Thanks for the trick Chris.

Chris, I have watched (and bookmarked) a TON of your videos, and heard you mention Spidey a lot ,but had never gone to his site or seen his tricks until now...and I cannot say how happy you both made me with this trick, I mean I am literally in tears right now over this!
You may have read a comment of mine in the past (or not as you get a zillion messages!), but I absolutely love magic, started doing some when I was a kid, but cannot do any of the card tricks or pretty much any of the tricks due to arthritis in my hands...but I was actually able to do THIS trick and am so stoked I cannot even tell you how much this one video itself means to me!
I have now subscribed to Spidey's channel now too, and all I can say is the two of you have made an old dreaming prestidigitation man who had given up on doing more than watching, into one that now has the drive to actually hunt through ALL of both your guys videos, and everywhere else, for other tricks like this that I also can do, and for the first time, this dreamer can actually create a full routine.
From the true bottom of my heart, THANK YOU BOTH!!!!!

Great effect! What you can do and what I like to do is have a folded paper in finger palm at the start with whatever the top card of the deck is - e.g the four of clubs - written on it. Then proceed normal, but instead switch their folded paper with the one in finger palm with the four written on it, and put it in the card box. Then you peek their card while pretending to write your card, as normal. Then when you go through the deck cull their card, placing it second from the top, under the four of clubs. Then proceed with the trick as in the video until you reach the end, where you can take the two pieces of folded paper out of the card box to show that the spectator found the card you wrote and you found the card the spectator wrote. Just a convincer to show that you really did write a card down. You are also left very clean at the end

I haven't seen the tutorial yet but I believe there is a switch of papers in his hand after he picks up your paper that you wrote your card on. Then he pretends to pick one out of the pouch when that is actually yours in his hand. He opens it up and looks at what you wrote and pretends to write his. He burns the evidence after that. Then he secretly puts the card he saw you write on the top of the deck, then he uses a simple card Force on you so that you think he cut randomly to your card. Was I right?

I actually have a variant of this trick I came up with years ago while living in Rochester, NY. I called it 'Ashes to Ashes'. I had the participant do the double cut there to force a card on them. They then write the card down without my seeing it, and burn it in a cup or ashtray. Then I would take the ashes, and do a slap and pull movement across my hand, and there, written in the ashes, would be the card they'd 'randomly chosen'! The secret? Dish soap. Take a bit, and write the card on your hand. Keep it brief, like write the King of Clubs as K(Club Icon). The ashes stick to the soap, making it seem as that broad motion revealed the writing of the spirits. :)

Instead of doing the paper switch like that I’d follow pretty much the same steps: palm the blank paper, pick up the written on paper with the same hand just index and thumb say ur putting back in the bag when ur actually just switching them looks like a little fall of the trick they lose their guard cuz “you lost yours” when indeed it was all meant to go that way

Favorite Halloween trick: One guy showed a king of spades to the spectator. He tore the card into 4 pieces, and restored it back together without showing the face of the card (probably Daniel Garcia Method). After he was done restoring, he then said, "Unfortunately, those resurrected never come to life same as before". He reveals the king of spades with skull face. I thought it was very cool and suitable for Halloween. Do you know where you can get those skull faced cards?
