I tried this and it is FABULOUS! She speaks clearly so the instructions are easy to understand, I now use this for my stainless appliances as well. Thank you so much!
I recently got a beautiful five-arm chandelier from the 1950s. The chandelier was completely dusty and matte. The dust was practically sticking to the glass crystals. So I put the chandelier in the dishwasher for 40 minutes at 40 degrees + a 3 in 1 dishwasher tablet. The result was amazing. The chandelier looks almost like new again and works 😊 I put the chandelier in the sun for two days after washing it so that it dried completely everywhere. I did this a few years ago. At that Time it was a colleague's chandelier. The result was also incredible.
This may be quick but my antique chandelier gets taken apart & each crystal washed in water with isopropryl alcohol & a little Dawn, then rinsed in water with alcohol & dried yearly. I use rubber gloves & lint free cloths. I also bag it when I'm not entertaining to keep the dust off it. It's worth it when people see it and exclaim they've never seen such a beautiful chandelier!!
I love you for using a completely natural "non chemical" product like apple cider. People could save themselves so much money and potential health hazards by turning their backs onto expensive branded household chemicals, while embracing good old simple vinegar instead! BRAVO!!
Very beautiful! Amazing how it simply drip-dries & you don’t have to hand wipe each individual part of the chandelier (that is, like mentioned in this video, if you do this kind of cleaning every quarter, you can get away with just spraying & not wiping 😊👍🏻)
It's a beautiful chandelier, and hard to believe that a bath with water and apple cider vinegar would make it shine that beautifully!!! Thank you for your advice, I'm going to try it on mine!
Sorry but I would never ever do something like this, this will damage the metal wire links and leave a copper tint (Apple vinagre) on the crystals. If you have and expensive chandelier I would totally recommend not to cut corners and take your time and do this correctly by cleaning it piece by piece.
I do have to agree that this could damage the fixture if you used rubbing alcohol not water this would be better as it would evaporate and not rust metal parts. For the amount of work you did taping the bulbs you could have just as easily unscrewed them and slip the boboches off .
Great tips, I like the bags over the bulbs. I use alcohol & water because I don’t like the smell of vinegar. We had so many fires in CA & the soot got in the house so we have to really work to get it off of everything, chandeliers & shower rooms had windows open to vent during showers so even paint needs to be redone. We had to repaint our whole exterior. Thanks for your helpful advice, much appreciated.
Just tried your method , l have two beautiful gold and crystal chandeliers, wish I could show a picture , there are no wires showing and it came out beautiful and sparkling
Thats amazing. I do not have a crystal chandelier but i have a few friends who do. I will pass this on to them. There are not many chandeliers i like. I really, really like yours. Hope you show us the holiday set up when you are done. Any other cleaning or organizing tips? Please share with us.
We been installing all sizes of chandeliers for the past 14 years, and yes sometimes we do theses kind of cleaning, to save $ & time. It doesn't. (Some clients not willing to pay big $ on a large chandelier oh a 20 ft ceiling). Let it dry alone and turn on the switch for 48hrs.
Wow, looks bright and clean. Never thought of using ac vinegar on crystal. When I have rusty tools, I use a solution of vinegar to get the rust off metal.
My chandilere is cleaned every month with the rest of course ! I have had my chandileres for about 16 years and they are worth maby about well over 20 to 25 thousand pounds in today's money 💰 it's because I spend my hard earned money on these beautiful chandileres that are REAL Chrystal !!
My chandelier is dusty...and the pins and crown are soft brass!!! would the vinegar damage the brass? it is soft brass from Check Republic...the crystals fall easily when I dust them bead by bead with a soft sock....any advice for me? I am afraid to clean them!
+F. A. A The vinegar is very diluted when mixed with water so I would test a small area first and see how it takes, then decide from there whether to do the full chandelier.

+Lily Seymour I should ask you if I put mine together correct I bought it on eBay it was definitely together wrong on the bottom with the metal outside . I'm reselling it after restoring it . I think it's together correct but not 100 percent sure Thanks for the cleaning tips . I disassembled it since it wasn't hanging up so it's super clean now no rust all metal fittings refinished . pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=391493422067&globalID=EBAY-US And after pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=191931600785&globalID=EBAY-US
Her children will inherit this beautiful all rusted out metal sticky crystal chandelier, ----this type of fixtures are so easy to clean, they disassemble so easily,! you can even wash each piece with a solution of water and ammonia and can dry out piece by piece and reassemble together in less than two hours, and it can last forever,,,, but not cleaning them like this -SAD- SAD- SAD-
Hi I know this seems like the easy way to do this!! The basic training for cleaning is never spray anything on the item to be cleaned - but onto a cloth first. Also anyone else following this method may use to much fluid hence gather fluid at the base going through to the electrics!! You mention Alcohol too strong for cleaning, any product that is not wiped off with collect in wiring and have a build up on dust causing corrosion of the wire. What you do in your own home is one thing but be careful you know what your doing before letting out a "little knowledge to the public"
Kerry Jazz This is the method that I found from the internet when I searched on cleaning a chandelier, it's not the method I created, I'm just sharing what I found. Thanks for your thoughts and I will keep them in mind when i'm cleaning.
I know that Lily has a Schonbek chandelier because I have a very similar one in my master bedroom. If you go to the Schonbek website, it recommends that you use rubbing alcohol and water. They also warn you not to spray solution at the chandelier to prevent electric shock. I suspect that as long as you cover up the bulbs, and you don't have the chandelier on, you should be fine. I will try this method, but with the alcohol and water solution. I would like to know how she keeps her chandelier from getting dusty. Iwww.schonbek.com/ws/web/sch_clean_crystal.html
Yes you're right it is a Schonbek. Don't you think alcohol is too strong for crystals? I've never had a problem but I have a small chandelier, thanks for commenting.
Please dont laugh, I am serious. Wouldn'tcovering the bulbs with a condom be a lot easier and cover them much better? If you didn't want to do that then fingers from rubber gloves might work. Otherwise this seems like a lot less work than my wife has been doing.
try sandwich bags from the 99cent store to cover bulbs or the free produce bags you get at your local market. Cleaning: you can use a clothes steamer first for stuck-on dirty then the vinegar & water mixture.
I tried this and it is FABULOUS! She speaks clearly so the instructions are easy to understand, I now use this for my stainless appliances as well. Thank you so much!

Looks beautiful! I saw a video hanging an umbrella from the chandelier to catch the water!
Ooh, that is a brilliant idea...

There is a video on youtube about how to clean brass with vinegar.......for the lady with the brass chandelier....
Thanks for making this...super helpful
I was thinking about getting a crystal chandelier for the dining room, but not sure I want one after watching this.
Thank you so much for sharing!💯🌹
I have a metal and crystal chandelier, so will this method work with metal or is it only for crystal? Great tip on covering the bulbs! Beautiful!!!!

very glad to find a way to clean chandelier without buying a dedicated product. Thanks !
Beautiful😍💓

I used this method for Cleaning my Chandler, but the metal design had turned a bit red, what should I do now?
I want to buy one like this this one
Beautiful Chandelier...I use to hate cleaning mine, But I enjoy it now thats what I use. Thanks for sharing...Blessings.Doll
what if the chandelier located at high ceiling? use the REELTECH chandelier lifter, all problem will be solved
Is there something special about apple cider vinegar vs. white vinegar? Maybe the smell factor?
HI
LILY 👀 MORE
SEYMOUR
THANK YOU 💐
You cover the bulbs completely however the base of the candle the water could enter the glass arm and stain the silk covered wire
If you use distilled malt vinegar, you might not get the brown haze........haven't tried tried this......maybe malt vinegar not available in US ?
I have three of those same chandlers in my beauty shop, there from orchard $179.00
This one was from LampsPlus and are real crystals not fake ones
Lily, Do yu think I could do this on a chandelier that has some metal showing?
My chandilere is cleaned every month with the rest of course ! I have had my chandileres for about 16 years and they are worth maby about well over 20 to 25 thousand pounds in today's money 💰 it's because I spend my hard earned money on these beautiful chandileres that are REAL Chrystal !!
Jay Sherry -- I don’t understand your comment??
Have you tried the white glove method?
Gosh I'm about to start spring cleaning and I have so many and live in very old home with high celings. I dread this. 🤦😔
Thanks dose white vinegar will do the jobs also.
where did you get the beautiful chandelier
Why use ACV when regular vinegar is cheaper?
My chandelier is dusty...and the pins and crown are soft brass!!! would the vinegar damage the brass? it is soft brass from Check Republic...the crystals fall easily when I dust them bead by bead with a soft sock....any advice for me? I am afraid to clean them!
+F. A. A The vinegar is very diluted when mixed with water so I would test a small area first and see how it takes, then decide from there whether to do the full chandelier.
I so want to see if I can get away with this method because mine is on the duty side and it will be drag to do the actual "one by one" cleaning.
Just wondering why you don't use white vinegar?
What did you say the name of it was? I have one just like this, but did not know what it's called.
It's a Shonebeck, I might have the spelling wrong.
Hi
i have a Beautiful Chandelier and i just use dishwashing liquid on a clothand it comes up sparkling
so easy 😄
+JAINE CHAPMAN Really... i'll have to try it!
+Lily Seymour
Hi yes please try it mine looks amazing 😃
You do not wipe away the water/vinegar?
I never had thought of the vinegar
Kef103 Dilute it
Where can I find a chandelier like this?
jeme le travaille le listre et lis apliques et avic le bois merci
Why APPLE CIDER Vinegar ? Very much more costly than white vinegar?
STOP BEING SO CHEAP
great....
Yao Zhou Awww thanks!
That vinegar will corrode the wire links… Use alcohol instead with one drop of detergent and water

No, turn off power

yes we can clean it. actually if it is so old it has to do restoration you can call 8123490213 Bangalore
Air compressor
The table has white water spots all over; what do you do about that?
Laura Cullen she said to put a towel underneath to catch the water
malt vinegar is clear
how heavy is that?
Doesn’t it smell of vinegar?
Can you use ordinary vinegar?
+Robby334 Yes, I use the cheap stuff
Will white distilled vinagre work too?
Yep
did u got this chandelier at overstock?
Magz mile No I purchased it in person from a store called Lamps Plus
Tried Lily's method...Oh not good. Brown haze on the crystals and a sticky substance. Took for ever to clean off and did by hand. Over 1,000 pieces.
+mitzi mallon Oh my.... sorry it didn't work for you!
Nice ASMR 😉
A little cup of alcohol and dip in one at a time in cup chandelier still on the results crystal clear

Nope, they assembled it at the lighting company that I bought it from and also installed it in the ceiling for a hefty price as well!
+Lily Seymour I should ask you if I put mine together correct I bought it on eBay it was definitely together wrong on the bottom with the metal outside . I'm reselling it after restoring it . I’m going to have to wipe every inch of my filthy cruddy chandelier. But I got it at an auction for only $50. Yay.
Tooo messy
500dollars? that's too much. i have to say that.LILY.lol
Geez, that same chandelier is going for $215 at JoJoSprings. You were ripped off.
Maybe Fake crystals....
SCHONBEK Crystals are very, very expensive....
