I can tap the board when I get warm, still struggling with the grabs. Been doing yoga and working on mobility. Going to start working on the laying on the back to get a feel because I'm not figuring it out in the air. I think it's a combo of not getting my knees up and grabbing blind.
Yeah you could be right, on a skateboard they reach the whole way over the nose. The crail grab tailslide on coping on a skateboard is one my favs to watch
It is much harder to tuck knee on a snowboard as the stiffness of the boots and bindings make it difficult to roll your back foot over, but I always aim to do it for max style points. It makes nose bones look more stylish for sure! It helps to bring you board up as close to your body as you can, then unleash the tweak! All the best, Rich in Sweden.
My guess is because it doesn’t exist on a skateboard. It’s also a bit harder to do a proper Indy or tail grab (same with stale fish) than a tindy or tail fish
Good question, tindys are prob the coolest of all the taboo grabs (tailfish etc...) I think it's because it's harder to grab between the bindings and because snowboarders like to emulate skateboarding where there is no tindy grab
@@ShredSchool1 The part where you say snowboarders want to emulate skate tricks makes no sense at all. Theres many tricks in snowboarding that you cant do on a skateboard and theres many tricks on a skateboard that you cant do on a snowboard. Theyre both pretty different but sort of similar in a way. Tindy grabs are sick!
Part of the reason is that snowboarding is loosely based on skateboarding (and also surfing), and skateboard tricks heavily influenced people’s perception of “style” on a snowboard. There is no such thing as a “tindy” grab in skateboarding because it’s not physically possible, so it’s just kinda dismissed as a trick in snowboarding. The second reason is that it’s sort of an awkward combo between an Indy grab and a tail/crail grab, while also being somewhat easier than both of them, especially if you account for “tweaking” or “boning out” the grab. For example, tweaking an Indy grab often involves moving your elbow behind your back knee while extending your front leg, and grabbing behind your back binding makes that significantly easier to pull off, so it’s less impressive. But in general it’s just a cultural thing. It’s super arbitrary. Just do whatever you want and have fun with it, but don’t be shocked when other riders criticize you for doing a tindy grab.
I’m betting the majority of “Indy purist” come from the vert skateboard realm. Unlike snowboarding the grab is essential to the maneuver not just a pose for style points. Many feel if your going to rip-off the terminology say it correctly and pay homage to the innovator.
"language is made up" no it isnt, at least not arbitrarily as this sentiment suggests. A better line to attack the indy purists, imo, would be to ask them to be grateful that we snowboarders dont start grabbing all of the places skaters cant and do it in such style that would put them of business. Great video tho
Not arbitrarily, you're right. It's generally adapted from it's initial origin and evolves based on the speaker's use over time. I love the skate origins of snowboarding, I think both us as snowboarders, and skateboarders can be a bit elitist and purist, so just throwing some light shade at the indy purists 😜 thanks for watching!
Your content is just next level. Love the history lesson on trick origins. Awesome!
Thank you shredder!
My go to grab is stalefish, they feel so good when done correctly. I'll have to work on adding more variety to my grabs. Good stuff.
I love a good stalefish
stalefish are badass. tom schaar has a nasty stale fish... on a skateboard tho
Bring back the Tindy! Tindy is love! Tindy is life!

This tutorial is so good, nosebone is so steezy! I thought crail grabs were trailing hand on the nose but maybe that’s just skateboarding

True! If you got em on a skateboard you are a ripper
@@ShredSchool1 oh yes. I even tuck knee my boneless!
Never tie your boots all the way up. :)
I like your content, i like the more advanced tricks explain
noob question: How do you call Indy on a hand stand like the one @ 06:17 ? Any tutorial for that move?
Frontside invert, we have a tutorial for it inside shred school at www.edshreds.com
I haven't ridden in quite a while. Grabbing the nose or tail is out?
Do you have a 180 video? I can't seem to fully rotate and just can't figure it out
yes we do! Check the channel so you can pick frontside or backside
Big fan of your channel. Just wondering what angle stance is your set up? Thanks
Thanks jay. I ride 18 in the front -12 in the back
@Ed Shreds can you make a video on how to jump on side hits? Sometimes, I lose speed and make changing angles harder. Thanks in advance🙂
Are you linus tech tips brother?
I just learned I’ve been doing a stinkbug this entire time
Time to poke it out
Why is tindy frowned upon?
Why is tindy considered a “faux pas” and a “no-grab zone”?
My guess is because it doesn’t exist on a skateboard. It’s also a bit harder to do a proper Indy or tail grab (same with stale fish) than a tindy or tail fish
@@ShredSchool1 I’m okay with the former because snowboarding is just a sidebranch of skiing and skating is for 12yo 😆
In the wise words of Jeff Grosso, "Grab behind your fucking knee!"
More tendies!
Tindys for life!
I think Doug Smith lost his shit by the time you mentioned his name and the term "indy grab" for the 100th time...love it

@@scottdurkee3833 No, but harder than grabbing Tindy

So what is the difference between a stinkbug and actual indie grab 😫
Tweak it out

Makes sense!
That’s not a crail. Look up crail grab and seatbelt and you will be amazed at the difference.
Seatbelt is front hand on the tail
@@ShredSchool1 He's right though, you're still grabbing indy. Crail is backhand nose.
@@agropanda yeah I think it's actually a tailbone
Only good tutorial on this site. Everyone else keeps teaching the stinkbug
