You should do more videos were you just explain stuff besides the usual react content, these are much more valuable and your voice is very relaxing to listen to.
In an aquarium you always catch a loooot of fish. But there is one very dangerous crab-thing called "Allan" that screams "What are you doing? I'm calling security" :(
Thank you so much with this indepth guide for dipnetting. I got my dipnet from jonahs aquarium the other day and you were right, you really can catch any fish with it. I caught my 1st Atlantic bluefin tuna with these simple and easy tips. I used the 1 handed spear technique, it was very hard because as you said, it requires alot of strength to do it but I overcame my adversities and caught it.
I’ve always appreciated your informative and “in the field” content so much, but as someone who was recently reintroduced to fishing, this is a godsend. I’ve only been taught angling, though never liked it as a method given the physical damage it can cause. Everyone i know is only versed in hook and rod, so I never have had good resources for humane alternatives. You definitely alleviated that insecurity!! I’m getting a dipnet asap and trying these techniques in the local bayou
This spring I plan to try dip netting for the first time and do a small survey on a local creek to see what the biodiversity of fish and invertebrates is like. This is actually because of watching your videos over the past year, and being an environmental ecology student I felt the experience would be useful for me. I was wondering if you had any advice as to what to look for when trying to choose locations? Also thank you so much for making this video, it will be so helpful!
I always love these more nerdy videos lol, it's a lot more calming to watch than the normal react vids. I know there aren't as many people who watch these nerdy videos as there are watching reacts, but I'm glad that you're still doing em for the smaller amount of viewers. Also, could you possibly do a collab with cowturtle (eel pit guy)
I have extreme chronic pain from a old spinal surgery that i still get treatment for, despite it ive still been able to manage 5 of my own aquariums but theres allot of nearby bodies of water that id love to identify the wild fish in, is there any type of alternative to dip netting good for that? I dont like hurting fish like my brothers do :P
WOAH Thats amazing. I was always scared to fish because of hook thing, but this looks a lot better. I waited for this video for a long time so I’m so excited that it’s here. I’m still scared that I might hurt the fish by my poor technique So maybe after exams at holidays I will try. I have a lot of ponds and lakes near me Soo maybee that can be a great way to start? Also… my inner fear says that maybe when I would get lost in wild I may need that technique to survive haha. Thank uu AVNJ :3
@@catfishyay relatable. i live in the the west midlands and the fish in my area are pretty average. this year i have caught roach, minnows, sticklebacks, perch and a bullhead sculpin with my dip net but nothing particularly bright or prominent
Catfishes are often hiding in vegetation, undercuts, root wads, or for many Madtom species, in or under rocks. A dipnet works well in these situations using the techniques in this video. Use the "kick seine" technique for madtoms in flowing water. If netting fish at night is legal in your state, North American catfishes are more active after sunset. If not, hook and line after dark can be very effective. Worms or cut bait work well.
In my professional opinion. I say if you wish to catch bigger fish, get a gun to shoot them, this will stun the fish and give you more than enough time to catch them,by net or by hand.
Bro I've only watched four videos of yours and was thinking damn I wish I had a friend like this that's also interested in evolutionary biology. I'm no expert just interested but on the 4th video I seen you had a beanie that said Kansas city. I shit and was like no fucking way are you from 816? I understand this is the strangest, corniest message but it just caught me so off guard.
Well fuck me just found out you are indeed not from Kansas city Missouri and actually your hometown is included in your name and so I could delete this but will allow this sad attempt of searching for any sign of intelligence around me to be laughed at 😢😂.

I didn't have any interest in catching fish until 3 minutes ago.
Now I want dipnetting to be my full-time job
Oh thank god this was uploaded 30 seconds ago, I had a sudden emergency that required dipnetting

I'll probably never do this in my entire life but still watched and enjoyed the entire video. Thanks

Cast net shouldn't hurt you too bad if you modify your throw technique!
I’d love to try this! 10/10 best way to fish recreationally
Love this video. I don't do any fishing but this is such goodness. Never change or stop informing us 😁
Zac, this was really well made, thank you and I hope a lot of people got something from this
This is your best video
I’ve never heard of dipnetting before, but it was still interesting to learn about it from you!
What type of netting technique would you recommend for catching sculpins in rocky tidepools?
Awesome video as always!!!
not AVNJ but i usually sweep the seaweed for any hiding around
Appreciate you making this video. Dipnetting doesn't get a lot of attention compared to standard rod and reel fishing.
You are legit such a G. Thank you for your educational videos!
Awesome video. I definitely want to try this out some time in the future.
YESS!! I’ve been waiting for this one!
Thank you. I watched this video for 30 second, and immediately caught my first whale shark! I highly recommend.
Interesting Lesson. Thank you
ooh new avnj video, very nice and very informative as well
Thanks for making this video for us Zach!
Why does this feel like a high school biology presentation video? It's kinda nostalgic 🆗
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING LMAO.
Where the segment that showed you how to get untangled from a net

I always wanted to know how to dip net correctly, thanks!
This video slaps hard, brother.
found out recently that there is a thermal lake in hungary that has mollies, pumpkinseeds, big american cichlids and jewel cichlids
wish Ireland had biodiversity like that. the only small fish we have are minnows, dace and sticklebacks.

I didn't know you had a tattoo! (it looks awesome!)
Looks like so much fun
Gonna watch this video at double the speed so I can dipnet twice as fast.
I’m going to use this for water snakes and baby turtles

Bomb video. Thanks for the great content.
Very helpful video. Gotta show my daughters. 🤘
Why does avnj seem more polite today or maybe it’s just the nice music but I like this video format
Part 2 dipnetting guide for dipnetting on boats and ocean shores?
Hi, I came here just to say Hi🐠
“How to target any species you could possibly want to catch.”
Me- “Shark”
Was this done for an English class 😂😂, joking aside great content my guy.
i would love to do this tho it turns out dipnetting is illegal in wisconsin (at least according to my mom who actually fishes)
Does putting cheese inside of the net increase the likelihood of catching fish?
does jonah's aquariums ship to sweden???
Yes, we can ship nets to Sweden.
Can you dipnet a megalodon pls
Does this work on humans?

What I've found is that you will get better results in finding the critters you're after once you stop caring about looking stupid
Epic!

When’s invent a fish 7?
how do you catch cat fish with a net
depends on species but usually most of the methods mentioned will work. only thing to watch out for is the spines on the catfish
