Here's my take; everyone who loves female hip hop took an "L" for that diss track. It was amazing hip hop and Remy ate the track, we can't dispute that. However, by trying to open doors for other people that inadvertently made more room for extra beef and drama with female rappers. There is a polarizing pattern in the female hip hop fanbase. For example, when Nicki came out she dissed Kim, Remy came home she dissed Nicki, Cardi got hot and she and Nicki went at each other. And now that Megan is hot, they're trying to cook up a beef with her and Cardi. I like all of them for different reasons and truly see the diversity they can bring to the table. Although Remy won the battle, she lost the war. The war is against the music industry telling women there's only a budget for one. There are countless male rappers who have similar styles and no one seems to tell them they can't be great. Shether backfired big time and now any female rappers wanting to go mainstream will have the agenda to take down who is at the top. What God has for you, is for you. You don't have to tear others down to make yourself look better. That goes for Nicki and the other women too if all the claims are true.

I think the reason Remy didn’t get the recognition she thought she would have was because a lot of people were only rooting for her because they hated Nicki Minaj not because they loved Remy. She was never able to be very relevant outside of Nicki and those same people who hated Nicki just moved on to cardi.

Had Shether not brought the plight and the situation of the lack of talented female rappers center-stage as well as the skills that female rappers bring, that door would not have opened.
Also, the fact that Remy continued speaking about the issue of women in hip hop on a series of professional women’s industry panels, during interviews, and while networking at luncheons and exclusive events with powerful women like Michelle Obama helped greatly. Remy kept beating the drum about gender disparities in hip hop, and would not let the issue drop. She also used her own life and story to advance the cause. She has been passionate and committed on the issue. She has a right to make that claim loud and proud if she needs to. She did good activist work and it has born fruit.
The actions that Remy took to bring Lil Kim back to regal prominence in “Wake me up...”, her first major music project out of prison, her bringing Cardi out on stage, and recently Young Ma again, tells me Remy is that bitch who kicks doors open for Black female rappers in our time. Of course the environment has become ripe for Black women to come through, but not when she began her work.
She took on a lot right out of prison. That is why her music has not taken off as her fans have wanted. Her life changed. She did enough musically to establish her place. In a face to face with Nicki, people ( hip hop elite, professionals and those on the street) resoundingly cast their votes for Remy. Nicki has been has kind of been on hiatus every since.
Remy has build a new home from scratch and relocated from North to South, worked with others to rebuild her career, did/is doing the work to reconnect with family, including children, gave birth to a child, appears regularly as a lead on two television shows, has produced and starred in her own television specials, produced some music and videos, gigs at a variety of events, opened and is running her own clothing store, is serving as wife and mom, facing a bumb ass lawsuit, finds time to make speaking events, etc.
Y’all really think that her music career is not popping because she opened the door for Cardi? It doesn’t seem like making music has been her primary purpose for awhile. We change as life changes. Remy has had a lot of living to make up for, and her own dreams to pursue. I hope that she continues to figure out and to live her best life. I have supported her for years because of her skills which are undeniable. I then learned about her heart while observing her moves over the past two years. She has definitely earned her props. I wish her well.
