    I liked the parody of the original Incredible Hulk TV series that opens this episode. The She-Hulk breaks the fourth in style was excellent. Matt interacting with Jen's family was fun. Also, loved the nod to She-Hulk's comic book debut, The Savage She-Hulk, in the title card. This episode introduces Hulk's son Skaar. I enjoyed She-Hulk. It was fantastic to see The Abomination, The Hulk, Titania Pug, Matt Murdock's Daredevil, and Wong again. During the finale, She-Hulk uses Bruce Banner's catchphrase from The Incredible Hulk TV series; "Don't make me angry. "You wouldn't like me when I'm mad. Some aspects of She-Hulk's conversation with KEVIN are unsettling, particularly the remarks about the visual effects team, given the magnitude of Marvel's recent VFX problems. Jessica Gao, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law creator, and writer, can be found sitting at a table in the She-Hulk writer's room, discussing the finale. Time goes faster on Sakaar than Earth, so Hulk likely spent years there - he hinted at being gone for a while. In Ragnarok, Loki said he was there for weeks when he only went a few seconds before Thor, and the grandmaster also mentioned 'on other worlds I'd be like thousands of years old'
    29:20 yeah, not just trolls - they're fragile people who feel their identity is being assaulted because others (that don't look like them) are more and more becoming the 'hero' instead of 'people like me'. Which is ass because it's at a time when established heros mostly look like them lol (Stark Cap Hulk Thor Hawkeye). If they're pissed (irl) when Tatiana and other women are the heros, then they're gonna FREAK when it's a Black woman. We'll see some of that when Wakanda Forever premieres, but I am hopeful it'll get stomped out

    Instead of making creators say that monotonous speech for subscribing, UA-cam should come up with the better option. They have data, they know who is watching what on regular basis. They can simply send a push notification to viewers for subscription like “you have watched the video from this channel 10 times, seems like you love watching their content. Consider for subscribing to get latest video?”
    And if anyone didn’t like the notification they can add the option to turn notifications off.

    Is no one going to call out bad writing as they see it? I like marvel and feminism and I can really appreciate strong female leads but portraying them as the equivalent of a toxic male doesn't make them strong. Like, daredevil first entry into the Marvel cinematic universe was there for a one night stand. All his brilliant character development just for a joke about sex and walk of shame. Another aspect that would've been excellent writing would've been how when in the beginning, they bring all the men that Jen has been with, the final guy states that he was lied to from the start because she was Hulk, and not presenting herself as Jen. It could've shined a light catfishing and for her character to look at things in a different light.
    This could've been really enjoyable but being aware of bad writing and stating it, doesn't correct it into good writing, it just shows that you can see it and are just choosing the easiest way to fix it. Very lazy.

  • @CaesiusX
    @CaesiusX Рік тому +12

    IMO it's a breath of fresh air each week. And I find *Jen's* character quite endearing. And as I've said elsewhere, I understand why some wouldn't like this show, for whatever reason (e.g., it's not like any other Marvel show, not realistic, not action packed, etc.). I happen to enjoy it for those very same reasons.
    Having grown up on _The Incredible Hulk_ TV show as a kid, that homage was such a high point! So well done! And OMG. . .the narrator's voice was _spot on!!!_ 💚
    One problem I do have with discussing the misogyny aspect is how that has sometimes been weaponized to attack legitimate criticism. I've seen commenters called misogynists simply to shut down the argument. Completely discounting any and all points. I've actually seen this weaponization come more from studios and media outlets as well.
    That does not mean these people don't exist. Hell, there _are_ people out there who are getting what are called *_hate likes._* As I see it, they're sort of the _"Alex Jones"_ of fandom. Anything to get a rise and be the catharsis for those who are perhaps insecure and angry. There is money and notoriety to be made.
    There are also nearly 8 billion people on this planet, and some of them _do have legitimate criticisms._ IMO it's counterproductive to lump them in with a group you hate simply because you disagree with their critique. Unless of course, it is strategic. Which, again, I've seen done by studios and the like.
    *EDIT:* I suppose these needn't be mutually exclusive. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @cupguin
      @cupguin Рік тому +1

      I think it's really hard because the anti MCU and smaller niche anti women in the MCU brigade don't just show up and announce that's why they hate something. They have their own sections of the internet dedicated to having the same opinions on things they don't watch or know enough about.
      As an example I was just searching to find a comic panel from She-Hulk for someone and just found a UA-cam video with hundreds of thousands of views because Stan Lee would have hated She-Hulk twerking. The majority of comments aren't saying they hate the show because She-Hulk but they're very invested in this mythical weird opinion of Stan Lee that has little to nothing to do with his actual career or role in the MCU. They didn't have any objective reasons or logical arguments just "it's not my opinion but it's definitely Stan Lee's opinion".
      Of course you can make good faith criticism but when people started complaining when they read the title (you can see some of the reactions to the title in the show) or seconds after the first episode dropped you can't just pretend that it doesn't exist. Unless you're being very clear that you understand the issue and make it clear you disagree with it then it's hard to have blind faith when fandom is so toxic right now. Marvel has never been more popular but it's popularity is due to a very limited selection of properties. Like people who have no idea Incredible Hulk was a show or who can't remember a time before Iron Man was popular but definitely know why She-Hulk is bad.

    Not sure if anyone else answered but yes Hulk's son is an actual character from the comics. Short version, In the Planet Hulk story while Hulk was on Sakaar he started a revolution, overthrew the king, got married and impregnated his wife but the ship he arrived in exploded and killed his wife and he thought his son. So he blamed the illuminati for it(because they were the ones who sent him away) and he went back to eath to beat them(World War Hulk). But it turns out his son survived the mother dying and since time moves differently on Sakaar he was a teen by the time He got back

    It's fine for yall to like this, that's good but on the matter of the people hating characters like Jen, captain marvel, and mighty thor (they mentioned), those characters either are in bad movies or are bad characters with little to no flaws. You don't feel any real heroic nature to them just narcissism and empowerment. There are literal sound reasons why people don't like these characters and it's not that they are female. Wonder woman is a prime example of a good movie with a heroic character. Many liked the first movie which was great. It's not trolling to not like movies or characters from a franchise that you love or used to. There are valid criticism. Side note: people not liking little mermaid being black does not make them racists lol. Majority are just mad at changes to existing characters. People would still be mad if she had different hair colour because it aint the same. People hate change. Especially when it's not necessary. You are also removing red heads representation by replacing her with a black woman. Pushing representation while removing others when little mermaid was the only red head white princess. Typical self centred people i feel. Instead of consuming bad entertainment we should want better.

Or did they get to episode 6, realise they had no idea what they were doing and tried to look clever? Cos they were building up the blood thing since episode 1 and it was a dumb plot but this screams "Yeah we realised that way too late, hopefully you won't notice if we play if all off as a goof. Then they realised that plot sucked and they make Jen admit the show IS indeed bad BUT it's not their fault. & the show runners proceed to blame and mock Kevin Feige (passive aggressively insinuating Kevin is a robot who "noone talks to" & that he wouldn't give them what they needed to make a good show & that this was Kevin's She-Hulk).
    This finale was all about evading #accountability for creating a bad show via blaming everyone else BUT the writers themselves. Oh & She-hulk broke her parole exactly like Amil Blonsky did YET only Amil suffers consequences.? & Wong and Amil now know they are in a tv show too? It's all meaningless.🤣

I was invested in the show and it's multiple plots, and I agree that it doesn't have to end in an epic fight scene, but there should be some way of properly concluding it. I say this on a couple of reaction videos now, because many reaction viewers I've seen are only viewing it as meta and it is far more than that. One theme of the show was always about the issues of the MCU fans complaints and the Internet criticisms. They wrote she show knowing these complaints about past MCU projects and knowing it would be a complaint in this project. The series stuck with said themes while still keeping with the plot of what Todd was doing before Jennifer/She Hulk stopped it in an unconventional way aka fourth wall breaking to talk to K.E.V.I.N. who was the MCU's representation of the comics character Modok, announced to be in the series before the first episode aired. Episode one said Todd would have died, the show wouldn't be canon to itself if thy did have him turn into a Hulk. The writers of the series used She Hulk's ability of breaking the fourth wall as part of her powers to allow her to control the narrative rather than just tell jokes. In my opinion, it was perfect.

    In a way this episode answers a question I’ve had for a couple years now. In the comics, Marvel actually exists as a comics publisher. They make and sell comics based on eye-witness accounts from all the superhero stuff (basically like the comics in the Spider-Verse movie). And now we see Disney, Marvel and the studio system exist in the canon and have a level of cosmic control over the prime MCU.

    There was no point going back to a fight. Once they removed Todd's powers and the Hulk, Emil and Titania would crush the "Intelligentsia"
    (Hulk says that even if there's a millionth percent chance of other people using it, her blood needed to be destroyed. But it did work on Emil (who had a couple doses of Super Soldier serum that Samuel Sterns told him that adding Hulk's blood would make him an "Abomination") and it was working on Sterns himself. As someone that LOVES John Byrne’s Sensational She-Hulk that ending was like straight from the page and a good way to end this.
    Also a bit like in a later run when she gets he reality stone to trick Titania who wanted to kill her with the power stone, we know she can win most physical fights so skipping the predictable part and do something fun comic fans knew she could do is way better. Also that was breaking the fourth wall not just some obvious references and background gags like Wade did in his movies so far.
    Also like that the Intelligencia wasn’t even the one from the comics that was a pretty nice line up of villains but just your average insecure fake nerd, that never even read a comic and gets triggered by women.
    The writers knew what was coming (how could they not after the last four years of fake fans crying) and they made a great homage to the Byrne era, while addressing all the weird assholes that want to pretend to know or care about cape shit but haven’t even read the any well know series.
    Like that Skaar is just introduced there at the end, but poor Bruce probably still gets hit with a tragedy.
    Matt and Jen will probably not last but it’s so cute, if it fails they can still introduce Wyatt at a later time.
