Let us know what you think, Packers fans! Who stood out to you in the senior bowl? Who would you want the Packers to draft? Also, we recorded this before we got the news of Sean Mannion, Camp leaving for the JAX DC job and the Covington DL news. Make sure to like, sub and follow more great packers content every week!
Just came across your podcast and subscribed. Good stuff. Keep up the great work. 👍
@@andressegoviano7299 we really appreciate the kind words and the sub, truly means a lot. Any prospects or certain positions you want the packers to get in the draft this year?
@ Some depth on the offensive and defensive lines would be nice. Also if they could find a WR who could contribute early that would be great as well. We shall see come draft week.
@@andressegoviano7299 love it and def agree. WR who can catch, and some big dudes on both sides will always help! GPG!
So hard to predict much pre combine. Also we have no control of who is drafted before the #23 GB pick, who we target in free agency or if we pull off a trade. There are options that should help GB at pick #23 and this might be a Draft where we trade down in Round 1 or trade up to Round 2 with and extra pick. Going to be an interesting off season
A possible fit at Edge might be free agent Kahil Mack. There might be value there and pass rush is a cornerbacks best friend.
Absolutely, always a crapshoot. That is why it's so fun to talk about! I would not be mad at all with us getting Kahil Mack. Would remind a little of the Julious Pepper signing we did awhile back that really helped us and did not break the bank. Appreciate the comment! GPG!
BTW. Other Marshall NFL players include Chad Pennington, Byron Leftwich and Ahmad Bradshaw. 11:49
LEFTWICH was the guy I could not think of, totally forgot about Pennington and Bradshaw.
Mike Green will go to one of our rivals lol
Man, I know it.....pain.
I saw him mocked to the Lions. That would hurt!
@ 😭😭😭
Aren't the Bears the only NFC North team that gets to pick before us in the first round? I'd be surprised if the Vikings would pick him anyway since they picked an edge rusher in the first round last year. Lions would need to aggressively move up in the draft to pick him, barring a serious red flag popping up on Mike Green.
As far as college production, given they meet the minimum athletic threshold required for the position ....the best predictor of the future is the past.
This is the way!
Let's not forget Gute passed on CB's Quinyon Mitchell & Cooper DeJean in last years draft, both of whom are now starters for the Eagles. Personally I like DT Kenneth Grant from Michigan & IDL Ty Robinson from Nebraska.
@@tincans87 DeJean he did for sure but the Eagles took Mitchell 17th overall I believe. I’d be pretty happy either way grant! Def a great TJ Clayton replacement. GPG!
And we had a top 8 defense. In case you didn’t notice it was the pass rush that was the issue. We also have a super athletic first round offensive lineman just waiting for us next year could be worst
@ Great points. If we get an EDGE in FA and then draft a good one, could do a 180 with that group like we did with the safeties last year. I'm also very excited for what Morgan will do next year! GPG!🧀
Guttie did not pass on Mitchell he was gone.
@@Festvangelist Yep. 17th overall I believe....hard to believe he fell that far, should of been top 10, IMO.
I want the Packers to draft a difference maker in the first round. My preference would be an Edge guy or a CB, but if it's a DT, a LB, or a WR, that'd be okay as well. Like Rob, I'm tired of First Round guys that take YEARS to develop (Quay, Wyatt, LVN, Morgan). What really matters is someone that can contribute early on and improves the team by their play and presence. If it takes 3+ years for a draft pick to do that, then the Packers have failed to maximize the rookie contract and the cheap labor that contract provides. Also, it makes decisions on first round picks that much tougher to get right. Picking up Darnell Savage's 5th year option was probably a mistake and signing Rashan Gary to his current contract was mostly based off of future potential production. Pick a guy in the First Round that's ready to go and THAT way you have years of tape to enlighten your decision making process. Granted, that's hard to always do BUT Gutey was able to find Edgerin Cooper and Evan Williams (& J. Bullard) outside of the first round last year. I have faith that he can find a way to succeed in the First Round this year if he strives for it.
Very well said! Love it and do not disagree. Time for the Packers athletic thresholds standards to meet college ready production. I think of someone like Howie Rosman from the Eagles and how he has drafted the past couple of years on some prospects we all thought would do well bc of their college production and look how well they are thriving in Vic Fangio's 3-4 DEF!?! I do understand as well how hard it is to get right and im not saying you have to do it all the time, a good mixture of both would be ideal with some great FA signings like they did this year and we could be cooking with something. Awesome comment! Appreciate you and GPG!!🧀🧀🧀
Big Rich B extension is terrible decision making by MLF, rewarding terrible performance of teams. Not SB winning moves by MLF.
Def understand why you feel that way and hard to argue the facts and stats of the ST performance under Rich B's watch.
Mike Green is going to be a beast in the NFL, I don't think he will be there at pick 23. Higgins or Royals would help our WR corp.
@@tincans87 yea, I don’t think he will be either. I would love myself either one of those WRs though! 🧀🫡
@@Soundsgouda2 Round , the Green Bay packers select…Jack Bech…TCU 🥳😉
@@hf1163 I'd be really happy with that pick! Oh AND he doesn't have a drop problem!! Woop woop!! GPG!
Higgins would probably be too expensive, and the Patriots have $125 MILLION in cap space and have a need for a WR to pair with Drake Maye. If the Packers get Higgins it would probably be at the cost of any other possible non-minimum signing.
@ 110% spot on!
Ah, Seems to me most of us Packers fans have the same first round draft crush every year that somehow falls to us and we flat out pass on.
I’m sure we’ll be fortunate to have Mike Green fall in our lap, Just for him to go next pick to the Vikings. While we pick a OL or a no name.
I mean, hard to disagree with you on that. Packers need to stick with the premium positions in the first round(IE Corner, Edge, QB
@ Respect your opinion but it just seems like a trend 2023 we took Lukas Van ness who was a developmental player. Passed on guys like JSN who’s barely played Christian Gonzales, Jack Campbell, Passed on Creed for Myers, & That’s what I mean we took Lukas over some studs at 13 knowing he needed time to develop he’s had plenty and is getting out repped by a 7th round pick.
@ I agree with you and tried to as well in my previous comment but maybe it did not come off that way. My point was that yes, we need to draft more college ready production mixed in with our athletic thresholds and no more raw projects that take years to develop. Sounds like you agree with that as well. Appreciate the comment!🧀
@@Soundsgouda my fault I didn’t see the “Hard to disagree with you on that” I’m blind & thought you said “Hard disagree” my apologies
@@RuDev23 NO worries my guy. Appreciate the good back and forth! Hope to hear form you again! GPG!
