Got to have a Tier list!! Arnor has to be above army of the dead easily A tier I’d say. I don’t personally play them but currently they’re an incredibly strong army meta wise. The new LL gave them an even bigger buff! Purely because it’s a slog to kill a stupid amount of F4 D6 models with saves on your troops with Malbeth. They have their negatives of course but especially at lower points levels they’re crazy good! Love Rivendell though they’re the elven faction I’ve played the least, Riv knights lists are amazing though! Only issue with Gil-Galad is currently he’s very easy to shut down with shooting or magic the 1 Fate and no resistance to magic is really telling. Glorfindel is great not the killiest hero. Cirdan being a minor hero really bottle necks the list at certain points but he’s so good it’s hard not to include him. With Lothlorien they’re the best eleven list for getting numbers as you can really horde out (for elves) with their well costed lesser heroes and Galadriel who’s not the best leader for killing but she offers a lot of fantastic magics and can shut down your opponents leader. Celeborn is very underrated I’d say slightly over costed but he’s a F6 D7 tank the mirror giving him his full fate back commonly with heroic defence & strike, lord of the west and you can back him with 2 pikes and a banner near by and he has 2 really good spells AND the army bonus resistant to magic meaning you don’t have to worry as much with his will. Oraphin and Rumil are also fantastic little heroes, their troops are effectively the same as every elven list but the Galadhrim court guard and some of the best troops in the game with F6 for 12 points. Their cav aren’t the best though I’ll say that and like 2/3 elven armies their troops can struggle to kill.
As someone who’s starting MESBG for the first time after primarily playing 40K this video is awesome for helping me with faction choices!🤩 Decided to go for two factions, and two of my favourites from the movies and Tolkiens world, Elves and Rohan! Can’t wait for the new edition and to get my model done for the tabletop to try this game out! Thank you so much keep up the great work! 🤙
Good choices! Rohan are super accessible and easy to build an army for! They’re also the focus for the new edition! Elves (Mirkwood) are my personal army of choice ☺️
@@TTAlliance I really struggled to choose as I’m a massive Tolkien fan and hug fan of the Movies. But they were my top two for sure! Just need to decide which faction of elves I’m going to play. I’m think Rivendell as Elrond is one of my favourite characters! Do you guys have any advice for a new player or suggestions as to what I need to buy prior to the new edition coming out?
@@LordCommanderJoe To be honest, the starter set comes with everything you’d need to get into the game. Then just pick and chose your favourite models to add to your army ☺️
@@LordCommanderJoe I'd probably go with Lothlorien as your elf faction because they're historic allies of Rohan...riders of Rohan along with wood elf archers and Galadriel would be pretty spicy. And you could do the Helm's deep defenders legendary legion.
I too have a soft spot for the Fiefdoms, currently painting up a 700pt army of Dol Amroth including knights, Clansmen, Axemen and Vale archers with their corresponding Hero’s of Valour. Looking forward to see how they fare!
Like the video. I feel like putting Lothlorien below Rivendell was a hot take. I personally think loth is a lot better. I think the big Rivendell hero’s are red herrings then actually being good. Were as Galadriel can pretty easily win games. I think you over estimated the army if the dead their sitting in a 44% win rate on Longshanks. I think being fight 3 in a meta were fight 4/5 is the norm makes them pretty bad. Especially when their probably outnumbered 3 to one by those fight 4 models.
Yeah very good point with the Dead. We did mention the F3 being an issue. We knew we would want to change our mind when we had longer to think about it 🤣
Good video, the rankings look about right to me and it was well presented. As you pointed out, mesbg is a very balanced game so I'd be more inclined to rank the factions based on coolness or fun rather than competitive potential; how good the minis look, how much variety there is, what interesting special abilities/rules there are, unique equipment etc.

As someone thats never played but is interested in picking up tabletop gaming, is there any chance of a beginner type episode? Something that goes over how to build an army, and other general information such as turns and setup.

I hate the army of the dead, its so painfull to play against them and to be honest not a lot of fun. You just get bodyblocked permanently and just do nothing. Very boring. And Gil-Galad ist just broken as hell, way to cheap in my opinion. He slaughter everyone in the game.
wait ONE OR TWO more months.... ALL the data slates will be rewritten, all the heroes and datasheets revisited. Why would you invest any effort into a video like this? No offence.

Yeah a few have said that... to be honest, we haven't used Lothlorien as much as rivendell so it's hard to give a solid opinion on them.
