      @@jimherold7827 Presumably more velocity so better terminal ballistics. For some reason, there is little to no information floating out there as to whether or not there is a substantial difference.
      Supposedly, some defensive 9mm will not properly expand if the barrel is closer to 3 inches. 4 inches is supposedly the "sweet" spot, but again info seems to be scarce on this, it's just things I have "heard".
      If true, then yeah I can see why a 3.7 inch barrel is best...

    • @fredvStein
      @fredvStein 10 місяців тому +2

      @@jimherold7827 Better is relative. Everything has tradeoffs. If you need to compete with fastest consecutive shots on target then the comp helps you get back on aim fractions of a second faster. Definitely looks cool though, and if you're trying to beat a bad guy with a gun it may be useful to land multiples on center mass faster. But you'll deal with more carbon to clean, more muzzle flash, more heat creep into the slide, more problems when firing from the hip at close range and your face is above the gun (physical fight or in a car), more lint collection, less accuracy down range, less ballistic ejection speed, and higher cost.

    • @SimanSlivar
      @SimanSlivar 9 місяців тому

      @@thespectator5259 For 9mm the increased length gets you about 220 FPS. But my shorty barrel is also ported so it's going to be losing a bit more velocity, and I have an extended barrel with a harrington comp so much more burn time. My friends recorded me shooting both of them there is far less flash coming out of the front of the long and there is fire coming out of the shorty and its comp holes so it's not burning all the powder. But the 365 platform is made to be a carry firearm. So imho what's the point, I like it mainly because I can throw its case and my MDR into the trunk and go shooting without lugging around 4 or 5 different pistols and 3 or 4 rifles. It normally stays in pocket carry from since I daily it... I think thats IMHO the advantage over others.

  • @fredvStein
    @fredvStein 10 місяців тому +5

    I really wonder about these fractions of an inch. The original P365 micro was amazing not for being so small, but for carrying 10 rounds. The big issue was people couldn't really get their hand on the grip (it was small) and complained it was too snappy. Some people ran a pinky extension on the magazine to help, but then Sig brought out the XL with a longer slide/barrel and slightly bigger grip (same grip used in the P365X). The longer slide conceals easily, since it sticks down close to the body, but the grip was a little longer. The XMacro came along and made the grip a little wider and a little longer still which is the part that prints (and TacOps and AXG legion added a magwell which prints more). It isn't the longer slide/barrel (or shorter barrel with the compensated versions) that are difficult to conceal IWB, but the larger grips may be. Personally I don't really care if someone staring at my waist notices a slight bulge. Unless all these comments are about the added weight of a longer slide & more bullets making it more uncomfortable to carry?

    • @oddballgunman5288
      @oddballgunman5288 8 місяців тому

      There are so many different ways to configure the P365 now that no one should be complaining... I feel like the cerakote on the slide and frame is one of the best upgrades along with the aluminum module and the G10 grips. Truth be told, anyone can buy and add a grip module that has a nice cerakote, but that doesn't protect the finish of your slide. I believe that standard XMacro is slightly thinner in the grip than the Legion and there are a few options available to enhance the back straps on the polymer frame including an aluminum palm swell. It's still not quite as thick as the G19 and weighs close to the same as the G19 when you add the 2 extra rounds. How long has everyone been concealing a G19?

    Compared to the X-Macro, it appears to have the same slide with a grey-ish cerakote paint job and a CNC'd version of the X-Macro grip module, modified to use replacement grip panels and wearing a matching cerakote paint job. It's unclear if anything has been done to the FCU or not. Hopefully, Sig will release the AXG grip module because having several X-Macro Comp/X-Macro TacOps already, I'm not inclined to buy yet another 'X-Macro' pattern pistol even though admittedly it looks very good. I'll just wait to see when something else drops. BTW, Wilson Combat just released their version of the X-Macro grip module in both black and tan, and with their tungsten weight kit, it feels very good.

    • @fredvStein
      @fredvStein 10 місяців тому +1

      I dunno, I can't imagine people are dropping $$ on the WC grips because of the stipple pattern, most likely it's for the extra hand grip purchase on these tiny pistols. But the XMacro actually doesn't have a grip problem, it's big enough that the regular and X/XL grip frame problems are gone. You can get all 4 fingers around the gun, eject mags without breaking your grip, and change out backstops to fill your hand better.

    • @XrayMike17plus1
      @XrayMike17plus1 10 місяців тому +1

      @fredvStein In general, I agree with that. I bought WC grip modules when I was carrying 365 lx's to increase grip size and texture - especially when paired with Tactical Development's WC matching magazine basepads. Admittedly, it's not as big of a deal with X-Macro lowers. Out of curiosity, I bought a WC X-macro module when they dropped. It's a purely preference issue. The front and back straps are much more aggressively textured than the Sig OEM version, enhancing purchase during the draw. The texturing on the sides extends uo higher than Sig's and the magwell has a more pronounced flar. The contour at the top/thumb area is also different. In addition, the WC grip moules have channels behind the magazine area into which Wilson's tungsten weight rods can be insertered to subtly alter the balance of the weapon - which I like. Last, there's an appearance difference that I like compared to Sig's black - or, in my case, Coyote Tan grip modules. Wilson also offers their's in black, grey, green, or a more FDE - like tan. It's a minor issue to change out the grip module without spending a lot, and one of the reasons the 365 platform is as popular as it is.

      It's the standard Legion grey. Unless you're someone who prefers to buy something and not change anything, there are a lot of aftermarket options to make it whatever you want it to be. The gun can easily be transformed into a competition style race gun if you know what to look for. I feel like I could build an awesome pistol with roughly $880 that would outperform the legion. At $1,100 it would way outperform and outlast the Legion. It definitely looks completely different as well.

There's options for $360 to $450. There's an option to get a complete awesome gun excluding the FCU for $1,000 to $1,200 with way better features and way out performs your standard X Macro and the Legion. I personally started with the SAS model and have created a whole new pistol. Sharp's Bro's put out an original design that was initially good giving you a much better support hand purchase. They have recently stepped up the game with more ergonomical G10 grips with a few different color options. I'll be making a video soon!

XL is less weight and is most important to me since carrying daily. I think it's overpriced. Okay I can buy an extended release, removable magwell, etc. if I want, and not pay Sig's premium for it already being there. For a little less, if edc, I could even add the new Sig red dot and an XL, and still have money in my pocket. Legion has larger grips. All these small increases can become uncomfortable. The P365 series triggers are the worst ones I own. My 2 Shield Plus's triggers are vastly superior, as is my 2nd Gen CZ P10C, Ruger SR9C, Ruger Security 9 compact, & Springfield XDM pistols. Even after polishing the sear & striker, & adding a Tactical Trigger mod. Also the grip length is too long for conceal carry. There's a few videos out there showing how to deal with this problem.

      I would even go as far as saying all current SIG striker triggers are horrible. Admittedly I am a trigger snob, but in the modern time there is no reason to compromise on a clean,crisp break. SIG triggers are completely mush on their break. The original p365 trigger was WAY better on the break. I know it had striker drag as so they "fixed" it. Ever since then, their triggers are horrible! I laughed out loud the first time I felt one.

    Finally been perfected...why did we have to wait for this one for the platform to be "perfected"? The the older Sigs had a near mythical quality and reliability reputation. Their foray into Polymer pistols and chassis concept has not yielded the same results and reputation. Sig has had struggles with QC as the popularity in the civilian market has exploded and they got all the military contracts. They need to tighten the QC up and address the safety issues or perceived issues on the P320 and P365 lines, even if its mostly user induced they need to add a trigger dingus, or grip safety to reduce the ND chances. Side note, I have zero issues with my HS/SA XD line pistols.

    Can’t even compare a G19 with AXG Legion. I carry a 365X, flat trigger, Wilson Combat grip with Sig Custom Works slide and 17 round extended mags, basically a AXG Legion. Hardly notice I’m carrying it appendix, even with additional 17 round mag. I guarantee you you’re going to notice a G19 down the front of your pants. The AXG Legion would be perfect if it had a safety. Also, SIG Custom Works slide now comes with X-ray suppressor sights, and AXG Legion doesn’t so you can’t co-witness with optic. Makes no sense.

    In my opinion they actually screwed up the grip by doing the same stupid thing that Glock has done for ages -- making the base plate of the magazine protrude, and more noticeable under your shirt. That's too bad because I was looking forward to this model, but ever since they continued pushing the X-Macro grip features, I have no interest in the latest in the P365 line up. 😏 I think the XL was their sweet spot, but they had to keep pushing it. The P365s are so tiny. When I pick them up at the store, I imagine their target market is little people who live in tiny homes and drive Smart cars. This one looked better until you held up that G19, which is about the smallest pistol I've been able to grip with both hands, manipulate, or shoot effectively. I'd like to find something easier to carry without giving up shoot ability, but I don't think it exists. $1200 is outrageous, too. It would suck handing that over to sit in an evidence locker after a self-defense incident. You might not ever get it back.
