He was just early for his take, and no one predicted just how terrible Flus would be to end games. Caleb looks fine for a rookie and the team should be 7-5 if it wasn't for their awful HC. I think he's right, an offensive coach's dream is to go to a team trying to develop a new blue chip QB, the Bears job is the hottest one this off season.

the idea is that their timeline is different. The Bears' contending window if everything goes perfectly is 2ish years from now at the tail end of Caleb's rookie deal. The Vikings will have to take a step back to develop JJ on a slower schedule since he's coming off of 2 knee surgeries. The Lions probably won't be able to keep their overwhelming roster together once Goff's contract extension kicks in. The only one that will be on the same timeline is GB but Love's contract extension will also have kicked in by then. So yeah it will be a better than average division, but it won't be the overwhelmingly toughest division in football like it is this year.

@@Slo-Mo Most will, you are right, but that's because most people don't know sports. Having a couple blowouts is nice, but any coach will tell you they want to be tested more. I am much more confident in the battle-tested team that understands situational, complimentary football late in games than the teams who win in blowouts. That's in part because playoff games, and in particular super bowls, are rarely blowouts. If Chiefs play the Lions in a super bowl it will be a close game, and I trust Chiefs far more late in a game than I do the Lions. And this isn't an anti-Lions comment obviously - they are very good and they could win the super bowl. But I trust the best QB and coach duo in the league in the big games, in large part because of how they're handling these competitive games.

As a Chiefs fan I wish i had half the confidence Nick does with this team.
Last year the Chiefs had arguably the best defense in the league which made up for the below average offense. This year's defense is 5-10 ppg worse and the offense is only a couple points better.
Hollywood and Juju should be back by the playoffs but the Chiefs will need them to quickly knock off the rust and play lights out and Kelce to play miles better than he is now to have a chance

First, I'm not a 49er fan. Second, while Purdy isn't an elite athlete and isn't an elite QB, he is good in the right system, with the right players around him--just like every other QB. The word elite gets thrown around too easily and usually isn't defined. There are few elite QBs. This is a nature versus nurture debate. Football is the ultimate team sport. No one does it alone. If you study football history, no QB has won at a high level consistently without a really good coach, system, culture, and teammates. Staubach, Bradshaw, Stabler, Montana, Aikman, Elway, Brady, Manning, and Mahomes all had really good coaching, pro bowlers, all-pros, and hall-of-famers on their teams. Nature influences nurture and nurture influences nature is what research shows.

Also what an L take on this draft…. 49ers are picking in the 10-15 range, what QB is there worth taking? After Shadeur and maybe Cam, who both will go top 5, who is worthy taking in the first? Pay Purdy or sign a free agent that is cheaper
