Mine hurts no matter the footwear: boots, shoes, crocs, and barefoot. Seems to happen if I am on my feet a lot. As soon as I sit down and get back up is when the pain is the worst
Same thing is happening to me started out of nowhere. I’m used to working 80/90 hours a week. Now I’m suddenly experiencing this. I’ve tried recommended insoles, shoes, foot sleeves nothing is helping me 🥲
Exact same feeling. But i think for me, it all started because I was wearing these heavy crocs full force shoes which were not originals. My heel pain been a month or so now.
This has been happening for me on and off for over a year. The worst seems to be after sleeping when I go to put weight on its hard to stand or walk til I spend time trying to "warm it up" just scared ill hurt myself more. Would love if yall have any suggestions
First time I have found a real and clear explanation for my pain, thanks for your video. Also, I have swelling behind my knee and the pain goes down my calf to my heel, not sure if it's all related to the same problem... I will definitely watch more of your videos.
I'll bet it is. Maybe you're keeping things stiff or tensed or flex, and the calf muscles plus the ancillary muscles are tight. I overstretched to get rid of Planters Faciitis, and I got rid of it in less than two weeks. But stretching like heck over pulled everything else. I did the same thing with a shoulder that was massively inflamed. Got rid of the pain in two d as ts. But I stretched so much, the tendons and ligaments of the traps, felt worse. And the shoulder, couldn't lift before stretching, so that's how bad the trap stuff was. I don't think tendons and ligaments get much blood flow, so I guess that's a healing problem. And calves are so dense and strong, it can probably tear anything it wanted lose. Hey! Hope you're doing okay. Moderation and being careful seem to be the key. Maybe next time you can remind me, and I or my SO will remind you. Ok?
Sounds like peroneal nerve irritation to me. My fibia is hypermobile, I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, it causes my rib/fib joint to be unstable and causes irritation at the top of my fibular head. In turn, I get pain behind my knee, down the leg and into my heel along the peroneal nerve. Using KT tape at the ankle and tib/fib joint helps. I would recommend a nerve conduction test, called a EMG, to confirm my suspicion.
I have both conditions in each foot! I am dealing with bursitis in my right foot and Achilles Tendinitis in my left foot. Thanks for this video. It's already helped me to identify what's going on with me.
They keep diagnosing me with Plantar Fasciatis. They even gave me injections which didn’t work for even a moment. My arch is not sore. I keep telling them it’s the very back bottom of my heel.
Me, too. A Dr the other day said it too. I know what XXX XXXX Planters is. I got this by over stretching my foot to get rid of the PF. For me, it's almost an instant cure. But this XXXXXXX DR wanted to put me in a walking boot. I said he wasn't listening to me and I showed him I'd cut the entire back out of my right shoe. Can't hardly wear socks. I just said thank you for your time and walked out. Receptionist said something, but I was so xxxxxx, I didn't stop for a moment. Are you doing OK, now. I guess moderation and being aware are gonna be my keys once this heals. I'm ice packs on and off and on, etc, every other night. And my open back shoes are taped under the shoe and up to my calf, and then wrapped around below the calf with more tape. Wrapping the calf with layers of masking tape was better than the duct tape. A wet towel around it turns the paper into muck. Sh a Ving my ankle THE 2nd DAY helped, too. Best of luck in the future with this. It's both a big and a lousy club to be a member of. For me, it's as bad as the marriage club I'd joined. TWICE!!
I don’t have swelling. But when I press on the back of my heel I feel a highly sensitive bruise-like pain. I can run in but it feels sore when I walk but much much worse when I press on it. There are a couple spots on the direct back of heel and slightly to the side in the bone. It’s not the open space just above the bone.
@@kevinst.julian2026 Mine is still at it but not as bad. I’ve been taking hot baths to encourage blood low and healing. Using Kinesiology tape helps wonders
I was fidgeting with my feet and was kicking out my left foot with my right while creating some resistance, causing my left foot to be bending backwards. Then I felt a pop on my right foot-achilles, heel, Bursitis region-no pain but discomfort. There's discomfort when I walk, but there's only a pinch or stabbing-like pain when I try to force myself to walk with a full range of motion. This video eased my anxiety for a second I thought the only possible reason was a tear.
Subscrbed just for the information. Its been killing me for a year now. Massaged the back of the calf have some relief. Not enough info on this topic everywhere else. Much appreciated.
Thanks doc! I'm a surf foil boarder and I pump with my back foot very hard. There is also a slight side to side movement as I pump with my rear foot. You nailed it for me. Mystery solved.
The back of my heel definitely rubs on the backside of my shoe. I believe this is part of the problem I'm having after seeing this video demonstration.
I typically get heel bursitis when I run with overly cushioned running shoes. When I heel strike, the additional cushioning comes up and puts pressure on the bursa. Frustrating because as a heavier, hybrid athlete, my knees could really benefit from high stack shoes.
@denisemartin3603 Primarily training in a pair of Saucony Ride 16 wides. Still a bit of persistent pain in my right heel after long runs, but it's manageable. I tried to go with a lower profile shoe, but my knees were really feeling it, so this is the best compromise I could come up with.
@RatigansIsland Yeah, it always hurts the most when I haven't moved for a while. I'm doing a bit better with it these days. It was diagnosed as insertional achilles tendinopathy. I took a couple of weeks off running to let it heal, and then I started doing calf raises for rehab. It kind of flares up when I push hard during speed and hill workouts, but it's not nearly as bad. Hoping in continues to improve over the winter.
@DarthYAAAWNZ my came up after playing pickleball for a couple hours. This was 6 months ago after being inactive for a long time. I almost think it's bursitis and tendinitis. Hard to tell
Subscribed the minute i found you. I got both from ovrrstretching to get rid of Plantars F. My legs are as strong as iron. I still gently lift with them every 2.5 to 3 days. I even cut the back of my shoes off, down to the inside of the sole. Tnen i brought duct tape up from the bottom of the shoe and taped it up close to the calf, and lightly wrapped it with tape to keep it up. A little relief, but im at about six weeks. Cold ice packs every other day. Youre great. Thank you for putting this up.
I have quite a conundrum then. My heel doesn't hurt in tiptoes, but slightly when walking, and really hurts when I stretch hamstrings pulling my toes back. It feels like something tearing on the back of my heel.
This sounds like an insertional achilles problem. I have this, and walking on the flat was OK, walking uphill got really painful and calf stretches were really painful on the back of the heel. I also had plantar fasciitis and the recommended exercises to fix PF include calf stretches and toes stretches. It turns out these exercises really irritated my insertional achilles pain (a pain at the back of the heel as described in this video). I'm on the road to recovery by focussing on the achilles insertional problem first by doing heel raises and holds on flat ground. (Not off a step). Following the guidance here : ua-cam.com/video/IEfyCfCtIJA/v-deo.html
@@juliusdavies2005 Thank you!! I am dealing with this now & it hurts to stretch my calves or pivot off of my toes when walking normally, and even do calf raises. Thank you so much for sharing. Just about everyone recommends calf stretches
Thanx for explaining the difference between both conditions and is there any modalities that can be used before strengthening and apart from shoe insole to ease pain like you mentioned for heel bursitis(iontophoresis)?
Yes this Definitely Helped me to identify what I have..mine is the Latter.. Ginger Poultice takes away Imflamation this worked for me..bur the Pain and Discomfort when I walk is not good..how long will this pain Last..inflammation is under Control with the Ginger Poultice....I use it once during day and renew last thing at night.
I feel like my pain jumps around. Sometimes it's directly on the back of the heel and other days it's on the outer edge of the heel. I can't make sense of it
sprained my Heel Bursitis and Achilles from playing basket-ball, been 3 months so far. is healing slowly but the bottom part feel hard. Haven't gone to the doctors yet. will probably next month.
Oh, so mine is definitely my new shoes that put pressure on the back of my heel. They hurt a bit at first, but didnt "hurt" me anymore. However, they dont have a lot of padding back there and are very stiff, and ive been doing a lot of walking on them. I didnt understand why it hurt now, since i have walked a lot more in my previous shoes.
I have the bursitis issue. What is the method to treat that? I know you said something here but I'm a runner and have to keep training. I tried stopping for 3 months and it did not work. I looked at youtube and they give conflicting methods to treat it. You're the only one that mentioned it being about inflammation. I changed to a whole food plant based vegan diet recently and I noticed that the pain/inflammation went down, but I need something to take it to the next level. Do I do calf raises? Or something else? Thank you in advance. I know this isn't getting you directly paid for helping here.
This problem has increased nowadays i went to doctor and he said at first it was Achilles tendonitis but when i went second time to doctor he said for an xray and he found out there was heel spur which also give problem to Achilles tendon and heel bursa so go to doctor instead of UA-cam and finding out yourself
I’m not sure which I have or if I have it at ALL, but the symptom I’m having is only when I have my leg all straight(standing up, laying down, and walking) and I try and point my toes upward towards myself, I feel kind of like a stinging burning sensation about where you said the bursitis is. Does anyone else feel this same way?
Yes I do. I'm still trying to figure out what it is as well and my heel has only started bothering me within the last 3 days. The pain is only on my left foot. First it started on the very bottom of my heel and hurt on and off but now that's gone and it's moved to the back of my heel and since last night I can't put any weight on it currently. I can hardly walk properly. Really frustrating. The pain is the worst standing up after sitting or resting for a period of time. I'm wondering if it's my work shoes that need better insoles because my job requires me to be on my feet all day.
@@mh.blue_swish25this is exactly my problem too! Excpet mine has been going in for a year. I went to my doctor, and a foot specialist, came back with a large xray bill and told "there's nothing there. Try better footwear" My job also requires me to be on my feet 8 - 10 hours a day, stationary with little bits of walking back and forth. I invested in shoes with insoles picked out specifically for my feet and even had my feet scanned to help find the perfect sneakers and insoles. That helped about 10% of the pain. But it's after sitting down for even 10 minutes and standing back up is when the pain is almost unbearable on the back side of my heel, and now bottom center of my heel.. Litterally to the point that I cannot walk and I have to hobble or crawl to get where I need to, once i move around a little it's a tiny bit better to where I can gimp around on my tip toe. And it's only in one foot. I've given up with it. Nothing helps either, ice doesn't help, I've tried compression socks, everything. The only thing that takes the pain away is Aleeve. But I don't like to take any painkillers very often. It's becoming quite an issue honeslty.
If you had a calcacueles fracture where the bottom of heel was ripped from the top of calculus’s they had to put a screw in where the top of the screw is right at end of calculus where the mid Achilles tendon goes down over it ! Exactly at the back of the heel your touching. I was in surgery 3 1/2 hrs. And cast for 8 weeks after surgical sight in back of heel and heel healed. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤔 It really hurts & days I can barely stand cloth touching it ??? What to do? 15 weeks into recovery 69 yr old active grandmother of 15 grandchildren! Please some ideas? Help 🙏
Lots to do here. I would definitely start in a PT program but in the meantime, rubbing the area with different textured materials can help to desensitize it. Silk, cotton, wash cloth, pillow case etc...Rub lightly for 1-2 minutes with each material starting with the softest first. Do 3 times a day. Best of luck!
Hello. I have a question. I have injured my Achilles area drs have x rayed the area no broken bones and that is all that has been done. Been off work for 2 weeks iced compressed and elevated. It doesn’t seem like any thing is getting better. When the injury happened I was walking in Walmart Birkenstocks styled slide ons and I was walking on flat pavement. I swear I felt a pop and a tear. What are in your opinion are my options going forward. I should add that I am a hairstylist who can work anywhere from 8-10 hours a day. I tried going back last night for 2 but the pain was radiating all the way up the back of my leg
Question if you’re able to answer. So my pain is on the heel but not midline. It’s slightly to the outer side. And it hurts more when my toes point up. I do have Hoka shoes like in your video so I don’t think it’s foot ware. Now I am over wait, and have had a recent knee injury so my gate isn’t 100% proper. You mentioned that the Achilles tendon doesn’t like a rounded off motion. So I’m having a hard time quantifying Bursitis vs Tendonitis. Thoughts if you are so inclined. Also, I had plantar fasciitis in this foot in the past as well. Any chance that tendon wraps up the back of the heel? Appreciate the videos. And appreciate any input if you’re able. Regards, B.
My wife thought I was crazy. But I figured I out that Crocs shoe 👟 was causing me to have Achilles tendinitis where I couldn’t put weight on my foot for 3 days felt like a bad ankle sprain. It would start as a pain the 1st day then 2nd day it would be worst. The shoes just don’t give enough heel stability for my feet
I have a lump to the outer side above my heel on my right foot only. I've been having trouble with that leg feeling out of balance with pain where leg joint meets torso. Been seeing a chiropractor for that, but just notice the heel lump today.
My pain is one place just under the outer edge of the heel & acutely painful when I walk ie put weight on it. No one so far can diagnose. Any thoughts much appreciated.
Can swimming cause heel bursitis. Reason being, is the foot is slightly rotated inwards or outward with certain kick actions, for different swim strokes.
I got a bursitis on both lower heals from changing shoes with a hard heal cap. It’s been 3 weeks now & can’t get this inflammation down. I have zero pain and also can run. I lowered mileage and even tried a week not running. I started trying weighted ISO, lowering calve muscle exercises. Thanks for video! You have had success with the injections???
I can tell mine is bursitis because , when I take my left feet back straight and bend my right leg , there is a stretch on my left heel . And that's where the pain is but my right leg is fine. I am looking for exercise for bursitis but can't find much .
Minimize any rubbing on the back of the heel. Unlace your shoes to put them on and take them off. Might go with an open backed shoe for a while. If that doesn't help, talk to your medical provider. Best of luck!
Thanks Paul for the video. I have an extra bone growth on back of my heel. My doctor says it’s called insertional tendinitis. Can I still play sports like badminton with this condition ?
From 2014 thru 2017, I had 4 surgeries in right foot, all relating to Morton’s Neuromas, (between 3&4, then 2&3), and dropped neuromas, leaving scar tissue damage and nerve damage. I’ve recently had 2 very sudden and extremely painful flare ups. Are they related?
With bursitis will it always be super inflamed, red and noticeable? My heel sometimes is a little swollen but when I look up pictures it definitely does not look like that. I'm leaning more towards Achilles tendinitis because of the pain when flexing/walking.
Oh, thats just great!! Im going to watch the whole video, but did you just tell me i have both. Having the Planters Fasciitist up til a few weeks ago wasnt bad enough?¿?¿ Hey, best wishes and best of future luck!
I've been getting pain on the outside of my heel when I run. It starts after about a mile and then goes away at about the 2 mile mark. It doesn't seem to be plantar fasciitis b/c I am not having pain at the PF attachment on the underside of the heel. Could this be caused by achilles tendonitis or some other achilles related situation like tight calves?
Yes that could be. Could also be a lateral plantar nerve issue but that would continue to get worse. If your calves are tight, you might be overloading the outer heel.
Thank you so much for your video. Question: I have pain in that area you mention only on my left foot. The pain is worse after resting and then walking. Even when I'm sitting in my recliner chair it seems to be a bit agitating especially when tilting my left foot toes back toward me. Then, once I start walking around a little bit, it is really tender at first, but then the pain almost completely disappears. I wear Crocs with no back strap all the time. Something must have recently happened as this is new pain in the last four or five weeks. Thanks for your thoughts.
Pretty sure i have this and i only wear "clogs" like you mention.. you know sports sandals. No heel at all. I cant even put weight on my foot without excruciating pain for the last 2 days, once i get through the initial pain, i can sometimes slide around dragging my foot. I guess it's time to see a pediatrist or something
I’m sitting here right now with throbbing pain in my Achilles tendon. I’ve had this a couple times now in the last few years and I now know that when I’m working on my knees for a full day that this caused this pain. I’m not sure what I exactly have. I have Custom Made Orthotics but even before I got these I now know that when I had this pain it was from the working on my knees with my foot flexed backwards not from not having orthotics. My pain tolerance is very high but I can’t put weight on this foot and walk without severe pain. I have a doctors appointment today but I’m guessing it won’t solve anything.
Did they help you? I'm in agony, I don't know if it's tendonitis or bursitis, whole foot is hurting, even calf now. Up all night crying, trying everything.
@@mytwocents27 Unfortunately no. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s bursitis or was with a strong connection with gout. Until one morning I had woken up with a flaming pain in my big toe that was indentical to gout. At the same time I had the the extreme pain in my Achilles tendon but the pain was in the lower part of the tendon or heel as it was before and also had pain in my knee. So I had gout medication on hand which I took before bed and low and behold the next morning the pain in my Achilles tendon, big toe and knee was gone. It definitely was gout affecting the bursitis in my ankle and knee and big toe. Now when I think back it was probably bursitis I had every time being triggered by gout or to much uric acid buildup.
@@rotaxridersounds similar to my pain. I've gone to the doctor and they've never helped. Said Achilles tendonitis but it's so painful I can't move my ankle, I wake myself up in the middle of the night hollering from pain and I have an extremely high tolerance to pain. Going to do an MRI and CT scan Monday. It flares up about once or twice a year and lasts a few weeks.
What about long drives where the Achilles tendon is compressed into the left heel for a long time? Feels like an adhesion separating or peeling away. Happens often after sleeping on back with the foot in plantar flexion as expected under the covers.
When driving, I recommend putting the foot flat on the floor and to move it often if possible. I have all of my plantar fascia and Achilles patients use a sheet or towel and pull the toes back before putting the feet on the floor in the morning. Most have much less pain with the first couple steps. Could also try a night splint. These can be very helpful. Here is a video I did: ua-cam.com/video/zGKgPv8yAJQ/v-deo.html
so, in general, with Spasticity from stroke, would a shoe be better than barefoot, nad a hightop style better than ankle high? i usually go barefoot with no pain, but have been walking a LOT recently and my achilles just started hurting when i walk. not red not swollen not the heel. if anyone could answer i would appreciate it v. much, tu
Is it possible to have both at the same time? Definitely have the swelling of the bursa and also the discomfort in the Achilles especially when navigating any stairs. It’s been 20 months and just now most of the pain is gone and I’m back running low mileage. Hopefully the last of the swelling will go down.
I am a cabin crew for 8 months , and This pain appeared after 3 months . I wear Derby type of shoe and I was wearing sports shoes before. During flexion with extended knee there is no pain , But if i bend down with flexed knee with heel on the ground than there is a sharp pain at posterior heel . During squat heel not touch to the floor than there is no pain. If i touch my heel on the ground than sharp pain appear. What is it ?
Ok, what can I also do to fix the problem? It’s going on 4 months now, I seen two different doctors. They are telling me you’re fine, but I’m still in pain. I need to get back to work fast. I can’t bend my foot all the way, when I try to my achilles and my heel hurts to much. I been limping since it all started.
I live in flip flops and my achilis tendon is swollen and painful so today my blood work came back as having gout. High levels of uric acid but I don't get it, it's not a joint. Can you please explain this to me? I'm on meds now and I do have arthritis
Im so confused and, at this point, frustrated as well. During a run roughly 2 months ago, i had pain in my heel and had to stop .. I've had achillies issues before on this foot, so I assumed it was that. But the pain and location were slightly different, plus the irritation has not relented. It has not gotten worse either, but because of this, i began to think it was a calcaneus fracture or bruise since there is dull pain when i press at a particular area. However, after listening to this video, i can say i experience the pain most when pusing through my toes during my walking stride, so that seems to be achillies from what I've just listened to. After 2 months with no improvement in the pain or irritation, im starting to think I'll never run again. I know that might sound a little over the top, but running is so important to me that im starting to fear the worst. I can walk with minimal pain but not zero pain.
I think I have both.. the little sac on the back of my heel is inflamed and protruding on my heel, like it looks like a lump. And it’s been hurting to walk, and to hold my foot straight up. Started hurting bc I got agitated one morning and chased after my cat while playing with him
I recently injured this exact part of my foot playing spikeball while barefoot. It think it is achilles tendinitis because i only have pain when walking on my toes. I will take a break from activity until it feels better :-D Thanks Doctor Eval Pal with Paul Marquis PT. :-D
You left out another potential source of pain: a Haglund's deformity. I had pain in my left heel for years and it didn't go away until after I had surgery to remove my Haglund's deformity.
Hi how are you? My friend please can you send me the name of the doctor you did the operation with please I’ll be three suffering I tried everything thank you I am from Australia
I did what he's talking about by overstretched my foot to relieve Planters Faciitis. I discovered it yrs ago. I guess I overdid it. I took sneakers and shoes and cut out big pieces of the back. It's helping with the pain at the Achilles Heel, but not on the bottom of the foot. Been over a month. Planters disappeared in days. No improvement on the tendinitis. Hey! I hope you're doing better. Maybe a smidgen of what I said can help you avoid a bit of this in the future. I was lost as how to treat it. I'm hoping he provides an answer here. Again, hope you're all heeled up. I actially had a Dr tell me it was also Planters and wanted to order me a boot. I said, I can't even put on a sock, and you want me wearing a boot. I said good bye and thanked him for seeing me. Payment was not made, and I called my ins Co. No idea what they did.
Hey . I cant feel any pain moving or doing heel raises . But as soon as I get a football boot on or any shoe that slightly rubs my heel I feel a great amount of pain Almost like a blister or sore just under the skin. but it's defintly not a blister .I could run up a hill barefoot to problem. Is there any advice you could give please
Thanks, much. Couple questions, please. I'm 64 and obese and doc has stated it's bursitis, he thinks. It started, again, after some years, 7 months ago. Unlike my younger days, before I ever saw a doctor, it would go away on its own and didn't occur often. Now, it's every few weeks and it's really painful and debilitating. So, what is the Gold Standard Test, if ant, to determine cause, weather bursitis or tendinitis? Also, what are the usual fixes, if the bursitis or tendinitis doesn't go away? I am old now; I can't be wasting time suffering like my younger days. Finally, my doc said he doesn't inject whatever stuff you folks inject for fear that I shall blow out the thing. But, I think that this may be the lawers talking. I'm suffering and I am on blood thinners and can't take Advil. If there's a freaking injection to help with pain and recovery, before surgery is the only option, I would like to try it. Do all docs fear every type of injection for older fat guys like me, or is my doc just one of the docs that fear more and listen to their lawyers more? LOL. Oh, and I've got a doc in my family, so I know a bit of the behind-the-curtain facts. Thanks, in advance, for any honest advice. And no, I won't quote you. LOL.
I've posted this my post under another but will dobit one more time here also in hopes it can help someone: I got heel bursitis (from hard bed) and achilles tendonitis from doing one leg calf raises, it was aggravated also by walking 3 hours non stop with worn sneakers (bottomed out heel area; heel lower than forefoot=tendonitis, also called sneakers/flip flops-tendonitis) and high sodium intake (sodium blocks potassium which leads to stiff muscles, and perhaps disturbs in other ways the collagen). It wouldn't heal until i decided to 1. take every other day as resting day (tendons need one-two extra days to replace the weak collagen type 3 to weight bearing collagen type 1 cells) 2. Eat citrus fruit with peels (with cashew nuts, or raspberry-orange, for better taste), more effective c-vitamin in my opinion than only eating pulp 3. Use comfortable anti-heel spur insoles in my worn sneakers but also in new shoes. Also put on indoors flip flops. I put thin ones below the regular insoles for comfort 4. Important. A. Custom socks for indoor and outdoor use made with cut garment pieces/strips (from other socks, 15cm long, 8cm wide) sewn, consisting of 2-3 extra layers, around the heel area like a U-shape from bottom of foot up to achilles tendon/ankle of custom loose socks to make walking softer (much thicker heel). B I even sleep with them on so my heels are healing with soft cushion during 8 hours of sleep. C Don't use two tight socks on one foot (for extra cushion or warmth) because it causes compression on the heel which irritates it. D If it is cold, or not, weather i also put a cut out piece of wool garment in my shoes where the heel is for extra support and warmth for blood circulation. 6. Of course no more single leg calf raises (or double leg if it hurts) 7. Get NEW shoes if old worn out ones are causing the pain. The heel area is sunken like an old bed.
Mine hurts no matter the footwear: boots, shoes, crocs, and barefoot. Seems to happen if I am on my feet a lot. As soon as I sit down and get back up is when the pain is the worst

I'll bet it is. Maybe you're keeping things stiff or tensed or flex, and the calf muscles plus the ancillary muscles are tight.
This is great. Please continue your educational videos. I appreciate them!
Thank you Sookie! I plan to!
Thanks alot. This is the first time soneone could actually pin point the location of my pain and tell the reason
Great info. My suspicion of bursitis is now confirmed

TWICE!!
did you ever find a solution? im dealing with something similar or the same and its giving me hell, i cant even work anymore, please let me know

Probably went through 18 videos and this one was rhe most helpful
Glad it was helpful!
So achille tendonitis is my problem. Glad you show exactly what i need to know.
Glad you liked it!
I have this too, did the pain go away?
@@Jesussaves1993 Not yet. Resting but not much progress. Icing some.
Exact same. Any better? What did you do?
I have all that plus tightness and pressure feels like its honma tear my achilles. Very bruised feeling in my heel bone low and to the outside.
@@kevinst.julian2026 Mine is still at it but not as bad.
I’ve been taking hot baths to encourage blood low and healing.
Using Kinesiology tape helps wonders
That was a thorough helpful video. Well done.
From your explanation, mine is closer to heel bursitis, but there's no swollen on my heel, just pain.
awesome synopsis! i seem to have achilles tendonisis and not sure what I can do about it.
Now that a good info for what im feeling
Wow! Excellent! Super informative and helpful!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!
So what shoes do you run in? And is your heel better?
@denisemartin3603 Primarily training in a pair of Saucony Ride 16 wides. Still a bit of persistent pain in my right heel after long runs, but it's manageable. I tried to go with a lower profile shoe, but my knees were really feeling it, so this is the best compromise I could come up with.
Hey. Did this pain intensify after waking up or long rests?
Great explanation. I may have bursitis after all. I feel it to the right of my Achilles, but not the Achilles itself. Either way, thanks for the help!
Thank you sir for differential.... I think my pain too started from not unlacing sports shoes...
Please suggest relief measures...
Regards
Thanks so much for this Info’ it’s my Achilles for sure.
Following the guidance here : ua-cam.com/video/IEfyCfCtIJA/v-deo.html

sprained my Heel Bursitis and Achilles from playing basket-ball, been 3 months so far. is healing slowly but the bottom part feel hard. Haven't gone to the doctors yet. will probably next month.
Can you please share some helpful exercises for tackling this issue. Many thanks for your video.
Did we catch the rat in the trap?
Oh, so mine is definitely my new shoes that put pressure on the back of my heel. They hurt a bit at first, but didnt "hurt" me anymore. However, they dont have a lot of padding back there and are very stiff, and ive been doing a lot of walking on them. I didnt understand why it hurt now, since i have walked a lot more in my previous shoes.
My foot doctor said I have both. I run every day and like to keep my mileage at the current level. I guess I’ll just have to bear the pain…
It was really helpful. thanks
Have you had any success!? I’m going through same thing.
Im a runner too and its killing me that I cant run😢😢
I’m serving in the military and have bursitis now because all the walking etc. in the bad shoes. Hope it goes away fast after the service
Mine came from sitting on my bed with my legs straight and heels weighing down. Did this for a long time and now will not sit like that.
Try better footwear"
My job also requires me to be on my feet 8 - 10 hours a day, stationary with little bits of walking back and forth.
It really hurts & days I can barely stand cloth touching it ???
Great video, does icing help? Or am i wasting my time
I have a lump to the outer side above my heel on my right foot only. I've been having trouble with that leg feeling out of balance with pain where leg joint meets torso. Been seeing a chiropractor for that, but just notice the heel lump today.
It’s painful. Thanks for the info
My pain is one place just under the outer edge of the heel & acutely painful when I walk ie put weight on it. No one so far can diagnose. Any thoughts much appreciated.
Awesome explanation!!!!!
Can swimming cause heel bursitis. Reason being, is the foot is slightly rotated inwards or outward with certain kick actions, for different swim strokes.
Very helpful, thank you 👍🏼
You are welcome!
If that bursa was removed and a similar insertional pain comes back what could that mean, can bursa regenerate ?
Yes, but there could be more going on at the tendon level.
Will you please explain planter fascitis...
Thnx "I had to get to the bottom of this" 😂😂😂 I'll be here all week yall
I think I have heel bursitis if I wear tight shoes may give remedy or what may be the solution?
Minimize any rubbing on the back of the heel. Unlace your shoes to put them on and take them off. Might go with an open backed shoe for a while. If that doesn't help, talk to your medical provider. Best of luck!
Great thorough video as always Paul. Thank you as always
Knee Q if you don mind. when you say later/medial capsule, what exactly are you referring to?
The synovial capsule surrounding the knee
I m suffering heel pain left from 8 month due to when playing with kids wearing sport shoes which sole is hard, what to do pain in the below side
Exactly! The tendon will hurt more with a stretch or contraction where the bursa will hurt more with pressure on it
how about icing it? will that help bring down the inflammation in that area?
No. Ice is not an anti-inflammatory.
My pain recently showed up 2 weeks ago. I wear shoes I slide in a little. I may get insoles soon. Perhaps it can help?
I guess it's time to see a pediatrist or something
i have a pain in my right lower achilles and upper heel, and I play basketball and run a lot, do I possibly have these?
You could. Very hard to tell without seeing you.
Did you get a steroid injection?
Any medicine is available for this to relief very soon because my running competition after 15 days plzz help me ..
Ahhh I’m pretty sure the bursitis issue is the problem. Finally have a name to ask my doctor about. Thanks.

Is it possible to have both at the same time? Definitely have the swelling of the bursa and also the discomfort in the Achilles especially when navigating any stairs. It’s been 20 months and just now most of the pain is gone and I’m back running low mileage. Hopefully the last of the swelling will go down.
Yes. Could definitely have both
I am a cabin crew for 8 months , and This pain appeared after 3 months .
Could be many things but would need a full evaluation

Listen to Dr Berg on gout?
Hi Garrett, Have you seen an orthopedic specialist and tried PT. Very common issue to treat conservatively.
Very helpful video

I think I have both.. the little sac on the back of my heel is inflamed and protruding on my heel, like it looks like a lump. And it’s been hurting to walk, and to hold my foot straight up. Started hurting bc I got agitated one morning and chased after my cat while playing with him
Many people can have both. An open backed shoe for a bit can help. I also like to use compression like a compression sock or KT tape.

Definitely need to get that looked at by a medical provider.
What do you think of the Spenco Total Support Max insole for Inerstional Achilles Tendonitis and Peroneal Tendonitis? I have both conditions.
LOL.
I've posted this my post under another but will dobit one more time here also in hopes it can help someone:
I got heel bursitis (from hard bed) and achilles tendonitis from doing one leg calf raises, it was aggravated also by walking 3 hours non stop with worn sneakers (bottomed out heel area; heel lower than forefoot=tendonitis, also called sneakers/flip flops-tendonitis) and high sodium intake (sodium blocks potassium which leads to stiff muscles, and perhaps disturbs in other ways the collagen). It wouldn't heal until i decided to
1. take every other day as resting day (tendons need one-two extra days to replace the weak collagen type 3 to weight bearing collagen type 1 cells)
2. Eat citrus fruit with peels (with cashew nuts, or raspberry-orange, for better taste), more effective c-vitamin in my opinion than only eating pulp
3. Use comfortable anti-heel spur insoles in my worn sneakers but also in new shoes. Also put on indoors flip flops. I put thin ones below the regular insoles for comfort
4. Important.
6. Of course no more single leg calf raises (or double leg if it hurts)
7. Get NEW shoes if old worn out ones are causing the pain. The heel area is sunken like an old bed.
