Yes I love all of them and I LOVE the long long ones too. It takes me a long time to work through them but I love them so much 😄 and I do listen to them all
Actually, I heard that the book "Witches among us" is more for the practicioners family and friends to understand what witchcraft is. From the interview with Ivy the occultist, she said that there are just books about how to be a witch, and not so much about what witchcraft means to a person, for a person who doesn't practice. I think it will be a good read for anyone though and will be getting it myself!!
13:05 So happy to se hungarian books! I live here and practice hungarian folk magic, yet I haven't heard of Margit Tóth's work. Thank you for including it!❤
Lifting the veil and dream magick sound amazing to me. I am going to order lifting the veil now and pre order dream magick. Thanks so much for the book recommendations absolutely love them ❤
I just got The Poison Path Grimoire and The Neuroscience of Tarot two days ago. I’m definitely interested in the dream book and the tea book. I already have a tea magic book that I love. Happy reading! 📖
Thank you for this video - I am excited for several of these. As someone who feels a kinship with the goddess Brigid, & used to live in New Orleans, I am especially looking forward to the one on Maman Brigette, her voodoo loa incarnation. I now have a few new titles to include on my Yule Wish List.
I am so glad I am not the only one who loves your longer videos. You're so soothing to listen to and find you are a great inspiration! Also, for your longer videos in case some people are not aware, there is the option to speed up the video up to 2x so they can listen to it in half the time (I don't personally do this). Thank you once again for another great video, Hearth 💚 Sending love and light to all xo
You are absolutely radiant! Thank you for the incredible content as always, we enjoy the long videos and short videos alike. After the traumatic US election your channel feels like a much needed safe space.
Thank you so much for your channel and the information you share. I’m in my senior years of life and I’ve learned so much from you. When I was in elementary school I would go to our local library and read about witches and the history. I would say I was a witch when I was little. Let’s just say that got me made fun of and wasn’t accepted. The last 6 years I’ve been coming back to who I am and what i resonated with as a child. You are a part of that. I also love books and thankfully my grown adult children do too.
I like your videos. Using Black lipsticks, black dresses and black cushions together give your videos a sense of spookiness. At the same time, Your long and informative explanations give your videos a sense of seriousness and respect. Actually, your most popular and second most popular videos of your channel have the same characteristics which shows most people like it this way.
Love your videos!!! I am attending a two day workshop this weekend on the Poison Path with Coby Michaels - here in Arlington, Texas. It’s an area I’m clueless about so I’m really looking forward to learning something new.
Another great video, Hearth! Whatever the topic, whatever the length, it’s always exactly right. All of your hard work is greatly appreciated! Sending lots of love and hugs your way💚.
Always enjoy your videos! I think you forgot to add a link around 32:49 for your post on your favorite books. I am regrowing my library after losing the entirety of my existing library in a hurricane a couple years back, and am looking for books I haven't already read. I've been practicing for 30 years, and am always looking for new books to recommend to others.
Thank you for this video! You’re always so informative and it’s so helpful for finding witchcraft books on specific topics. Also, I believe Circe is pronounced “sir-see”? x
Thanks! I might try Whispers from the Coven because Chris Allaun's Black Book of Johnathan Knotbristle was such a fun and interesting read. I have read and enjoyed some of Patricia Telesco's books in the past but I will pass on these only because my "to be read" list runneth over. 😉
I don’t mind the longer videos, if I can’t sit for the whole video I always come back later when I can watch the rest & that’s how I watch your live recordings too! One little thing since it wasn’t on some of the books, can you add in the author’s names if they aren’t on the cover image? Especially for spelling so we can find the right books!
That's funny. I just decided to go through all of my Witchy and Magick books again too. However I don't have nearly as many, but I'm realizing that about a 1/3rd of them are 20+ years old and are just to basic to be much help to me anymore. I'm going to see if my magick community wants any of them for their library. :)
Hey Hearth, referring to Sam and the Samhain Scare, I do believe some pagans celebrate Samhain at the midpoint astronomical midpoint between the Fall Equinox and the Winter Solstice, or the full moon closest to that time. November 15 would be the full moon closest to that point this year
I have over 2000 bks, and constantly reread many over the years. it's amazing that a book I read over a decade ago a few times and thought it was fantastic, later colored by experience and other materials I have read find it no longer relevant nor special. So, a sign that I've grown. Now on to the next book while I can - lol.
Take a look at Rachel Patterson's books she is a uk author who, while she herself is a kitchen witch, imparts a wealth of knowledge on many aspects of traditional witchcraft and deities.
I don't know if you are in to comics, but there's this book from Alan and Steve Moore [not related] The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic, launched last October on the 16th that seems to be pretty interesting, I'd love to know your opinion
I too was interested in the book on Cerridwen but also had the same thought when you introduced it - how will it compare with Kristopher Hughes’ book? However, every author brings their own unique lens so I may pick it up! Thank you for these monthly videos! I really enjoy them.😊
I preordered Alpine Witchcraft! I was adopted, and my biological family is predominantly based in the Alps! My biological parents are based in the US, but my grandparents immigrated from Bavaria. The remainder of my biological family are based out of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria! I’m so excited to be able to use this book to get acquainted with the culture I lost out on because of my adoption.
At first I thought this would be an interesting book for me, but after reading the sample I'm not so sure anymore. I thought it was about practice witchcraft, but it seems to be more about the myths and history of witches, most of which I already know. I think this book is good for people who want to learn more about Austrian folklore. Maybe I'll buy it when it's translated into German. I hope you learn more of your ancestors.
26:13 If you don't mind, who was the author of The Witch's Chronicle: a history of witchcraft? For some reason, it's not popping up for me on a search.. Thank you!! 😊 Always enjoy your videos and streams! 💙
I've just picked up the House Witch and the Green Witch. I'm on on the 1st chapter of the House Witch but I will say that I was a bit taken aback by a couple of references to "God" with a big G. To me, that comes across as Abrahamic, which idk if this author is, but I wasn't expecting it and it's a bit off putting to ME. I'm going to continue the book to see, mainly bc these books are EVERYWHERE, and they are very pretty. They do seem very beginner however. Shall see I guess. Also, this quicker format is nice, I particularly like that the book review is seperate from the astrology, just bc astrology doesn't interest me. But I do also like the hour long videos, I watch them while I get ready.
I purchased A Witch’s Book of Wisdom - the one claiming to be the ultimate grimoire of folk spells - and I do NOT recommend. I’m actually returning it. It’s a basic A to Z of spells/rituals that you can find in a hundred other beginner spellbooks (and probably done better, too). It didn’t read as particularly inspiring or relevant, so I feel like it’s definitely a reprint of an older edition, as she talks about CDs and DVDs in the technology section. Also, there’s nothing particularly “folk” about it. It’s basic/commonsense magic. Plus, we don’t know what kind of “folk” she’s supposed to be referring to. In the beginning she discusses the history of cunning folk (incredibly briefly), so I guess it’s some vague British/European “folk”? Despite the incredibly varied and nuanced differences between those practitioners. Also, any time I see “so mote it be” in a spell, my eye twitches and I look at the whole book as Wicca in disguise. 0/10 stars. Save your money and pick another book, like Ella Harrison’s or Judith Illes’ massive encyclopedias.
Thank you for the video, I added several books to my TBR!! Im just wondering if you or anybody reading this comment knows books on mayan spirituality/magic? I have only seen books on mexican tradition but i come from a mayan ancestry (not mexican myself), and i'd love to know more about it! :)
I'm at the point where I am not wanting to do witchcraft because I keep having demonic nightmares. I'm Wicca and I never conjure spirits, I do basic stuff. Every night I get malevolent spirits and energy, sleep paralysis. I don't know what to do. I try to protect my self.
Hello. What I will say and everyone is different, is that for myself my nightmares were related to a mental health diagnosis that was debilitating until I got help. And even though I didn't realize it looking back as a kid I always did things interacting with the natural world The idea of putting structure around it stresses me out cuz I was raised very orthodox but hopefully if there's grounding in your environment or things that bring you joy to have more of that during the day and then I guess right down whatever it is you remember seeing because I've had nightmares I've had night terrors I've had waking up when I can't move forgetting where I am so I completely sympathize. But I think if it's a matter of magnetizing the energy you want to manifest than having more positive things around you might help.
Just a gentle FYI: both C's in "Circe" are usually pronounced with the "S" sound. Love the videos both long and short, my only complaint is that my Amazon wish list for books -- the vast majority from your videos -- is rapidly beginning to outweigh my wallet...!
Hey, Hearth. I have watched your channel for a long time now and I always found it enjoyable and informative. However, I just wanted to point out an aesthetic criticism in the font choice for your thumbnail. At first glance, I read "Books" as "Boobs". I got a good chuckle out of it as my mind knew the right word, but my eyes kept seeing the wrong thing.
I attended a virtual lecture by Thorn Mooney to promote her book put on by Religion for Breakfast. I'm actually a very beginner myself and I still found it way too basic (the lecture). It (the lecture at least) seemed to be aimed at academics who have very little understanding of real and modern witchcraft. I think if someone was at the very first inkling of looking into witchcraft it would be very helpful. Or, if you are not comfortable critically analyzing books and articles then absolutely, let a professional do it for you and get a good foundation that's relatively free from bias (nothing is totally free from it, we are humans after all). Unfortunately after that I don't plan to get the book, despite the fact I think it's awesome that she's a practicing witch in academia and providing scholarly works on the subject. Hope to see more in-depth offerings from her in the future. Super interested in the Hungarian and Alpine traditions books! I love to compare traditions to find synergies. I also want to say, that as a beginner, or maybe as a person who's read fairy and folk tales since I was a child and never stopped, some children's books on witchcraft have been the most illuminating for me. It's not super-super new, but I thought "Children of the Wood: A Child's Book of Folk Magic" was so lovely and gentle and absolutely got to the heart of things in a way that many of the books I've read thus far aimed at grown-ups just haven't.
There is nothing wrong with the length of any of your videos and we enjoy all of them
Agreed 🙂❤
100 percent. I skip the live Q&As because those are many hours long, but as far as the regular content goes, I love them.
Yes I love all of them and I LOVE the long long ones too. It takes me a long time to work through them but I love them so much 😄 and I do listen to them all
Yes!!❤
I love your long videos and am very grateful for the quality content your offer here.
I love the longer videos I listen to them while walking to the gym or doing chores I absolutely love it

I think it will be a good read for anyone though and will be getting it myself!!
Thorn herself has said she wrote this book as something to give to non-witchy folk to help them understand witchcraft. :-)
13:05 So happy to se hungarian books! I live here and practice hungarian folk magic, yet I haven't heard of Margit Tóth's work. Thank you for including it!❤
Happy to see the HearthWitch sign has made it to the wall! Looks great!
It looks like a halo.
I enjoy the long videos. I love to hit play, cook dinner or do a chore while listening to your lovely voice.
Lifting the Veil release date has been pushed out to Dec.10 in the US! Waiting not so patiently! haha Same with Inner Mysteries.
Lifting the veil and dream magick sound amazing to me. I am going to order lifting the veil now and pre order dream magick. Thanks so much for the book recommendations absolutely love them ❤

I LOVE your long videos
You look beautiful!!
You are absolutely radiant! Thank you for the incredible content as always, we enjoy the long videos and short videos alike. After the traumatic US election your channel feels like a much needed safe space.

I will add these books to my wishlist as I watch your videos:) I look forward to your reviews as a newbie witch
**Books** To the End! I think I will be getting a few of these books! Love your videos!

There were some interesting titles in those new releases, but I need a clear out first! I agree The Poison Path sounds like a good one 🙏

I haven’t watched yet as I’ve not the time. But, this series is my favourite and is guaranteed to be pleasing, however you approach the episode.

Hopefully Northern Mythology will become available on kindle since I practice Nordic Paganism
shout out to my dyslexia for being confused about how today is not the 24th of november. ill learn to read some day so i can check these out. 😂
Poison path grimoire sounds good.

Hey Hearth, have you read the Hekataeon? It's a book by Jack Grayle, available on miskatonic books.
thank you about to check the Mexican Magic. how do I access the list of books? cheers
But, i love the lengthy videos!
I’m in the US and Lifting the Veil comes out December 10th 😭
Previous publishing is no problem to me since updates include recent wisdoms.
Every time i glanced at the video i thought you had a halo over your head bc of the gold thing on your wall hehe 😇
thanku from uk
13:34 the g in magia is like the g in the word geese, not like the g in magick. so it would mah-gee-ah ✨️

The poison path Grimoire looks interesting to read from a reference rather than working with in a spell.
