    • @Subgunman
      @Subgunman 4 місяці тому

      Probably a mismatch between the sear angles and hammer. I built a 1911 on a para P14 frame, had the same issue with the sear on my build. Ordered a new sear from Brownells and it cured the issue. Always test with a dummy round. I bored out a solid copper projectile and seat this with a primer. This will tell you is there is an issue with the disconnect or or geometry of the sear and associated parts. BTW, that hole should be at least 1/8 inch in diameter to allow the primer gasses to pass without creating a squib round.

    • @Subgunman
      @Subgunman 4 місяці тому +1

      @@johndoe7270 possible however one needs to chamber the round from the magazine while holding down the trigger (pointed in a safe direction) to see if the round will discharge. We know that releasing the trigger should leave the firearm ready to fire when the trigger is released. One needs to try firing the blank while not depressing the grip safety as well. It should not fire. Same should be done with the safety lever engaged, it should not fire. When you release the safety and grip the pistol properly ( depressing the grip safety as well) the hammer should fall striking the primer at this point only. At this point it would be wise to have a second blank round in the mag and quickly rack the slide while all along holding the trigger down, it should not fire and should not fire when you release the trigger to reset the firing cycle.

    Toss a wilson combat or atlas sear spring in call it a day. The center spring on the sear spring controls the trigger tension going forward. Hammer fallow is from that. Bend it forward slightly if you experience Hammer follow. I have all 3 of the recall guns. None have original sear springs.

    • @kevinallies1014
      @kevinallies1014 4 місяці тому +1

      You have to have correct tuning between the Sear leg and the Disconnector leg of the sear spring. If they are misaligned with too much pressure on the Sear leg and/or not enough pressure on the Disconnector leg you will get hammer follow. It usually loses half cock before it actually hammer follows.

    A few months ago I bought a rock island armory double stack tactical 10mm 1911. I absolutely love it but.... The factory grips were broken out of the box and rock island did send me a broken new pair. They shipped them in an envelope. No packing. I might add that the grips are extremely thin because the grip is so fat due to it being double stacked. After receiving the broken new grips I emailed them and told them the grips were damaged due to piss pore packing and I never heard from them again. GOOD customer service and warranty work is hard to come by these days. Other than that I absolutely love the 10mm 1911. The tolerances are super tight and it runs smooth as butter!!!! And it's a tac driver!!! It's big and heavy but I carry it everyday!!!

    Something to consider when carrying a pistol for protection. If you use your weapon in self-defense the police are going to take it at least for a while. It's probably not going to look the same when you get it back, if you get it back. Why carry a $1500.00 pistol when a $ 400 pistol will do. If you don't get it back you're not out a whole lot.

    Thanks for the info! I just purchased my first Tisas, a service special 45 which I feel like I stole at $319 w/free shipping. My only other 1911 is an old, (2008ish) Para-Ordinance SSP which has been perfect, and like an old dependable friend. I took them both to the range for comparison when I received the Tisas, and was amazed at how well the Tisas performed compared to the Para which was proven with at least 2k rounds. Happy mines not recalled.

    I like my Stingray, I just wish it had at least front checkering…..it’s a little slick there. Btw, their cases feel like you could throw them out of a moving car and your pistol wouldn’t have a scratch on it.

    I sent my Tisas in for the recall, I also had an issue with nonengagement of the thumb safety. I swear, although it was new, they replaced most of the gun. serious customer service! Big props to Tisas. Because of the safety work, which involved cutting the slide, it took 60 days.

    I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I have not had any problems with my Raider, but i am going to send it in anyway at your suggestion. I am personally impressed with Tisas and SDS Imports as a company in that they are willing to make others aware of a potential problem AND foot the bill for the trip. It shows they are a stand up company.

    Thanks for posting this. I just got the 9mm Tanker a couple of weeks ago so I'm lucky in that it is not on the list. Like you I really like that little gun. I posted my video of it just last week. The thing shoots like a dream. I've since added some orange paint to the front sight as the black was just too hard for me to pick up. Anyway, thanks again for the info. It was very helpful.

    I wonder which part they suspect is the culprit? Hammer maybe or the sear? Possibly the disconnector or the sear spring? I am curious to find out once people start getting theirs fixed if it will say what they replaced.

    Pretty good thing,bringing this to people attention. Tisas is being cool about it too. I don’t have a 1911 yet. I wanted to get as close to a WW II GI type for my first. Was looking at a Garrison & a Tisas .both are pretty good looking guns. Was Leaning toward the Garrison trying to figure out the difference in 70 & 80 series 1911s and doing some homework in general …About the time I thought I had it figured out,the Garrison model id been looking at got pulled. Something about they figured they were selling it for to good of a value ,it disappeared for a while and then they marked it way up. Wish I had a model number to give you. It was very close in markings to the ones American Soldiers had in the war if im remembering correctly. Saw one locally but didn’t hold it.

    Important lesson in Engineering.
    One of the few products exclusively manufactured in the US.
    I'm an S&W M&P Compaq guy. Models prior to mine had a recall as well. Theirs was on drop.
    I was just watching Revolutionary War and Washington lost a few battles before he started winning.
    Never heard of Tisas but good show.
    There's a quite a few out there having problems.
    How do we deal with Failure.
    (ya know some people actually study failure - Failure Analysis ! lmao)
    I was quite surprised about the Sig problems and now some 10 mm Glocks according to Chucke Outdoor as well.
    got ya a sub for havin' to read my blabbing

    Seeing this, I’ll attempt to contact them again to get a fix. Companies hate class action lawsuits in the USA. Because they either lose I’m court or settle out of court.

    If the problem is hammer following, can’t we just test for this - drop the slide on empty 10 times to see if the sear engagement is adequate and leaf spring engagement is adequate. If it doesn’t follow then what’s the problem?
