We are in 2023 and we are still talking with excitement,/dreaming about Abba's music .As a child I couldn't overtake some people's rejection when i said i loved Abba at the time,neither the merciless critical abuse that Abba got from part of the press media.I wanna post a video that i call the 'ABBA effect' that could 'picture' my own reaction when the first 2 new Abba songs came out that September.I could easily relate my self to this Dutch persona.He is a huge Abba fan and his colleagues made a surprise for him doing an Abba medley starring OGN3.Just watch his facial expressions and body language!From the first seconds he gets it's Abba's music he gets upset.He partly looses his voice for a second and then he reaaaly strugles to hold his emotions and tears under a big 'oh it's all Ok' cool smile but the lump in his throat and his wet eyes betrayed him.That was also how i acted in front of others when i first heard 'SHUT" and "FAITH". having in mind that 'Men don't cry'.But when i was left alone i cried a river of burning tears.And iam a man but human too. On one hand Benny had explained in that Nov.'21 interview that they were all uncertain of putting these 2 songs in the Voyage album.But then discribed them as 'good stuff' but added that they needed much more work to be done so to get finished, at least by his side.
ABBA recent history has produced TWO NEW songs for an innovative and surreal virtual concert ,that then became an incredible album after 40 years .Why couldn't nor shouldn't TWO more NEW songs lead to another beautiful superb album that may well include an anthology set and be released as a 50th anniversary legacy, that would make the ABBA phenomenon complete and conclusive and bring their massive career and unselfish and unrelenting dedication to the world and their undying fans who love ,adore,appreciate and never forget them to eternal memory and never ending ecstacy.
Always a treat to see the new content in my feed BB! Those two unfinished songs will likely prove to be a final gift to us. With every passing year, having both girls in the studio again becomes much more unlikely. 😢

I think they enjoy a certain amount of intrigue. In the hours before the release of ISHFIY and DSMD in September 2021, well placed insiders were saying Abba was only doing a 5-song EP. We got a whole album. And for years, Abba was saying they wanted to be known as the band that never got back together. All I know is it's OK for me to die now, because I lived to see Abba reunite. :)
Excellent vid ! Remember we never saw I am the city until the 90s on More Abba Gold And that turned out to be excellent. Hopefully they might finish those 2 songs one day and they will appear .

The first makes me feel very uncomfortable in regard to what happened to poor Ted Gardestad (which if its true, Im sure it has no relation to!). The second one makes me think of 'I Still Have Faith In You'. Similar sounds and cylables so possible simply a working title which we know there were many of during ABBA's recording sessions. One of those typical ABBA only knows. Still despite the protests that Voyage is the last ABBA album, it seems clear how much the four enjoyed working together again so whatever they chose to do, I'm happy with. They've already given us fans more than we every dreamed of and as the years tick by and age creeps up on them, I just wish the health and happiness now. I think they've earned the right to do as they damn well please. As nice as some kind of Anthology with a couple of new songs would be.
what i found incredible is that every generation that discovers Abba wants to know the exact detail, the when, the where, the who of everything Abba do. And fortunately for the new young generation they had to the chance to 'live'Abba as we did, and have the same excitement as we did. xx

I think you're right, BB: these outtakes will either be used for something important like an important anniversary release, or they will never see the light of day. I Can be that woman is my fav from Voyage, I remember clearly the first time I heard it, it was on the eve of the Official Voyage launching, Abba Fan Club gave us a real treat by letting us listen to the whole album during a webinar, I simply cried with joy listening to the melody of this song and Agnetha's voice,,,,,I can listen to her all day
I have a feeling - based on the distribution of songs on Voyage - that one of the outtakes is an Agnetha-led ballad (of which we have only one) and one a Frida-led uptempo song (dito), which would make for a more even balance altogether… However, I‘m afraid that they will only be released if ever the ticket sales for the Voyage concerts slow down dramatically and a boost becomes necessary. That doesn’t seem likely at the moment.
I can confirm the Little Boots ‘Hit By A Train’ anecdote, as I was there at the Q&A organised by the Resident Advisor club night on the Southbank in London to coincide with the release of the Voyage album. There were three panellists-Little Boots, Carl Magnus Palm and the British music journalist and writer Pete Paphides. After the Q&A Little Boots and Pete Paphides did Abba DJ sets. It was a great night. Little Boots was responding to a question about what she thought of the album-she confessed that she hadn’t heard the final version but had been played some of it a while before by Benny in Stockholm. That’s when she asked if the song about a woman being hit by a train was on the released version? The impression she gave was that this particular track had made a big impression. Hope this helps clear up that mystery a little
Hey Bobby's Brother..it will be very interesting to see if any new material surfaces over the next 12 months to coincidence with the group 50 years anniversary..Byorn & Benny are professional enough to only release something if it is up to the standard they have always set..& despite the rumours & speculation if nothing becomes of it well we have already seen one of the biggest comebacks in music history despite being 'snubbed' by the award people..but who really cares about them anyway! My my, featured on a video! I don't know what to say, except for maybe reiterate my excitement over finding out that the more intense tracks of the album were actually made during the later sessions! Keep An Eye On Dan in particular is such an outlier because it doesn't really share a key with any other song of the album. I Still Have Faith In You shares key with the "Once this rooms were witness to our love..." verse, although I can't point exactly which one. Keep An Eye On Dan is D minor, which is interesting because it still is on the D scale, yet sounds so alien from the D major songs (When You Danced With Me, No Doubt About It and the last key change in Don't Shut Me Down).

ABBAchat forums had one of the outtakes listed as 'Hit Me Like A Train' the other is rumoured to be called 'My Story Ends With You' but no official confirmation of the songs has been released the forums also stated that 'Hit Me Like A Train' was recorded in 2019.
Hit Me Like A Train???!!! What a godawful title - definitely sounds like a working title! Then again, I thought Don't Shut Me Down was a terrible title until I heard the song.
ABBA Arena is about due for a song reshuffle. I was told by someone working there that ABBA have some songs which will replace some in the current program. Whether they are old songs or new songs with ABBAtars (or a mix) remains to be seen

It's their right to not release these songs if they're not happy about them. I'll be deliriously happy if they change their mind. "Voyage" is an incredible album. It's uncommon that a band comes back after 40 years and puts together such a flawless piece of work. I can see a "deluxe" version of "Voyage" being released with those two extras.
About that kinda 'speculated' jamming incident of Benny with Little boots and the tittle track 'Hit by a train'.I half think it might be true.I just give it 50 percent.And that's because i know Abba's past habbit to play unreleased material to relevant people just to test the waters.Similar thing happened in 1978 with JAN where Benny/Bjorn played it in some kind of a gathering i think somewhere in France and got positive comments on it no matter if they left it out of the VV album.Same happened when an Abba musician/friend had confirmed listening to "FAITH'/'SHUT' through Frida's mobile phone with Frida telling him it's only for private use and no recording was allowed,Gorel also said she got teary after listening to them.And last but not least let's not forget Abba's surprise private gig in Sweden in late 1979 right before they kicked off their 2nd world tour in order to check people's reaction.
Ode To Freedom can also be confirmed as being recorded in 2021, as in the ABBA Voyage EPK, at the one minute mark, we can see a lyric sheet bent over Frida’s music stand which has ‘Ode To Freedom’ written at the top of it. Seeing as I Can Be That Woman and Bumblebee are not concert material, we can almost be certain that at least one of the two outtakes was recorded in 2019.
Yes, you are right, and another proof is that Agnetha and Frida wear the same outfits during the recording of "Ode To Freedom" as they wear on the day they recorded "No Doubt About It" (in 2021). As Björn and Benny wear different tops, these songs must have been recorded on two days, probably of the same week. 🙂

I wonder what would have happened had the Covid epidemic not happened and things had gone on as scheduled. Would they have stopped at the two, perhaps three, songs? Would we have had a whole album like we did? Clearly the first priority of the reunion was the show, not the album. But with time...part of their focus changed. We heard about two songs...then we heard about a 5 song EP. Presume this would have been the first two songs and Bumblebee and I Can Be That Woman as well as one of the outtakes. A couple of years later it would seem, perhaps unsatisfied with this as a final product, they said something like, if 5, why not 10? Re-doing the track for Just A Notion meant one less song they'd have to do, so maybe it became an idea to do half a dozen songs and see what worked. Hopefully well see the two songs surface. More? Frida seemed game...but I wonder if Agnetha would be. Itd be nice...but these arent people in their 30s anymore.

Their like a prize fighter in a 15 rd Championship fight. Their behind on rounds but they regain their inner strength and a second win to come back and win the fight.. I think that they will re-do Just Like That and finish the 2 songs that are "resting." My reasoning is that Benny would prefer to finish them rather than know that once he is gone, somebody will go and finish them. He is a perfectionist and would not want that to happen,
That was very interesting and intriguing. The last time I heard Benny mention those 2 songs he implied they didn’t like them. To hear that they are maybe just unfinished is exciting. But for now I’m going to try to forget about it 😉
Maybe we'll get a "Deluxe Edition" of Voyage with a couple of 2 new songs added to the disc, in time for the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision win. There is also the possibility of adding remixes of the songs and even one or two live versions from the Voyage show. One can only dream I guess.
It would be wonderful to have a deluxe edition of Voyage with new songs and an instrumental version of the album! I know ABBA's mostly about Agnetha and Frida but you can hear the incredible work Benny and Bjorn put into the arrangements and recording process. Voyage is easily ABBA's best-sounding album.

Which I guess is why there are more uptempo songs made in 2021 to balance the now upcoming ABBA album. The 2017 -2019 has ony one uptempo (Don't Shut Me Down)
They did 5 songs in 2021. They did 3 in 2019 so logically it makes sense that the two unknowns would be done in 2019 to make 5 songs in each year. Also my guess is that the two unknowns would be released when Voyage goes global
If Benny is left handed, while talking about these songs, he is sourcing from his auditory memory. You can tell from the way his eyes move. If he is right handed, these songs could still be in his mind and he has not yet clear how to create them exactly. He is talking from his auditory creative side. But by the fact that his eyes go to his right ear, he is telling us that these songs exist. Right handed, they are still in his mind, left handed, he is playing them that same moment in his head. ❤
Terrific research BB. Does the recording studio keep records of what was laid down and when (as with the Beatles recording sessions). Or is this vital history lost?
Bobby, do you think Voyage will be released on DVD or BluRay when it closes. I think a lot of people are hoping for this. Interviews with the group and an in-depth documentry about the building of the Arena and how the Avatars were created.
I feel maybe saved for a deluxe version hopefully those two and a finished just like that sax version my favorite or maybe the two new songs will appear on solo projects by the woman i know rumors of Agnetha Fältskog to A are more likely possible then a new Frida but either it would be fantastic
The 2 unfinished songs and a reworked remix of JLT (i prefer the nanana version)would have been splendid for me plus A bonus cd with dance mixes of 'DAN"/"NDAI"/'SHUT"...Since l'm kinda greedy.
There are a lot more songs not released by ABBA, it would easily fit on the next new album, they could do it with the voice that is recorded on archival tapes.
They will never release any historical outtakes because they've always maintained they wouldn't. The medley on Thank You For The Music boxset is all we'll ever get.
I don't think we'll get a deluxe version of Voyage now, it's been over a year since the album was released. The Anthology album is more likely, whether it will include these two extra songs or not is down to Benny by his interview. We didn't expect a full new album in 2021 and we got it. The band members are not getting any younger and they will slow down their activities in years to come. We only mainly hear from Bjorn and Benny these days anyway.
Past time to complete the songs in "Undeleted." Not to be morbid but when the members pass, the record company will release them NOT up to ABBA's standards.
This last album is a real disappointement. We used to have magic albums from them. I m only listening to the ISHFIY, DSMD, ICBTW, Ode and Keep an eye on Dan.
This rumor is completely baseless, as I've only ever found about it on a few Twitter posts by the same user, who apparently got the info from an unknown Facebook source. But for the sake of it, this person was talking about a Deluxe Edition of the Voyage album for a date I can't really recall, but maybe is already due (I think it was November 2022). The names of the supposed tracks were "Hit By A Train" and "My Story Ends With You". As I've already said, nothing really supports this rumor, just thought it was interesting.
Yes i've also read in an Abba chat forum about these 2 working(?) titles and that "incident ' with Little Boots and about a 'sneaked' paper note or smth.But again all these might me again just speculations as you explain..Nothing confirmed.

I don't know what to say, except for maybe reiterate my excitement over finding out that the more intense tracks of the album were actually made during the later sessions!
Keep An Eye On Dan in particular is such an outlier because it doesn't really share a key with any other song of the album.
I Still Have Faith In You shares key with the "Once this rooms were witness to our love..." verse, although I can't point exactly which one.
Keep An Eye On Dan is D minor, which is interesting because it still is on the D scale, yet sounds so alien from the D major songs (When You Danced With Me, No Doubt About It and the last key change in Don't Shut Me Down).

ABBAchat forums had one of the outtakes listed as 'Hit Me Like A Train' the other is rumoured to be called 'My Story Ends With You' but no official confirmation of the songs has been released the forums also stated that 'Hit Me Like A Train' was recorded in 2019.
Hit Me Like A Train???!!! What a godawful title - definitely sounds like a working title! Then again, I thought Don't Shut Me Down was a terrible title until I heard the song.
ABBA Arena is about due for a song reshuffle. I was told by someone working there that ABBA have some songs which will replace some in the current program. Whether they are old songs or new songs with ABBAtars (or a mix) remains to be seen

It's their right to not release these songs if they're not happy about them. I'll be deliriously happy if they change their mind. "Voyage" is an incredible album. It's uncommon that a band comes back after 40 years and puts together such a flawless piece of work. I can see a "deluxe" version of "Voyage" being released with those two extras.
About that kinda 'speculated' jamming incident of Benny with Little boots and the tittle track 'Hit by a train'.I half think it might be true.I just give it 50 percent.And that's because i know Abba's past habbit to play unreleased material to relevant people just to test the waters.Similar thing happened in 1978 with JAN where Benny/Bjorn played it in some kind of a gathering i think somewhere in France and got positive comments on it no matter if they left it out of the VV album.Same happened when an Abba musician/friend had confirmed listening to "FAITH'/'SHUT' through Frida's mobile phone with Frida telling him it's only for private use and no recording was allowed,Gorel also said she got teary after listening to them.And last but not least let's not forget Abba's surprise private gig in Sweden in late 1979 right before they kicked off their 2nd world tour in order to check people's reaction.
Ode To Freedom can also be confirmed as being recorded in 2021, as in the ABBA Voyage EPK, at the one minute mark, we can see a lyric sheet bent over Frida’s music stand which has ‘Ode To Freedom’ written at the top of it. Seeing as I Can Be That Woman and Bumblebee are not concert material, we can almost be certain that at least one of the two outtakes was recorded in 2019.
Yes, you are right, and another proof is that Agnetha and Frida wear the same outfits during the recording of "Ode To Freedom" as they wear on the day they recorded "No Doubt About It" (in 2021). As Björn and Benny wear different tops, these songs must have been recorded on two days, probably of the same week. 🙂

I wonder what would have happened had the Covid epidemic not happened and things had gone on as scheduled. Would they have stopped at the two, perhaps three, songs? Would we have had a whole album like we did? Clearly the first priority of the reunion was the show, not the album. But with time...part of their focus changed. We heard about two songs...then we heard about a 5 song EP. Presume this would have been the first two songs and Bumblebee and I Can Be That Woman as well as one of the outtakes. A couple of years later it would seem, perhaps unsatisfied with this as a final product, they said something like, if 5, why not 10? Re-doing the track for Just A Notion meant one less song they'd have to do, so maybe it became an idea to do half a dozen songs and see what worked. Hopefully well see the two songs surface. More? Frida seemed game...but I wonder if Agnetha would be. Itd be nice...but these arent people in their 30s anymore.

If you ask me ,they have Gas in the tank and to carry on and keep knocking 'em out.! Their like a prize fighter in a 15 rd Championship fight. Their behind on rounds but they regain their inner strength and a second win to come back and win the fight..

I think that they will re-do Just Like That and finish the 2 songs that are "resting." My reasoning is that Benny would prefer to finish them rather than know that once he is gone, somebody will go and finish them. He is a perfectionist and would not want that to happen,

I’ve read somewhere that Little Things was the third song to be recorded in 2019 and Ode to Freedom was from 2021.
That was very interesting and intriguing. The last time I heard Benny mention those 2 songs he implied they didn’t like them. To hear that they are maybe just unfinished is exciting. But for now I’m going to try to forget about it 😉

Maybe we'll get a "Deluxe Edition" of Voyage with a couple of 2 new songs added to the disc, in time for the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision win. There is also the possibility of adding remixes of the songs and even one or two live versions from the Voyage show. One can only dream I guess.
It would be wonderful to have a deluxe edition of Voyage with new songs and an instrumental version of the album! I know ABBA's mostly about Agnetha and Frida but you can hear the incredible work Benny and Bjorn put into the arrangements and recording process. Voyage is easily ABBA's best-sounding album.
Thanks for all these great videos !! I wonder at what point during all this it was decided to make a full album ? Must be between 2019 and 2021 sessions. Which I guess is why there are more uptempo songs made in 2021 to balance the now upcoming ABBA album. The 2017 -2019 has ony one uptempo (Don't Shut Me Down)
They did 5 songs in 2021.
They did 3 in 2019 so logically it makes sense that the two unknowns would be done in 2019 to make 5 songs in each year.
Also my guess is that the two unknowns would be released when Voyage goes global
If Benny is left handed, while talking about these songs, he is sourcing from his auditory memory. You can tell from the way his eyes move.
If he is right handed, these songs could still be in his mind and he has not yet clear how to create them exactly. He is talking from his auditory creative side.
But by the fact that his eyes go to his right ear, he is telling us that these songs exist. Right handed, they are still in his mind, left handed, he is playing them that same moment in his head. ❤

Bobby, do you think Voyage will be released on DVD or BluRay when it closes. I think a lot of people are hoping for this. Interviews with the group and an in-depth documentry about the building of the Arena and how the Avatars were created.
The celebration of the 50th birthday saw the rerelease of Ring Ring so I don’t think those 2 outtakes will be released unfortunately.
I feel maybe saved for a deluxe version hopefully those two and a finished just like that sax version my favorite or maybe the two new songs will appear on solo projects by the woman i know rumors of Agnetha Fältskog to A are more likely possible then a new Frida but either it would be fantastic
The 2 unfinished songs and a reworked remix of JLT (i prefer the nanana version)would have been splendid for me plus A bonus cd with dance mixes of 'DAN"/"NDAI"/'SHUT"...Since l'm kinda greedy.
It would be fantastic to have another Agnetha lp but it would need to be far better than 'A'.
There are a lot more songs not released by ABBA, it would easily fit on the next new album, they could do it with the voice that is recorded on archival tapes.
They will never release any historical outtakes because they've always maintained they wouldn't. The medley on Thank You For The Music boxset is all we'll ever get.
Next year is the 50th anniversary of Eurovision, ie. Waterloo (1974), not the 50th anniversary of ABBA (1972).
I don't think we'll get a deluxe version of Voyage now, it's been over a year since the album was released. The Anthology album is more likely, whether it will include these two extra songs or not is down to Benny by his interview. We didn't expect a full new album in 2021 and we got it. The band members are not getting any younger and they will slow down their activities in years to come. We only mainly hear from Bjorn and Benny these days anyway.

This last album is a real disappointement. We used to have magic albums from them. I m only listening to the ISHFIY, DSMD, ICBTW, Ode and Keep an eye on Dan.
This rumor is completely baseless, as I've only ever found about it on a few Twitter posts by the same user, who apparently got the info from an unknown Facebook source.
But for the sake of it, this person was talking about a Deluxe Edition of the Voyage album for a date I can't really recall, but maybe is already due (I think it was November 2022).
The names of the supposed tracks were "Hit By A Train" and "My Story Ends With You".
As I've already said, nothing really supports this rumor, just thought it was interesting.
Yes i've also read in an Abba chat forum about these 2 working(?) titles and that "incident ' with Little Boots and about a 'sneaked' paper note or smth.But again all these might me again just speculations as you explain..Nothing confirmed.
