Porsche Cayenne Turbo S (955) - Winters Aren’t So Bad. Shooting Brake’s UK Road Review

- Dreading the start of winter? Begrudgingly chucking the cover over your sporty modern classic, and contemplating another 6 months behind the wheel of a dreary repmobile to get through our gritted, grimy roads? Here at ShootingBrake.Com, we have just the answer - a Porsche 955 Cayenne Turbo S. 513BHP, all-wheel-drive and various bits of off-road tech mean you’ll be able to go anywhere and get there fast, whilst heated seats front and rear mean you and your friends will be cosy in the process.
Ghaleb's here to tell you what this 2006 Cayenne is like to drive, and also to see if he can get past his dislike for SUVs and 4x4s. When you’re done with the video, make sure you head over to shootingbrake.com to see the listing in full, and consider subscribing to make sure you’re able to catch more videos on the cars that you love.

You did the 955 CTTS justice! Love your content 🎉
Thanks!
The active sway bars PDCC is pretty incredible, how flat they corner and then how soft they ride in a straight line (de coupled sway bar) is a credit to Porsche engineering
Ohh man. I have 955 turbo. Sometimes it start to feel that I need something fresh, but after I saw your review it becomes clear again. That's my choice. Agree with everything. Long trip easy. If cold winter it need some DEFA oil heater kit to be installed, cheep and useful thing.
And that car in review are in outstanding condition! ❤
Yes this was a stunning example!
Great video Ghaleb. Really high praise for the car, makes me wonder how these would feel compared to other road focused SUVs (feels wrong to use that term) like say, an X5is
Love it. I'm even going to bid on this one I think
Really enjoyed having this Cayenne for the day. As the video says, I'm not really into SUVs, but if you're going to carry around the additional bulk it could at least come with genuine practicality and off-road capability, which the Cayenne delivers in spades. Combine that with shockingly friendly on-road dynamics, bags of character and a design that has, against all odds, aged incredibly well, and you have an extremely cool way of getting around. Jealous of whoever lands the winning bid on this, it's as much a fashion accessory now as it is an incredible lifestyle companion.
You need to drive a pdcc equipped cayenne. You thought the turn was good.. just wait
Like the exterior of the 955; but not the dash; which reminds me of the 996 dash which I also dislike
Each to their own, we love the 996 dash design but recognise it's not for everyone!
Does it ever shut up ?
Used car salesman 👨💼
I can't understand this guy
Great video mate! Do you know how the 4.8 Turbo S compares to the 4.5?
I don't unfortunately, but I can happily report that the 4.5 is definitely not in need of any more power! I think the deciding factor between the 4.5 and 4.8 will be whether you prefer the facelift looks or not. I like both but the all-red taillights of the prefacelift swing it for me, plus I just love the fact that it is the original, unfiltered Cayenne that was so seared into my brain when it first came out.
Biggest difference besides the slightly different displacement is the 4.8 is direct injection whereas the 4.5 is port injection. So you get slightly less power & economy figures, but no need to worry about carbon fouling issues & carbon cleaning requirements with the intakes, which affects all direct injection engines.
Ture words and brilliant review... From an owner of an optioned out & baby'd black 955CTT. The PCCM+ modernizes... Underrated gem.
Did you have the pan roof and keyless entry ? And the third diff lock in back ?
My dream car. I like it in black though.
Ghaleb, another smashing video! I keep bidding on SB stuff, always such good stuff, perfect for an enthusiast. Such a good point about thinking “environmentally friendly” by buying old and recycling. Will be bidding.
In that colour it looks gorgeous
Great review I'm after the facelift version.
