Saw your old video of making the impoundment and I am incredibly impressed. I am going to do this one day. You may eventually want to expand it or figure out a way to control the water. (expensive but you could probably figure out a way to divert from somewhere, but I'm not sure where you are located and how much water is around). Is that a random bufflehead? lol. Glad to see your work pay off.
I’m thinking about expanding it over this summer. I have a pond 1200ft away that I can get water from. I need to purchase the pipe and a pump to do that. Glad you like it though!
It didn’t hold water prior, but it would stay moist/boggy through out the year. It’s a low spot that receives a lot of run off. The current water source is run off only, makes it a little unpredictable but 1 good rain does fill it up.
This is awesome. I hunt in Sacramento California area and we are trying something like this. Would love an update! Weird season for us (wildfires then super dry) but we had a solid finishing month in January. How did you end up doing?
Looks good Colby. Glad yall finally got some rain out there. Keep up the good work!

Anymore videos coming out ?
I will make an end of the season wrap up soon. Then throughout 2021 I’ll be showing any improvements/planting for the upcoming season
10/4 sounds good
Did this area hold water before you built it up / dammed it? Also what is the water source? Just ground water run off?

What type of millet did you use?
I planted a mix from turners seed. Had Japanese and brown top millet along with some other stuff. It did well and I will use it again next season
Great video thanks for sharing

It was a rough year. Half the season was dry and the entire season was warm. Never had big numbers.
Looks great! What part of Texas are you in?
South eastern
