    This was an interesting one as I love bags. While I am not a fan of Bond wearing (in Matera) what is essentially the outfit of an Italian contadino (🤣🤣 sorry, it's true), the luggage really is on point. That ocean green is so, well, British and I think much more in line with traditional Bond brands. The rivets and locks gives it an old world look, sturdy too and compliments his DB9. Having said that, I would love to see him with something leather, the black double Palissy bag from Carl Friedrik I reviewed late last year would suit him perfectly IMO. Designed in London, hand made in Tuscany, sounds very NTTD don't you think?
    Anyways, great video as always, thank you David.
    Cheers,
    T.

    I LOVE the look of this set but honestly, $8000 is insane for what is essentially cardboard. By comparison, I bought a six piece set of custom luggage, all in quality, heavy duty and matching tan leather for my Ferrari California. My girlfriend and I enjoy touring and spent all of September on the road in Europe... from Denmark to the south of France and back. The California is tight on space so the luggage is designed to optimize every inch available and had more than enough capacity for us both for 4 weeks of travels and all her shoes lol. The whole set is superb, Ferrari branded and cost me less than $2500.

    Top Tip. I see people making this mistake all the time with 4 wheel luggage. Whatever you do, do not use it on 2 wheels, you end up rubbing down the wheels on one side more than the other which then makes it uneven on one side making it unbalanced when using 4 wheels. I used to work in the industry just i case anyone wanted to know. Other than that, great review as always David.

    Wonderful review David and what better place to do a review then the beaches of the Caribbean!
    While the color is stunning, I have a very difficult time justifying paying $8,000 for a three piece set of fibreboard luggage!
    That’s more than the last two cars I bought recently (2008 Honda Fit Sport and an imported JDM spec 1991 Honda Beat roadster)! I hope Her Majesty’s Secret Service Ministry of Finance doesn’t catch wind of this purchase! 🤣

    In your very well done videos and the Globe-Trotter photos, the luggage looks really high quality. Unfortunately, when I visited a shop in my hometown to check out their luggage, I was quite disappointed. I find that the luggage looks pretty cheap especially the vulcanised fibreboard. All the luggage they have was 50% off but still overpriced for me. I would rather spend more and get a genuine leather trunk. Nevertheless I always enjoy watching your videos

    My grandfather was Fleming's neighbor in Jamaica. Spent many a night at my grandfather's after a quite indulgent level of adult beverages! The big negative with this piece from a practical standpoint is that it is 4.2kg or about half of the weight allowance for most airlines...empty! One could argue that it would be more likely to be loaded onto a Gulfstream rather than a B-737....but...... ;)

    These do look lovely and I might have considered it were I still travelling as much as I used to for work. These days, though (and espeically since covid), it'll be a long time til I'd even consider dropping £2k on a suitcase.

    Great luggage looks fantastic right up to the point a baggage handler takes charge of it during your journey. For the money I would use it in country on road trips but not on OS trips as the Airlines have no respect for peoples belongings. I have had two experiences with my bags been split open on a return trip through mis treatment of baggage. This luggage is wonderful to look at but from a practical sense unless your a millionaire and don't care about transit damage as just part of the experience with this luggage its best to buy the 500 dollar flexible non break case that will last a few years until its weathered then replace.

    Great video, unfortunately I can not help but agree w previous reviewers that the luggage is not a good value. Our family prefers the Filson luggage. It is a little pricey but overall a better value, with unbelievable customer service and lifetime warranty. How will fiberboard look in 10 years of use?

    “No sound…listen…it’s just the sound of the ocean” For $2500, you get no sound. Great. Now…how much a year do you have to spend to maintain a private jet and a pay a valet’s salary to make sure the luggage isn’t destroyed by a commercial airline? I don’t think that answer is in Globetrotter’s press kit.

    David a question for you if i may....Will you likely to be reviewing the Royale filmwear version of this jacket in the near future please ??

    • @pcmacintyre
      @pcmacintyre 3 роки тому +1

      I have the Royale and the Connolly. The Royale is a darker blue and more uniform in color. The Connolly is more a heather or mottled blue. The body and sleeves of the Royale are slightly longer which is a plus. The biggest difference between the two is the fabric. The Royale is 70% heavier than the Connolly. It's warmer and drapes a bit more as a result. Hope that helps.
