In this week's episode, we attempt to be come better chefs by pretending to be food critic's. After failing to impress Uncle Roger, we decided to take matter into our own hands and learn to cook. Since we didn't want to pay for real cooking lessons, we decided to pretend to be food critics in hopes of speaking to the chef's in the back kitchen.
Big shutout to Donatello! Great and kind staff!

So true. That said, I wonder if critics only come at certain times of year. I dine solo pretty often and, contrary to people's warnings, I've never once received special treatment (which is to say I've never been mistaken for a food critic.) I guess maybe part of the subtlety of critics now is that they never dine alone as to not be so obvious.

Just a tip. Food critics are usually very confident and calm. Maybe curving yourself together and making tricks with your pen isnt the best idea if you want this to succeed every time. Another tip is also to try being more formal and dont say things like "oh shoot" and when they present an idea saying "okay" isnt the greatest idea either. If someone says what she did at 2:17 maybe one of the better answers will be "alright I will let you know", "of course" or just a simple "thank you". That way you sound more formal. Saying "do you know who I am" before you even get your entre is not very great either. Food critics usually wants to stay disguised till the end so they do NOT get special treatment. Try eating what you came to eat and then after ask to see the chef and tell them who you are

Yeah, the counters are clean, and the general area where food moves around is clean, but the floors are dirty as hell half the time. It's also a bit unorthodox to ask to see the kitchen. I also doubt the staff would have wanted to be filmed as well.

As a professional food critic for 6 years now (in the higher levels of the profession), 95% of the time we tell the restaurants we are coming so they can be at the top of their game. To publish an official review without their knowledge is disrespectful and can get critics banned from higher-end restaurants. We also don't take notes anymore since the 90s. It is not like the movies. The 5% that are not told ahead of time are for articles that compare the establishment to other places like "The best Italian Restaurant in Chicago," or for an award. Even then, we tell the Restaurants that we will have reviewers come in between a certain time period, and we give them a rubric and standards with what they will be reviewed on. This video was literally laced with disrespect. You could have gotten better results if you told the restaurants ahead of time that you would be coming to review the restaurant for your UA-cam Channel and would like to see the Kitchen staff work, they would have obliged and be more welcoming with you filming. Other guests of the Restaurant take priority over rude guests that just come in with a camera when that may seem stressful to the workers and other guests.

I mean the whole point was to be FAKE not actual critics if they did all of this then at that point they are not faking being critics and are actual just critics.

    • @patrickpet7905

@@xenogaming9600 they said they wanted to get benefits by acting like critics. The main goal was to see the Kitchen staff work. They could have done a better job without disrespecting the establishment or the other guests, AND have gotten better results.

Yes. But also, if they had informed earlier the restaurant would have researched about critic’s name on the web to no avail

But you are a critic..the whole point is to catch them at the time when they are not on their game! Why would you warn them that you are coming then everything will be fake and not to usual status..act like a usual customer let them serve you what they serve everyday not just because a critic is coming..makes no sense honestly

Reminds me of a time when I went to a job interview with a notepad. 😂
The dude literally asked me what I was doing with the notepad. I shot back rather angrily “whatever you’re doing with yours”
I got the job but was fired soon after. They didn’t like how I actually knew HR stuff and that I didn’t tell them I had HR “training” (my mom was HR)
