As a lifelong Red wing fan who started watching them in mid seventies, just as they hit rock bottom, that was one of the happiest days of my life.
One of the great memories that you live your life for,and will never forget.
Great job by CBC on this.
Hockey Town may have grown dark in the last few years, but she will never go down for the count.
She will be back, and sooner then some people may think today, with a new GM hopefully.
The Wings are to hockey along with a few other teams,as the Yankees are to baseball.
    An icon and a legend.
And as all icons and legends they are greatly loved by their followers and greatly hated by their foes.
That's the emotions a legend creates.
As long as their is a national Hockey league and as long as young boys dream of dancing on center ice with the Stanley Cup,the Wings and their one of a kind cherished logo, will live on.
    Many times a champion.
    Many times a contender.
Sometimes for peroids, like the last few years, beaten and lost.
But in the end,a legend never really dies.
The lights may dim for awhile, but always with the certainity, that the lights will shine again,as brighter, maybe even brighter then ever before.
    Because,
A true champion,a true legend never goes down for the count.
They may be battered, bloody and knocked down, but before the count hits 10 they will get back up and fight to see another day.
The wings will be back and once again the NHL will be better for it.
And good luck to Las Vegas a miracle Cinderella story for our lifetimes.

Good job by McLean and CBC here.
It was unfortunately not an "endless summer" for Detroit. The summer ended, as it is, 6 days later. But the run to the Cup in 1997 will never be forgotten by a generation of Wings' fans.

My love for Ain’t No Mountain High Enough is only because of this.

At least twice they used Diana Ross for the Wings. Also for 2008, Love Hangover.

Ron didn't participate in covering games 2 & 3 because he attended Don Cherry's late wife Rose's funeral.

I wished the CBC used a better song for this montage. Can’t stand it!
