That is the best time to drive your classic on a sunny Autumn day with all the yellow leaves flying around , just magical!

Honestly after I got my 1971 mk4 it was the best feeling and decided to put a 1500 out of a triumph dolomite. So much fun bit more poke than normal still just a symphony of perfection to drive and cruise.

I love these cars. In 1998 I bought a 1966 Sprite and had it cleaned up and enjoyed it a great deal. Several years ago I bought a 1963 Sprite on eBay for $1300. It's finally about to go out on the street after lots of work done by my buddy Noel at NOC Automotive in Clifton NJ. I am looking forward to driving it. Great video. I will probably do one of my own videos soon. Thanks!

I just put my 64 back on the road after a lengthy absence. I've had it for 25 years, had every single nut, bolt, screw and clip off the car at least once and it still looks like crap. I forgot how much fun it is to drive though. They are basically street legal Go Karts. Nice to see the prices going up finally. In the early 80's you could buy one and drive it away for 100 bucks.
I saw it happen a couple of times.

I really enjoyed the video and I happen to own a British racing green '69 Sprite. It's been parked in my garage for the past 10 years. On 9/11 I had the trans in pieces on the bench. I had blown 2nd a couple of weeks prior to and I remember thinking how I better get it together if I wanted to hang on to it. Anyway I did, then drove it a few more years before parking it. My first car was a '63 midget. I bought a '69 British racing green Sprite in 1976 and used it as a daily driver for many years. My current Sprite came along in the late 90's. It has a lot of sentimental value, but I've really lost interest in the care and feeding of the poor thing so there it sit's. Since then I've had three BMW's the latest a very sweet 2003 E46 M3. Sentimentality is one thing but there's no substitute for the pleasure and performance of the ultimate driving machine! So the Sprite's for sale but I haven't hung a sale sign on yet... I have a fair number of parts with it also. anyone with interest can email me at "elhombre833@gmail.com" . Name's Mike I live near Annapolis Md.

Some memories there.... I paid $650 for my first car, a used '67 AH Sprite. It was mechanically sound but had electrical issues that sometimes left me stranded. I remember riding my bike to work sometimes because of that, 16 miles one way. But, super fun to drive.

I believe David Janssen drove either this particular model or the MG midget in Harry O...the 70's tv series. ♐

I have a 62 Mk1 MG midget. The same car with a different badge and with a tad more chrome. She's a little rough and ready but yes, certainly a head turner. Twisty coastal or country roads are amazing to drive these cars on. There's something to be said for simplicity and feeling everything directly and mechanically through the car as you drive.

Brings back memories of my 67. Especially doing donuts in a dirt lot. Unfortunately, when I did it, it shaved about half the teeth off first gear. Doh!!!

I can't believe there's so little interest out there. Only one comment ?!!
I had one of these back in '73, when I was 26. I loved driving it so much that I would go out every day, as soon as I got home from work and stay out till I was dead tired, usually around 3 a.m. Affected my getting to work on time. Guess you could say my "habit" was impinging on my life. Anyway, this was in New York City. The streets there are awful - not 2 feet of level road in a row. Just lumps or pot holes. So the ride was quite bouncy, what with the stiff springs. Had to stop often to urinate! =)
It ended up getting stripped by hoods in the street. Bad place to keep a car that is so easy to get into. You could if you choose, just let off the hand brake and take it away.
In any case, I had a great time in it. Steering is awesome. You can do a u - turn w/o slowing down and come back on the other lane, making people wonder if it's the same car! And top - down, it's marvelous, watching the trees pass over you. Lovely experience in general. By the way, I got mine for $600 and I had to borrow it from my father in law ! Hope you enjoy the stories. Enjoy your beautiful car. I'm always glad to see young people being interested in these types of cars. Can never understand why any kid wouldn't love to drive one of these.

+axiomist Driving a car like my Austin Healey Sprite, or my 1964 Corvair Convertible, or even my Porsche 911 SC is truly an amazing and unique experience. Federal government regulations have created a car culture that is a lot less driver oriented than the cars of the past. It's amazing to drive a car with that was entirely engineered for the joy of driving. No electronics or computers to save you if you do something wrong. Cars like the Sprite are not for the faint of heart or people who don't know how to drive a performance car. I love every minute behind the wheel! These classics that I mentioned are true time machines.

+drivinivankatz Do you know about "bugeyeguy" ? Just look 'im up in the 'tube. He put a Toyota 5 speed tranny in one Bugeye. Has full synchro, so you can roll thru the corner while shifting into first. You should do it to this Sprite. Then you could cruise on the highway w/o your fillings getting loose ! Check it out and watch.
