I spoke to Genetics, and he said he leveled Ymir in the order 3, 1, 2, 4.

Even though it didn't go well I think busting it out in game 5 knowing he's such a feast or famine pick was honestly so cool.
Really not a good idear though. I felt they lost when he locked it in.
@Skaatje eh perhaps hindsight bias but it's certainly a very good pick into Dragons comp and a good wall could immediately be a win condition. Also, Genetics is historically one of the best wallers in the game, not just in Ymir but also with Terra 2 so I think the pick made sense at the time.
He’s not really feast or famine the pele is feast or famine. The dragons just outplayed after getting outdrafted
I just want to know why Oni didn't give Genetics Athena? Twice. Jungle Athena was not it.

During the double kill at mid harpies, Pegon aegis'd before using his dash and then when he went to dash PBM caught the dash with the aoe pull on the 1/2 combo and cancelled Pegon's dash pulling him back into Lasbra and Dardez damage. Pretty sick play.
Wasn't with the 1-2 combo bluetooth pull but he did catch Pegon's dash with his regular 2 pull, you're right on that :)

Thanks pol, great commentary. Yeah I guess the major mistake was the first blood at mid harpies, and it only spiraled down after that.
I was all for the Dragons winning over the Warriors, I just did not think it was gonna happen. Seeing the Ymir pick from Genetics I really thought it was over, I recall last year when he was on the kings he literally put a Ymir wall between one of his carries and an enemy tyr blocking his fearless.
But this year the dragons were just...better. It's funny, I asked you on stream before worlds what does it take for a team that isn't favored to win. You said momentum... well you were right xD

Never minded the pick as much as much as I minded that in general it seemed like the same hunger wasnt there a lot of the year for genetics and seemed like he was not pushing at the same level as he was the year before with the kings
yeah, very very difficult wall to hit but he did time it poorly. im guessing he was trying to seperate the Ishtar dash and the Pele ult, but he did it too quickly
Yeah, that's exactly what he was going for, would have been the only way for Netrioid to survive

@@MrNightRome yeah cos there logic was Merlin counters Peles dive cos he can wall her from her target but the dragons played incredibly passive so that he would never have a chance to kill pele. Then Merlin was late game Merlin and coast was late game hachi
Never play ymir on low blood sugar
I could see the arguments for Ymir countering the Dragons, and I'm shit at the game, but I rarely have a good Ymir into Merlin. Merlin just chucks shit at you constantly while you're self rooting. The freeze stops a pele dead, but if you miss it - which is easily done when she's zipping around - she kit dumps you. Atlas' movement too, he just gets there first every time, and survives.
I feel like Sam's Athena would have gone well, it's still not ideal but better movement with similar CC. Love them both, but Pani and SoT had the worst game here imo, only so much a guardian can do.
Am I the only who thinks terra was a better pick in that game 5?

Stats on Thebes are just so much better - both provide 200HP, Sov is 35 phys prot and a 15 prot and 25 hp5 aura, evolved Thebes is 45 phys and mag prot, and a 10 phys and mag prot aura. Even against 4 phys, Thebes is pretty often worth going, it's just overstatted once stacked.
