ugh, yes, please someone say something uplifting here.
i was against getting a cat because i didn’t want to get attached to a creature and then have to watch him become decrepit and disappear. despite my objections, we have a beautiful Siberian, and i love him more than i thought i could, but i know sooner or later that other shoe will drop; it haunts me.

I farewelled my nearly 19 year old Tabby boy Indi a week ago and there’s no denying the inevitable sadness and grief of losing a beloved pet. I’m comforted by the fact that I gave Indi a loving home and the best life a cat could have. In time I will get another kitty (a senior shelter cat) they’re great companions, so many cats need a home and give so much love in return. 😻🐈🐈‍⬛😻

@@doctaflo I specifically adopted an elderly cat (his personality is the polar opposite to the grumpy little miss in this video.) I wanted to give a cat a place to retire too and live out their autumn years.
I know my time with him will be short, but every day he lets me know he how much he appreciates me giving him this opportunity. And every day with him is better than the last.

My grandma had a cat exactly like this, who hated every living being, particularly kids, but loved my grandma. However when the cat got really old, around 18 years of age, he switched completely and became the most loveseeking cat ever and would accept pettings and cuddles from everyone. He died at the age of 21.

I find it baffling that one of my older uncles, played with that cat when he was a child (and he is also part of the reason why that cat wasn't fond of kids) and I knew the cat aswell when I was a kid.
It actually had to be euthanized in the end due to some sickness aswell as my grandmother couldn't care for it much due to her own illness. Otherwise the cat would propably have lived even longer!

I adopted the sweetest little orange tabby kitten who had the sniffles. Leads than6 months later he was dying in my arms at the vet. He was very sick and would never get better. So, I planned to wait a year before getting a new pet, but I was lonely after Chester died so I ended up adopting a strange grey and white tabby kitten who doesn't allow me to hold or cuddle with her. She rarely let's me pet her... In fact I will be bitten or scratched if she sees my hands get to close to her. YET.... she sleeps in a little pink cave bed beside my pillow every night, as long as she's not under my covers snuggled up with my legs or feet. She has definitely bonded with me. I feel like her mama. She was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and given Prozac. But it was more traumatic trying to make her take the dumb strawberry flavored medication than it is dealing with her quirks. Although I admit, I sure would love a cat to snuggle with me.

Im hooked. I love her soo much and she reveals a little more of herself as she becomes more comfortable. Definitely have to earn a cats trust, but once you do… the bond is unbreakable.

It was adorable because with me he was a kitten at heart: loved to play and could even be silly at times. With others, he had a serious stare and acted like the palace guard and ruler of the house!

the smarter the cat, the more they pick up on their human's cues: if this lady cringes and says to people, as they reach out to the cat, "Ooh, no, I wouldn't touch her!", kitty absolutely picks up on that reaction, and becomes wary, right away. Seriously, cats learn by imitation.

And from Austin. Love, love, love Austin. Lived there for 25 years and moved to Tucson. Why? One of my impulsive decisions before I was fully grown.
Have an all black cat including then nose, the whiskers and paw pads, but the eyes are demandingly bright green.
He is a reject from a druggy family, had his claws removed and was beaten over the head when he bites.
I like to fix broken everythings, so he kept pounding my door to get in, just like a little drum. Well, I did. I now leave the door open about an inch, oiled the sill of the patio door and he uses his nose and head to come in. I blocked the rest of the door with a wooden stick. BUT, surprises are frequent, presents that is. From little snakes, to geckos to whatever he can catch, lands in my bed. The present of the day!

The cat I had years ago, beautiful sleek black and white male, in his prime was 10kg (approx 22 lbs). He was huge! A very dominant personality. He would lay on the footpath in front of the house waiting for people to pass by. If they didn't stop to pat him, he'd give their ankle a swipe with his claws. Became quite well known in the neighbourhood. I had to grab him of the road on day. He had forced a car to stop. He wouldn't get off the road. Then proceeded to wander around it. The guy driving thought He was hilarious.
I had to give him mild sedation before going to the vet. He HATED any vet. Would turn into a feral spitting, hissing, screaming, scratching, biting crazy. Usually took vet, 2 assistants and me to get him under control. Always took a few weeks for my wounds to heal. First vet we saw, once the cat was an adult, was very worried about his behaviour.thinking he acted same at home. He never displayed that side of him on his territory. He just hated the vets.🤣

Kudos to kitty's confidence, and a funny situation, but omg that would have me worried sick to know my cat would stop in the middle of the road when there's a car coming. Maybe you mean a small residential street with light traffic, but still. Any time I see an animal in the road I feel very grateful for good eyesight, but worry about what happens when others who don't see as well or aren't paying attention are driving. You're lucky that guy noticed and had a good sense of humor about it. If I saw my cat do that, he'd be supervised outside after that. Maybe on a harness.
I also wanted to say, I do know what you mean about the vet. It's amazing how one could be so shortsighted as to fail to realize that the cat could behave differently at home! Even when you go to the doctor, they know some people have "white coat syndrome" and their BP goes through the roof when they're at the doctor, merely *because* they're at the doctor and stressed about being in a clinical setting. I once had a cat who survived a canine attack and dragged herself back home but was unable to walk properly with her back legs after the attack, and one of the vets had the nerve to suggest that she couldn't walk *before* the attack... because she was overweight. And she wasn't even _that_ overweight, although she weighed more when we first took her in, but had lost some weight as she became more active. She was a big fluffy Maine Coon. They are generally quite large cats. But especially at a time like that, in an emergency, I found the insinuation to be not only absurd, but offensive.

This made like incredibly difficult for other household members to even live in their home. She was getting worse with age. The last "emotional support animal" I owned was a Yorkie, and it was more like I was his "emotional support human". He passed away recently. But thank goodness for Tildy, my 2 yr old Maine Coon cat. She is so intuitive to me and my moods and welfare. She's always been loving, but I recently had a bad three days with my asthma, when I couldn't get the proper medication I needed due to an idiotic hospital E.R., but that's a whole other story. So, during that time, I had to lay in bed and not move, just trying to keep my anxiety to a minimum. Usually, she sleeps on my bed with me, beside me in her 'soft spot' which she knows to stay in (her long fur will trigger my asthma if she snuggles under my chin). So I finally dozed off late one night, and woke up later than usual the next morning, to find her laying scooched up next to me as far as she could get without being in my 'breathing space', which she seems to understand is neccessary. She was just chilling there staring calmly and watchfully at me. She's never done that before, and hasn't since then. And usually, if I'm not up by six or seven in the morning, she will prowl around me meowing and jumping on and off the be to signify her displeasure. She truly is my emotional support helper, calming me down when I'm having anxiety, and coming to me just to be near me, even if I can't pet her because of her long fur that just flies around the room at the slightest touch. We are truly a pair. It's just her and me. She doesn't really like or tolerate anyone else. I rescued her from an apartment parking lot across the street. I and the residents that helped me capture her think that her owners moved and just left her there. She always laid in the same exact spot, like it had been her owner's parking spot. So sad. They could have at least dropped her at a shelter if they couldn't care for her anymore.

Wishing you and your cat a long and happy life together. She is awesome. I had one that looked just like her "Pumpkin" and she was an "Alpha" as well and everything went after "her way". Over the years I learned from her to deal with it and I did. It also took me years to be able to hold her, it was on "her" terms after all. Towards the end of her long life (she lived until about 18 years old), she would actually sleep with me, that was about in the last 5 years. I miss her dearly and her strong "in charge" personality. Enjoy every day with your perfect cat! ♥

    What a pretty cat.
This reminds me of how my old cat Sasha would react to my mom. My grandmother was the one who owned her, so my mom would only interact with Sasha when she came by to see me, or pick me up or drop me off. When Sasha saw my mom, she'd actually come up to her, and try to _bite_ her ankles. Sasha also had a habit of biting my grandmother, either when she was bored or if my grandma would tease her (which was often). Pretty much once or twice every day that I visited I'd be in my room, and I'd hear "Ow!" followed by my grandma arguing with Sasha about biting her.
All Sasha would do, if I were to stop petting her for example, would be just smack me with her paw. Weird, but I loved and still love in memory that sweetheart of a kitty...

I had the cat that was the exact reverse. King Mo as we called him would greet ANY visitor Human or Animal and then go back to what he was doing. He was so good at greeting that one of my Dad's friends that did NOT like cats would always pet Mo when he visited!

Awww. I have loved cars since I was very young. It broke my heart to hear you say she is getting older now. I can relate to that myself right now. 🥹. She is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Awww he’s a gorgeous kitty and looks very similar to the cat we rescued . He is also not overly friendly with new people and being honest I do think he’s not that bothered about us either 😂 he gives me a look that says “ I will tolerate you human as long as you keep feeding me “

I had a female like this. It wasn't her fault. I had to work so much she became aggressive because of my time away. I never blamed her.

She actually reminds me a lot of my sister's old cat (rip Cindy). She was a real "one person" cat, hated/disliked everyone else, even my niece when she was born. Apparently my sister had saved her from an abusive home, and that's one reason why she only trusted her. Had I known that I would have been more accepting of being held hostage on the couch for hours when left alone with the cat 😂
Meanwhile, the cat I had (rip Skrollan), was 100% a dog in a cat's body. Loved every singly human, learned tricks like a champ, stopped bringing in birds after I scolded her (she took in a living blackbird), chilled with the roedeers, loved water, loved fetch. My conclusion, my cat was a dog 🤣 she even scared the irish wolfhound that lived down the street because he wouldn't play with her 🤣🤣

Cindy didnt like your niece because for her, your niece stole part of the affection she used to get.Cats are jealous pets.

    • @lina9535
      @lina9535 2 роки тому +1

@@agneyfernandes And yet Cindy wasn't an attention seeking cat. She never ran straight up to my sister all like "love me, pet me, affection please".
Also, I think that's quite a broad assumption to make. The cat I had, which was the cat my sister had after Cindy passed away, she loved my nephew when he was born, he just happened to be a bit allergic so I got to take care of the cat.
Like 99% of all the cats I've ever met haven't been jealous. I've met more dogs that were jealous, pushing inbetween to also get hugged when the humans are hugging, almost smothering a cat that's getting pets in my lap because the dog wants pets too, etc.
If we want to talk about a really jealous pet to own, that's a parrot. I don't mean the small ones, but like a grey parrot, and of course it also has to do with the personality of the animal in question (that goes for every animal you can own, seriously try to find the video with the girl whos ferret hates her boyfriend, it's hilarious).
I don't know if you've seen these videos or not, but they were popular for a time, a couple had either a dog or a cat, that wasn't the biggest fan of kids, or was very "needy", etc, and they were worried if they could keep said animal when they had their baby. But once the baby arrived, the animal was totally chill, a bit curious, but quickly started to love the baby. Some of those videos were cats that would scratch kids, can't blame them, kids need to learn that animals aren't toys.

I wonder if you had a Ragdoll or Ragamuffin, since they're considered the "dogs of the cat world". My Rag is exactly the same, except she doesn't 'love' water but she'll put up with it. I've taught her tricks and she listens to commands. When walking her (on a leash), she's incredibly responsive to where I'm guiding her. However, if I decide to trust her by bringing her out without a leash, she'll try to run off & chase something she sees - thankfully she'll freeze as soon as I command her to stop. Only time she hesitated and kept going was to chase a cat off our property. Otherwise, she's obedient and the most lovable creature. Sometimes I imagine losing her when she gets older and burst into tears, my family always shakes their head at me and wonder why I love to torture myself lol. Idk I just think it's smart to prepare myself, but ugh it hurts! I have no clue what I'll do without her, I'd be inconsolable.

@@lina9535 cats are quite different lol
All cats I had and have were found by me/my parents as strays (although some of them were and are phenotypical breeds), so it’s not exactly the reason, but some of them were and are really jealous
The level could be hilarious, like wake up and run to you if you’re talking with other cat&petting him/her
