    Nonsense panelists. A delusional, half-knowledgeable bunch. Nigerian panelists will never spew such petty nonsense. Nigerian entertainment industry is organic -there were no panels; no meetings; no agenda. It's a bunch of hardworking, ambitious, and focused young boys and girls doing music for love of it and love of the money and having fun while at it. There is no sentiments about it. No nationalistic agenda. We are proud of them .

    Guys stop saying Nigerian artistes are copying from your artiste. It is the other way around. Also, I will also like to inform and stated categorically to the panel that Afrobeats and highlife did not originates from Ghana. All West African countries had their own different highlife music which is very distinct and recognisable to the area where it was originated. Ghanaians entaintament industry and especially their so called musical experts and influencers are always pushing a narrative that Afrobeat originated from Ghana and Fela came to Ghana to steal it. I wasn't convinced about that narrative at all. Most Ghanians entertainment experts are misinforming their listeners and it is about time they put the record straight. Nigerian music is diverse and it cut across different tribes, it is travesty and disheartening to hear that all different genre of music started from Ghana. It is a BIG BIG LIE!

      Na wa oh. The moment anybody go to Ghana and they become something Ghana people will claim that they taught u everything u know. If Nigerian artists went to Ghana to learn how to make hit song then that should not be a problem for Ghana to give us hit songs consistently now. Stop trying to take credit for other people's work, try to Create ur own. Stop trying to compete with Nigeria, it is a lost battle. Focus on making songs that the world will vibe to and then properly promote it. As far as u Ghanaians continue to see Naija as ur competition, u will never win. Tanzania and South Africa should be competing with Nigeria not Ghana.

    You know if Afrobeat/AfrobeatS is Ghanaian, you'd have titled your video "Taking Afrobeat/Afrobeats global" and not "Taking Ghana music global".
    But you know what? Every discussion about Nigerian music industry within Nigeria and outside Nigeria refer to it as Afrobeats. And another thing, Afrobeats is already global and a recognized genre in global platforms and Nigeria and Nigerians are the faces of Afrobeat.
    There is no such thing as Ghana music, as a genre. Ghana music industry comprises of music artists who play genres from other countries, from Afrobeat, Highlife, Dancehall, Reggae, to hiphop and others. But keep fooling yourselves and running in circles.

  • @temijohnson5217
    @temijohnson5217 2 роки тому +15

    Please educate yourselves. Many researchers in Africa and Abroad have done studies on the origin of Fela’s music. Its origin has nothing to do with Ghana. His music is a fusion of funk, Jazz, psychedelic soul and Yoruba music. He created his own style of music and he is internationally recognized for it. By the way, Nigerian and Ghanaian style of highlife is different. Also, Fela's Afrobeat is different from Highlife music. Please speak to anyone over the age of 70.
    Most of the Afrobeat today, is mainly Afropop with some mixing in R&B, soul, rap, amapiano and other African music/sounds. Hence, it often varies significantly from the original Afrobeat sound but that is okay as music evolves. I have listened to some artists from Ghana and there is a lot of potential. They need to create their own twist to Afrobeat or other genres, that way when people hear it they will know that it is unique to Ghana. Just like reggaeton is inspired by Bob Marley’s reggae, Latin music, rap and American hip-hop but is internationally recognized as the music of Spanish-speaking Caribbean countries.
    There is nothing entirely new under the sun. Twisting the facts/history to make yourselves feel better is not the way to excel.

They keep saying fela went to Ghana to learn music he went there to make a tiktok video he didn't steal nothing don't forget he studied music in UK his grandfather was the first recording artist in Nigeria. Ghana should focus on being civilised in order to meet up with the modern day's music. ✌✌

    Nice discussion, for me as a Nigerian, I feel, it's all about fear of pushing what is Ghananian out the more, will it be accepted, will it bring back gains interms of finance, Otherwise, the high life is truly d Ghananian sound. I disagree that kelvinboy down flat sound Nigerian, listen to the song well, it has the high life beats and sound all over. Azonto came, Ghananian dropped it. Aside that, I feel, the musicians too should check d quality of music they are putting out, can it cross border? Shata Wale as big as he is in Ghana, can not pull the kind of crowd fire boy will pull outside the shore of Ghana, the kind of music he does belong to Jamaica hence it cant be term original, no disrespect to him.
    The business aspect of it and the pulling your fellow young artist up as u grow, is another issue of Ghana. All the big stars in Nigeria, have young artist they pulling along.
    Anyways, truly therapy is probably the best produced song of stonebwoy.
    We have a whole lot of young artist in Ghana putting d name out now with quality sound and video. Gykie is our love in Nigeria, for the female. She can do it if she continue in d direction she is going.
    Hmmm, I must confess, musical video is not to standard when it comes to Ghana, the directors just lack few things work on video quality as well.
