basically the father (Mohanlal) is a big don in a big town called Madurai. Vijay' s character, Shakti aka Jilla, is his adopted son who also starts out as a thug and his favorite child. but when the father makes him a cop against his own wishes, the son turns into the good guy and decides to take down his father's gang and all and turn him into a reformed man. That causes a clash between father and son. a predictable story but given a very fresh colorful and fun treatment. never gets dull. amazing chemistry between these two giants!

We watched Pulimurugan for our podcast a while back, and we were planning to record reactions then, but we didn't enjoy the movie. So, when the fight scenes came along, we weren't in any kind of mood to react. It's too bad because the fight scenes themselves were pretty good. We probably should have just watched the scenes people requested and left the rest of the film as a mystery. My bad.
