This has been my emotion comfort album for 9 years. It just feels like a big hug 💛
Listening to this album for nearly 10 yrs now on a regular basis. And never getting fed up with it
Oh to realize the time i used to listen to this in februari when winter was almost at an end back when i was in high school, looking for whatever will happen in the future. Playing in the snow in the park after a typical day of school and not worrying too much about homework. Now 10 years later it feels so nostalgic to think back to that period and how all the people i knew back then are not in my life anymore, wondering where they are now in their lives.
One of the best indie albums of the decade. I never get tired of it.
What a peaceful album. They're painting with their guitars.

Oh boy, this remembers me the summer of 2011 (December in Brazil) where I used to listen this CD all day long.I live in the north coast of the estate of São Paulo, city of São Sebastião :). It makes me come back to that time, where i had just joined the college, and I was super excited about life. I kinda lost that excitement, even though I accomplished a lot since then. This album gives me the good feelings back, in a small proportion, of course. My sincere words, from Brazil :)
I have the same experience but in the opposite emisphere : this music is linked to a specific winter in 2011 in France for me. I havent listened to this album since that era and it brings me back to that time. I had just left my parents' home in Réunion island (indian ocean) to pursue my studies in metropolitain France, 13. 000 kms away. I used to listen to this album every day while walking to the swimming pool under the rain and it almost made the cold weather, the pouring rain, and the homesickness enjoyable. Listening to this music instently reminds me the swimming pool smell and the feeling of the cold raindrops

09 is a whole lifetime ago now. i miss the feeling i had when this album was released. so warm and energetic and ready for it all. fuck man.
A fine band. Every generation of alt listeners has a band like Real Estate. Starting with Big Star, The Shoes, Early REM, then the 80's were packed with them (The Church and The Chills just to name a couple). Very pleasant and very derivative.

Has one of the few bands I can say I have listened to since their debut, the evolution of Real Estate's sound and maturity through each successive release is something of interest to me as I am sure it is to you fellow fans. From their self-titled here, Days, and Atlas, you can see their influences and ideas here slowly developing into their sound. From songs about pools, summers, friends, and Budweiser/Sprite, to then the 'real world', finding love, loss, being lost, and growing as a human on this place called Earth. Pair those lyrics to dreamy atmospheric melodicism with jangly echoed guitar/singing and you got a one way ticket to introspective stoney laid-back bliss. No J is even required.
I confess it has been a while since I listened to this album, Suburban Dogs is truly a stand out-track on this re-listen which was not before. No band for me has perfectly captured the sound of gorgeous yet haunting melancholy quite like Real Estate does. (Would like to see them at a live gig someday. Maybe within 10 years.)
My point though, hearing this album now compared to Days and Atlas one can hear a less mature and cohesive band, still learning and growing but having fun and doing a good job at it. That is what makes the observation of their evolution so profound to me, time passes so quick and we grow up very fast. Life is beautiful everyone, enjoy the never-ending song and apologies for the wall here.

Been listening since I was 19 I’m 26 now I remember long boarding to this building a boat to this and driving across the country to this
Memories growing up going to Jacksonville beach with my parents. Hazy overcast days, long walks back to the campsite, a cooler full of fish. The memory is grainy and distorted, with some of the family members no longer alive but the feelings are all fresh and full of life.
This life is merely one form of existence and you will see your family again at their best.
This is the kinda music that washes over you like a wave of relaxation, removing any stress or worries from your body. I rarely say that music is inspirational or motivating---but this album puts me in a state of blissful confidence. Nothing could go wrong if you're listening to Real Estate.
This album is the meaning to life.
This album was part of the soundtrack to my trips down to Kill Devil Hills, NC around 2010-2013. Nostalgic af!

Listened to this album a lot on mushrooms/acid and also on many hiking and fishing trips. Brings back a lot of good memories every time I put it on.

I just purchased this album on Vinyl for my son's birthday at Barns & Noble along with "I'm In Your Mind Fuzz"
by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. I'm listened to the UA-cam stream tonight, - It's very unique, and Ill need to stream it several times to get a better feel for the sound. B&N are delivering his copies by UPS, (I suppose) since it wasn't is stock locally. Happy Birthday

Happy (very belated) birthday to your son! My ma listened one year and got me two vinyls - Real Estate’s “Days” and Atlas Sound’s “Parallax” back in high school. I will always have them and remember her when I listen to them, even if she doesn’t care for the music entirely!
P.S. “I’m In Your Mind Fuzz” was the first King Gizzard album I ever heard and have since been able to see them live in Asheville, NC. Magical moment! c:

I recently met a girl, we become closer the longer we knew eachother. We fell in love and had the best time ever, she broke up just 2 weeks ago.. We used to listen to this quite alot together so I can't really describe the feelings that come up when I listen to this, but it reminds me of those days..

Black Lake is a great track. I like "Days" better than this album but only because it sounds like more effort went into the production. I think they recorded this album themselves which would explain the lack of quality, but thats not really a bad thing.
