    Even though I used your recipe to make this delicious daikon, and actually impressed many of our Japanese friends, I still come back to watch it every time I want to make it. Just love it. Thank you guys!

    One of my favorite things about Japan is how flavorful all of the vegetables and salads are. Can you please make some more recipes for seasoning and preparing veggies? 🥕🍅🍠

    Love this! Two of the vegetable side dishes I miss from my time in Japan are burdock root, and sweet potato balls rolled in sesame seeds (they were made with the purple potato type). The burdock root was cut in sections and simmered in a broth, I think. If you could come up with recipes for these you'd make me so happy!

    I rescently found your show and I love Japanese food recipes. This is a good one. I've made this before for a Japanese friend and she loved it. She was surprised. I had never tasted it before and the flavors & texture came out perfect. I followed a cook-book recipe.
    Instead of the Tablespoon of uncooked rice I used rice rinsing water to cover and do the first boil for the radish. The recipe said it takes some of the sharpness out of the radish. It was wonderful.

    Even in America, we've heard of cooking Daikon in rice-washing water! I have tried this a few times, it doesn't seem very exciting when you hear about it, but it's really delicious! Also economical and not fattening. I'm going to try to grow these in the Winter, and will need to have more ideas about how to cook them if it works out. I think this is almost "bachelor cooking", this vegetable might be in your refrigerator... like carrots that last a long time, when everything else is spoiled. I often have soup with daikon, carrots and potatoes in it because that's what there IS, it's what my grandparents ate in Eastern Europe, for different reasons.

    TabiEats Thank you so much for making the Furofuki Daikon video! I have a hard time picking one favorite Japanese food, but this is in my top 5 favorites. Some days I think this is my favorite of them all! I just love it. I make it at home, especially in the winter. If I am making rice at the same time, I use the rice rinsing water to cook the daikon. That does the same thing as putting the rice in the water with the daikon. This is such a delicious dish, and it is so good with rice, too! I hope others will try making it. Arigato gozaimasu, Shinichi and Satoshi! :-)

      How long in the pressure cooker?

    • @Sh0pah0lic4Eva
      @Sh0pah0lic4Eva 3 роки тому +2

      @@thedoover6520 7 mins high wait 10-15 mins for natural release pressure then remove. Don't to quick release bc of all the liquid it will come squiirting out. Also if u make extra and soak the daikon radish in the water overnight in the fridge the flavor seeps in more.

    • @thedoover6520
      @thedoover6520 3 роки тому +1

      Thank you and I still have a question. First he cooks it, then cooks it again with water and seasoning. Do you cook twice in the pressure cooker? I'm thinking I could use pressure for the first, then the saute or even slow cook for the second. Thank you. Due to dietary changes and only having an instapot, I need to learn how to do cook different than I have been.

    • @Sh0pah0lic4Eva
      @Sh0pah0lic4Eva 3 роки тому +2

      @@thedoover6520 Actually I was lazy and didn't do it twice since he said the rice purification part doesn't have to be done and I saw a lot of radish related instant pot recipes online that didnt do the 2 step so i did all in one. But if u would like to do 2 step maybe do 4 mins with rice clean out the water and do seasoned water for 3 mins. I'm just not sure if it will get too soft by then since I never tried. Cause 7 mins in pressure cooker already gets the radish pretty soft.
