Happy belated birthday and mother's day Allie, and what an excellent way to celebrate. I love the food tour videos, and this was another fantastic post. Charleston has been on the must travel list since Top Chef season 14. Maybe an Away Together summer weekend travel tour series?
Thanks so much! Love that idea!!!!
A absolute must eat place is” Low Country Fish Camp” the menu and the food is amazing. They give very generous portions and we’ll worth going.
Yea they legit. For sure. 👍🏿 Outside dining is a must there. Lol.
Halls Chophouse and 167 Raw Oyster Bar. Must visits.
Happy bday and a new Mother's Day Allie. My wife and I made our first trip to Charleston back in April but were travelling with our black Lab and so we had to look for patio seating and we found a few really good ones - Poogan's Porch, Chubby Fish and Leon's Oyster Shop. I had heard about most of these on your list, so we need to head back over there sans dog and really enjoy some of these. Thanks
Definite thumbs up for the Gin Joint! What a great place!
Looks like Ruby had a great time!
goat list when including Millers :)
Hey Nik & Allie, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I loved your videos. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make highly engaging shorts for you?
Belated Happy Mother's Day Allie. This is a beautiful place worth visiting. Thank you for sharing your travel and gigs.
Thanks so much!

Also, Clerks is a vibe. Need to try that Vanilla Latte w/ Oatmilk!
My only trip to Charleston so far, me and my wife had the best food while we were there. Halls Chophouse, Lewis BBQ, and Orlando's pizza...soooo good.
My daughter surprised me with a wonderful dinner at Hall’s.
Fort Sumter is a cool place as well as the aquarium
Husk, Fig, Halls Chop House, SNOB, High Cotton, and Poogans Porch for brunch. Tattooed Moose in Mt Pleasant. Live about 2 hours north of Chucktown and come down at least 2 times a month...Stay at Charleston Place. Palmetto Grill in hotel excellent also.
You must put Peninsula Grill on your list. Amazing food and the best Coconut Cake you will ever have. 💕
Thanks for the tip! Can't wait to try it!!!!!
Yes!!! The cake!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Unbelievable great place to visit....we stayed at the Elliott House Inn on Queen Street during Spoleto art week, so affordable, conveniently located and cost effective with a nice outdoor afternoon cool down patio. Husk was right next door and it was fantastic food and unbelievable lunch. Eli's Table was magnificent to the the whole vibe and tastes of the south. No better dinner in Charleston than Hanks Seafood (seriously that amazing). Believe the hype about Poogan's Smokehouse for the most amazing barbecue you will ever experience...cannot wait go back again. BTW - we also did the sunset sail out to Fort Sumter which included a glass of wine and tons of history information (worth the experience as well)
We have gone to every restaurant in Charleston over the past 20 years several times. We found that every restaurant has their "best" offering . So it helps a lot to not only know where to go but to order what that restaurant does REALLY well
What did I miss? Where should we go next time?
@@awaytogether I think you did a great job! We are going soon again and we are going to try some of these newer places you've mentioned here.. Im excited to try them. Some places that I would recommend are under a different criteria from what you stated on this video. For example Anson and Hall's are $$$$ but nonetheless very worth it. The items listed below are staple offerings on their menus that have stood the test of time.
Anson- Whole Crispy Flounder apricot shallot sauce
Hall's Chophouse- Beef (of course) but really ANYTHING! They take good care of you there
Slightly North of Broad- Charcuterie Plate, Gazpacho, Shrimp and Grits
Magnolia- Parmesan Encrusted Flounder or Market Catch, Fried Chicken, Duck Confit Salad
Peninsula Grill- Softshell crab in season
Circa 1886- offers great main dishes like Elk and Fish that were always outstanding (quiet elegant romantic setting)
Cypress had an incredible Crispy Wasabi Tuna that was my favorite but they closed down. Hominy Grill closed as well and they were the GO TO for breakfast so Im ready to check out Millers All Day. In general, we always ask waiters "What do you get the most compliments on year round or seasonally" We always keep in mind whats going to be available or best in its season too. Some waiters are excited about great food as much as we are so we often ask questions about the best things they have had or what people rave about.
We are at Husk
HAVE to hit up Miller's when we eventually make it over to Charleston. Great video!
I’d say that one makes sense for you 🤔
barsa spanish restaurant king st .my favorite
We only had lunch at 82 queen the dinners are so expensive
As a native Charlestonian, very few of these are spots for locals.
Do tell! I consider this more of a first-timer’s guide but would love to know a local’s favorite haunts.
@@awaytogether Not native, but a local for almost a decade now, and I agree. Bitty and Beaus was the only place I have been (but I learned about them as a native Wilmingtonian lol). My go to for all visitors is Hymans. It's not intimate, but the owners are amazing, the food is amazing, and it's not uncommon for the working manager/owner to come out and greet each table personally often.
West of the Ashley ( Please ! )
Is 82 queen that restaurant was great
If you could only book FIG, Husk, Vern or R Kitchen, which one would you do?
For me, FIG.
list starts at 12:10, you are welcome
I'm going to guess that Nick is a Scorpio and Allie is a Leo.
Fun fact: I actually live here I just wanna see what this guy thinks abt it
We are from the LYPULY brand. We have a lot to about high-value products that would be of interest to you? We have sent you an email inviting you to take a look.
bruh didn’t eat at any black or geechie spots smh
Tell me where to go!
@@awaytogether Nigel’s, Rodney Scott’s BBQ, Hannibal’s Kitchen, Ma Gloria’s Trinidad Catering, Gillie’s Seafood, and Mesu for starters. then we got an an annual black food truck festival; next one is April 26-28
@@infam0usP Thanks for sharing! Both Rodney Scott's and Hannibal's Kitchen have been on our list for a while now and we still haven't made it. Thanks for all the suggestions - I will share with my wife so we remember to hit some of these next time!
Live in Charleston some of your places are just pretentious, 82 Queen most excellent she crab soup, Lewis BBQ best in town ,Halls most excellent steak house these are places the locals go
Thanks for the recommendations! Have been to 82 Queen, and maybe we just caught them on an off night, but it was easily one of the worst value for money meals I felt like we’ve ever had in Charleston. Was underwhelmed by our dishes and service. Again, might have been an off night! I assume it deserves another chance. Have always wanted to hit Lewis BBQ and Halls!
Lol the food is mediocre and doubt it’s ranked one of the best places to eat in the states
