D gray man was my first anime. since then i’ve watched countless others from big shonen like DBZ and naruto to 12 episodes. But through the years d gray man has stuck by my side as my favorite and my personality defining. thank you for making this video!
Sailor moon, Naruto, and dragon ball z were mine. That I remember. Toonami added to my first experience. I woke up at 4 am. to watch 2 episodes of Inuyasha, and 1 episode of something that reminded me of power rangers. I can't remember the name, but they did a remake.
Tip to future plots: All those "filler" episodes are actual cannon material that in the editing room did not make it to the manga and were released as light novels. And were reincorporated in the anime. All these are foreshadowing of the position Allen will find himself in and the position he will put his closest ppl through. Those decisions which will move the plot forward through Chara her development, are going to be the core of the story.
One of my favorite arcs I remember Netflix only had up until they all got on the ship to Japan before Allen decided to stay back to save suman so once I finally caught back up to series it had me rehooked
The ark's arc and Alma's are my favourites. I've always loved Kanda and Allen interactions and in the Alma's arc is just the apex (in the anime) Suman's arc is important also becuase is one of the reasons Allen leaves the Order (to avoid more of them) It's so nice to see videos about DGM in the actuallity. I love this manga and I keep reading it even now (buff, a chapter, maybe two, per year... we are masochists)
the suman arc was great but i’d say definitely read the manga, bc there’s so much more that dgm has to offer, it arguably has 4-5 arcs better than this
We're doing this because? Allen's got a specific reason he's doing this and it's that he does everything to make up for bringing back Mana. He lies to himself and bottles up his emotions to force a smile for his friends and this arc shows he's not a powerful hero, he's going to kill himself if he stays on that path. I love Allen as a protagonist.
Kanda was and still is already my favorite since the beginning of the series but when I saw him solo a Noah and absolutely crushed him, my admiration increased 10 fold. To this day, no other exorcist has been able to kill a noah besides Kanda, and this was not when he was at his strongest either. I remember it giving me hope as a viewer because up until that point the noah seemed invincible and they always say they are "immortal" so it always felt that the good guys were fighting a losing battle or things were always in the enemies favor.
Please help... making this story be in the public's radar whether it be fan art product reviews, manga reviews, anime reviews, or pieces like these. It needs to create buzz again. PLEASE.
I also love the anime, top 5 but it really needs another season, im not up to date with the manga but the end of hollow was bit of a cliffhanger for me.
The manga just gives you a fix since it releases randomly a couple times a year, this is one show I feel like I may never see the ending to unfortunately.
Impossible right now, there's not enough content for a new season 😑 If you dont mind a few spoilers, after Hallow the manga continues with the search of Allen by Kanda and right now we're learning about Allen's past (when he met Mana in the circus). Just about an arc and a half. With just 2 chaps/year it'll take a while for a new season. Read the manga, it has more info and chapters than the anime (like the zombie invasion of the Order)
@@Kyurengo Hallow actually butchered major foreshadowings for the next arc, which she specifically told the director not to cut or it would run the flow of the story. Which he went against and she the author herself denounced publicly. There are foreshadowings to the current arc all the way from the beginning. All they had to do was respect the source material but because the Anime industry is being westernized with mainstream consumption the episodes were reduced to 13 and the pacing suffered. The pacing used to be on a weekly basics analyzing views and reviews to pace the story, also giving the mangaka enough time to release new material to continue the animation, as it was done in the 1st anime. Now studios are doing lumps of 13 episodes like the Netflix model.. which hurts the story pacing. There was enough material to make at least 25 episodes. Including new material that Hoshino has that did not make it to the manga issues as it was the case for the old anime. This would have given her enough time to catch up and come up with more material in the mean time. But the director honestly did not respect the series and Hoshino as he should. Cut a lot of vital material rushed it also giving her zero chance to ever catch up to continue it in the 1st place. She got very discouraged and has lost hope of it being animated properly now. I still have hope some one will step up and give Hoshino hope again by respecting her and her work. Hoshino has also said that what we see in the Manga is curated and 15% of the 100% of content she has regarding D.Gray Man. That in order to make it shounen friendly it had to be curated. That it is actually much darker. But for now she is lucky enough to still publish but the magazine is shonnen. So she has to focus the story towards that audience without compromising its core. Given the fact that she has more additional material that has been refined and far more plot relevant than the previous anime, a remake would be in order. I just wonder who would step up to the task. Even if it were chunks of 13 episodes but well done episodes not rushed would be better than nothing.
@@Larindarr I agree with you 100%. Hallow in the anime it's not DGM. All the dark somber feeling the whole serie has dissapears in Hallow. Too much light in their designs, too rushed... But in the manga is one of my favourites arcs. As I've said before, Kanda and Allen dinamics is my drug.
I would rather a full on reboot then a continuation I like the anime but I don't think its presentation is as strong as it could've been I would still like to see the ln content in a reboot tho
I always say to anybody that wants to pick up d gray man you have to be able to get past the first couple of episodes at least to me because the first couple of episodes are good but they are so dark you cant see anything lol but if you can get past them and get to the fun episodes where you meet the order where you start seeing allen go out and recruit krory and the time lady i am hard forgetting the name of it starts becoming so addicting to watch and the suman arc starts making the anime feel fleshed out where you start seeing the risks and stuff like that people take to help there loved ones and allens whole rebirth in a way its to good and i cant say enough to those that read this just go watch you nerds give it a bit but its always worth the watch in my eyes
this arc is good, but imo its not even a top 4 dgm arc. Noah's Ark, Artificial Exorcists, and Especially Searching for AW and Saying Farewell to AW are far better in pretty much every way.
I'm sorry, but "rewatch the anime'??? I read the manga and watched the anime. This is an arc that I recommend you read. It shows so much more about the Asian branch.

So funny story, came across this video again and watched it. This still holds up. Shout out to chapter 250!

You're lucky, the last time I read an update in the manga was in 2011.
D.Gray-man is one of my favorites, and this arc really is good.

I agree with every single word, this is why d.gray-man will always be in my top 3 anime since over 10 years now

D gray man is my top 3 favorite shonen and allen is top 2 favorite shonen mc, reading dgm was one of my best decisions.
yeah, d-grayman taught me how amazing anime and manga can be.
EXACLT DGM IS SUCH AN UNDERRATED ANIME THAT NEEDS MORE RECOGNITION!!
Crown clown is my favorite.
I think on Allens delivery of "thank god for that" before realizing suman is gone a lot one of my favorite uses of subtextual irony.
My favourite is, Allen Walker saying "I'll try" to Tim, and his smile when he introduced himself to Suman
the suman arc was great but i’d say definitely read the manga, bc there’s so much more that dgm has to offer, it arguably has 4-5 arcs better than this
I just like how this arc unfolded the story and what grew from this arc for the most part but I can agree with that
Uh oh, now I have to re watch the show for the 3rd time hahah
hmph means it’s time for my 3rd time too

I mean the Suman Dark arc was pretty good and Dark no pun intended and really was build up for the other arcs
Yea this arc was really good also Allen has gray aswell he’s not black and white crown clown is apart of those layers
DGM is goated but you gotta read the manga as the Suman Arc is definitely not the best imo.
Fair, I just love it because it was the precursor to everything else🤷🏽♂️
tbf iITS the best because of how unique it is when you compare it to ALL the other shonens.

Leenalee is the same as Sakura for me. They eventually get really powerful, but the process requires them to be a liability.
