I got fitted at club champion for a full bag. I got irons, a hybrid and a 3 wood. I was ok with the fitting but I always come back with the same conclusion everytime I watch ian do a fitting: no one else does a fitting as expertly as he does. My experience at club champion was nothing like what I witness with ians expertise. Fatigue plays a hugh role. I know my driver is nowhere near optimal like I see with this fitting because by the time we got to the driver we were out of time and energy. I love watching ian. I know my game could be greatly improved were he my fitter. Thank you for the enjoyment of watching. I not only love his expertise , but, more importantly is his kind demeanor
@@krusher74 no, I was talking about Ian's expertise vs most other fitters. There is no comparison. Ian is special in his knowledge and attention to detail. The fitter I had was nice, but nothing like this. He never even addressed my lie angle on the irons. I've watched scores of Ian's videos and no one else is like that
Paige is a delightful person. She seemed so pleased with the results of the fitting. I hope she comes back to the club where I work. I'd love to see her hit that driver.
Great job on the fitting. Paige came in with a really nice driver and set up she was comfortable with and Ian transitioned her to an option that maxed her swing (which is great swing). Enjoyed the conversation regarding driver accuracy in relation to optimal versus functional blend of accuracy/distance. Tweaking spin, dynamic loft, club speed, with shaft and model combination and then doubling her angle of attack from around 2 to 4 was really impressive. Nice job!!
i'm wonderin gif m terribly optimized with my driver or it's just damp cold Irish winter, I swing about 105 and seem to get the ball about 210 total, but the old guys I play with swing about her speed and only get 180/190. Their shots are straight and look a good peak height with some roll out.
@@krusher74 Maybe conditions but a slightly low strike and increase in spin kills distance maybe that’s it? My swing speed on driver is the same as yours yet I’m around 220 yards with my 3i blade. Driver 260-280 yards total. I’ve been a little out to in with path working hard on that and believe I’m zero or a little in to out because I’m about half a club longer now.
Her hotness to skill ratio is unheard of. Paige's knowledge is off the charts but her innocent flirty disposition is dizzying. Hats off to Ian keeping his composure with no deviation from his process. Although he is a bit giddier than usual at times. Great video.
This is really incredible. As someone who has a negative angle of attack (-1 to -2) it's amazing to see a consistent 3 degree difference by optimizing shaft to match delivery. I recently went to get fit for a driver and this sort of an exercise wasn't done. Would love to see more content on the relationship between shaft and AoA, Ian, as I bet a bunch of people out there who are strong iron players struggle to modify their swing to hit up with the driver and need proper fitting to get there.
Watching an Ian fitting session is so awesome. Every number is evaluated and every stone is unturned to get to the final destination..... unlike so many other fitters that just go the route of "here try this" with ZERO game plan or path to be followed.
I think it’s important to mention to people trying auto flex in the bay is that if they are hitting it solid now wait until they learn the timing of the shaft. I bought one and first couple weeks were meh but then I learned that he timing I picked up 30 yards.
I think all of us would be appreciative of a free fitting that dials us into our specs, and certainly the free follow-up tweak after we've had a couple of rounds with it and know it's not quite correct for our needs.
Good club fitting COULD be transformative. When I went for a driver fittings CC I now have a $1200 Ping G410lst with a KBS shaft looking great in my garage. Took it to the course and couldn’t hit it over 30ft in the air. The guy fitting me didn’t explain anything to me and kept trying to get my spin down to around 1700.
it does look like witht he latest software like ian in using that even shitty fitter should just be able to get you to where the computer says yes. And you want to see that screen and that it looks good before you buy the club.
I would like to have had someone that cared half as much as Ian at my club champion driver fitting. Mine seamed a little more rushed and I left with a more flexible shaft that I thought I needed. Played with it twice and switched back to my stiffer shaft now I hit more fairways than my club champion recommended shaft. I did agree with the driver head they suggested.
This is one of the best videos, for me, that I’ve seen. I have a similar problem in hitting it high. My swing speed is also similar so this was a great fitting to watch and see how you addressed those issues. I’ll watch it least one more time and pause on a lot of those stat screens. Is that bar chart a new feature showing optimal and actual? I’ve never seen it before. Are the blue zones based solely on the chosen club or are there other factors behind what it thinks is optimal?
Ian, how did you like fitting with track man? I enjoy seeing the optimal ranges vs shot data but outside of that I prefer the looks of foresight (range wise, your data screen, ui, etc) Love the fiberbuilt grass mat they have at that club champion. Saving everyone’s wrists and elbows!
Never been to a fitting (yet), but I have to believe the communication between the fitter and the golfer is HUGE! Did Paige try the Autoflex shaft with the Darkspeed as a comparison?
This is a legit Female Golfer. Not some of the other UA-camr's who are really Eye Candy but not really legit Golfers. She can't beat Mid Handicap Males playing from the same Tee's. And out drive most of them.
I tried a few autoflex shafts with the lighter weights as suggested by autoflex and tried multiple flex options but it was so inconsistent with my quick tempo.
What flex was used on the BGT shaft? Did you build a pseudo-Autoflex with a senior flex? Just wondering because that’s what my fitter built for me. It checked all the boxes.
Ian is that club head speed x 2.7 nugget only good for driver? It seems like it is based on some quick math, what are the multipliers for other clubs in the bag?
enjoyed both of these with PS. question on the ball speed. while she was making big gains smash didn't improve as much as I might of thought. Would like to have seen where the ball was impacting the face. assume slightly high toe based on the spin numbers. beyond the tee adjustment, did you also consder a slightly longer shaft for both club head speed and maybe a little more centered impact? keep them coing Ian
Did I miss something? He mentioned changing the ball from the TP5 she was hitting to something else, but I never saw what that was or if they even changed the ball. Curious if they did make a ball change, what was it and was it to increase ball speed or change spin, or both?
Was there a reason for abandoning the cobra head for the Callaway? Just curious, as the autoflex is an aftermarket shaft anyway. Just curious or missed the reason for the head switch too.
Why would optimal on the TM Optimizer ever be less than the actual? At 14:36 Paige is 222 optimal carry but carried it 225? 243 optimal total but actual 250. So her strike was better than optimal?
Naively I would have assumed if you get the other measurements correct the ball speed would take care of itself, but it was way down on the optimiser. Why was that? Is it the strike location? plus well done to Paige her swing looked very consistent.
In previous Q&As, Ian has given a rough rule of thumb that generally you can see a significant change in iron performance with new models and technology advancements every 3-5 years. With driver, it's probably closer to 3 years, but the driver improvements are mostly just added forgiveness these days since they've maxed out on how "hot" they can make the faces and distance gains on a well struck drive (based on the limits set by USGA and RA). It also depends on how often you play. If you're hitting a lot of balls practicing and playing a lot of rounds you can definitely wear out your irons much faster and see a decrease in performance, but that would usually be from wearing the face and losing optimal spin.
Good video Ian. But just that set up a lone is over $2500.00 that's a lot of $$ for just a driver fitting/purchase. Then you still have the rest of the bag to go.
No, this is the CC location in New York where they have done multiple fitting videos with Paige, and the US locations use Trackman. Ian has said in Q&As that all the CC locations in Canada still use and will continue to use Foresight launch monitors.
I feel like I’m strong enough and fast enough I should hit it 280 In the air yet I’m hitting 220 and 230 on the fly and my driver and shaft is both good for my swing speed but I just can’t hit it that far. I don’t get it
ua-cam.com/video/TeDaoUEcWFw/v-deo.htmlsi=BSCBmHfJm6oryroG At 1.17 in the above video posted in May 2023 Paige is hitting the same Titleist driver 269 yards so where did the 30+ yards go? Is the face cracked? It was going over ten yards longer than what Ian has fitted Paige with in this video. Somethings off here golfers!
There is no "standard" length for driver. 48 inches is the max but the USGA and RA can limit it to 46 for amateur and pro tournaments. Most stock and custom driver builds are generally between 45-46 so I would assume everything she hit was likely within that range.
In her iron fit video they switched from TP5 to Pro V1x for more spin. These two videos were shot on the same day so pretty safe to assume that she was hitting the Pro V1x for the driver fit.

Yes, that’s what we done. Went from 9° in the Titleist to 7° in the Callaway to account for the additional deflection and benefit from the upward AOA.

With Ian’s rule of 2.7x club head speed. Is this for target Carry or Total distance?

the tsr4 has 2 moveable weights, but I think it's a bit harder to hit than the tsr3.

2.7 yards for every mph... first time I've heard that and now I know I'm at least 20 yards off as well.

its total, because you can't get 270 carry with a 100mph swing unless you play in the Himalayas.
