I just started to buy 24 cans of food a month for an emergency. I got 12 cans of salmon and 12 cans of pineapples in nature juice. Friends keep saying they are worried anything could happen and best to have a few months of food at least. I know the Amish and/or Mennonite keep a year of everything for any type of emergency. Pragmatic. Great video.
I like that the meals are quick to make.
Thank You for this. People think we are crazy for doing emergency food storage. I got hurt at work 10/16/2022. I'm still off work. Yes, I get work persons comp, but that doesn't even cover the basic bills. If I did not have emergency food storage I would have been s.o.o.l.
Excitedly waiting for an update 😊
The peace of mind I get from having a prepper pantry is unbelievable. To me it’s food insurance. The world doesn’t have to end for us to use it. It could be a job loss, trying to meet a financial goal, or just having what you need when you need it. I missed your pepper video but I’m going back and binging your videos right now so I’ll see you soon
It’s a good dream! I tricked out my Astro van complete with solar panels and traveled out west just me and my dog. It was an amazing experience. The hiking!!! I didn’t sell my little 500 sq foot house and plan to keep traveling part time until I’m of retirement age. The great thing for you is you are already a YT influencer so going on the road you can vlog it and you already have done the work for subscribers. 😀
Also I forgot to add I’ve added the chick pea meat balls to my regular rotation. Thank you so much for the recipe!
I don’t know that I’ll still be doing UA-cam when I retire!🤣🥰 but who knows! The hiking out west, especially utah is the most beautiful thing!!! Hopefully you made it to all the hits of utah! Brice, Zion and the little bumps along the way!!
We hike and travel a bit now, but I never Vlog it because I love soaking it in and enjoying it! When I Vlog of have the camera I feel like I miss a lot! But if we had an rv now it could be fun to share meals while traveling!
I'm going camping next week so some of the meals would be great.
When I think emergency food pantry, I think less national emergency, no power, etc. and more "I'm sick and can't get to the store" or "There's a storm and I'm going to stay home."
Everyone’s different! For me my emergency is for no power etc not if I’m sick but because I know my personal lifestyle ❤️ but remember everyone does what best works for them and no two people are alike!
HELLO MIRANDA, I WATCHED YOUR 1 DOLLAR A DAY VIDEO AND WAS BLOWN AWAY! SO I SUBSCRIBED. YOU HAVE AN AMAZING SMART MIND AND I LIKE YOUR MENU'S. THANK YOU FOR SHARING AND CARING ENOUGH TO BE SUCH A BLESSING TO US.
I have a very similar retirement dream! I'm a minimalist at heart
Being vegan there's so so so many pantry recipes. We keep about a year of food on hand and it has helped us so much through job loss, helping others and inflation
Just stopped by to say that your excitement about trying out this new pantry-stable way of cooking is INFECTIOUS! I’m so ready to get some of these staples and try out some of these meals!
My personal prep style is to assume I’ll be able to boil water, so I don’t have a lot of no-cook meals, but pasta puttanesca is one of my favorite pantry staple meals AND it’s great for long term storage. Another one I like is sloppy joe lentils. A vegetable noodle soup is as easy as a package of small shape pasta, a can of mixed veg, a can of tomatoes, and some broth base with water.
I also like to buy muffin and brownie mixes and canned pumpkin. You can just mix one box with one can and bake. A treat during an emergency/low income season is so comforting!
You’re doing great! Can’t wait to see what else you come up with. :)
Yay Team quick cooking oats. I simply like the texture better. I bought rolled oats by mistake, so I just made my own quick oats by blitzing them a little. This is a great idea video! My emergency food would be all no cook, no water. That’s what seems the best option for living in hurricane country. I could have minor loses or major. So I think to the major to be prepared. Love hearing your ideas and reading everyone else’s in the comments.
This was a great video. Sorry I missed it the first time around.
Great video, I love instant potatoes use them with mashed cauliflower so delicious
I love that soup mix. We add a can of fire roasted tomato, corn and died potatoes. Just to make it more feeling.
What a fantastic video. I’m so excited to see more of the journey of pantry meals. I love cooking, but sometimes I just want fast and easy. Oh, I just ordered the soap sheets, I’m so excited to get them. Thank you for telling everyone about them 😊
I love Earth Breeze.
I’ve not watched your UA-cam channel in awhile. Good to see you. Congratulations on your sponsorship!
I’m glad you use Earth Breeze! We love it for their laundry product and also we have been using the dishwasher product for about a month and love it as well!
Good afternoon Flourishing Miranda. What a haul. I do believe my favorite items are that stone ground mustard, the brown rice cake thins and my that dill relish. 😊😊
You've come a long way! Loving these ideas! Thanks so much!
Miranda!!! I love this soooo much! I have made your shepherds pie before and it’s good. But I really love the instant mashed potatoes idea. I never even thought of keeping those in my pantry. I am in a huge amount of debt and I’m slowly clawing my way out of it, so therefore, I am obsessed with saving money. I’m saving up since January for this coming winter to do a Costco haul, so I don’t have to go to the grocery store all winter. Now I can refer back to these videos and plan what exactly I need to buy, instead of just getting a bunch of random stuff, then scratching my head and wondering what to make. 😂 I think just for fun I will plan what I need for each week for the entire winter. Thanks so much ❤ You’re a rockstar.
Is the hiking packs freeze dried or dehydrated? I want to dehydrate my own. I don’t and probably never will own a freeze dryer. 🙂
Thanks so much for the Earth Breeze info! Just ordered to give them a try and what a great price at 40% off! :)
Please be careful with the soup mix if you are gluten free. Most mixes have wheat or maltodextrin in the ingredients. In the US, maltodextrin is usually made from wheat and has caused me problems before. I also make sure to buy gluten-free oats and Argo or other gluten-free corn starch.
Oh I would have liked to see you dissolve soap sheets in a bowl and throw it in laundry 😊
Unfortunately I can’t do that I have a auto sensing washer and it is HIGHLY recommended once you had it set to washer tabs or washer sheets to not add any water.
I think I'll pass on the carbonzo dill pickle mustard lunch recipe
It seems we would be wise to see how people did things without electricity. They cooked with fire, be it wood or coal. I am old enough to remember my grandma cooking on a coal stove.
Pioneers had very interesting meals. That would be a helpful check in their foods.
I live in the desert and wouldn’t want to cook outdoors with a fire. It would be very dangerous 80% of the year (which is why I looked into the soak method)
My mom used Earth Breeze but they are too expensive for me.
Everyone has their budget! ❤️ at 50c per load it’s it’s actually cheaper than the laundry packs I was using prior to earth breeze! I buy allergy friendly detergent
Stay away from Shore Lunch. You are only getting 1040 calories per bag at 7.00 plus per bag. So, 3120 per 3 bags. So, 21.00 plus dollars a day if you are inactive.
I got them for $1.99 and I think they’re great! So I’ll continue to buy them (they’re just veggies so yeah veggies don’t have a lot of calories)
Remember it’s OK to have variety and everyone likes something different!
@@flourishingmiranda OMG! Where? Amazon is charging over 21.00 for three bgs.
Smiths our local store has them on sale at least once a month! I’ve never bought them until recently but I feel like for that price for a veggie it’s a great thing to keep on hand! Different than a can veggie!
@@flourishingmiranda Those are great prices. I wish I could get them that cheap.
They also sell them at Menard's. Right now, they are 3.99 a bag, but they are usually on sale!
