    This is Tae Do they do not use hands in the original it is hand and foot unfortunately this is not represented.For those who are tradional Taekwon-do , there are a lot of punches sweeps and self defence. The sport has 4 components -Sparring Patterns or Tuls Power test and special Techniques.

    Thank you for the video.
    The positive is that the human errors have been reduced.
    But there are still some controversies to the scoring procedures including the wireless system.
    And the points awarding rules have been changed since this video has been made.

    I am okay with the technology, but how do the sensors determine a point? Is it determined from the initial test kicks before the match officially starts? I ask because some competitors barely tap the chest guard on the test kick, and seem to score more questionable kicks that barely tap or just glance off.

    • @berezza
      @berezza 5 років тому +1

      The taps before the match test if the sensors are on/working. After that, the sensors give out points if the hit is hard enough.

    They need to adopt this method in race walking. Preassure sensors under each foot could detect if the preasure is lost and the athlete is actually cheating.

    • @finneurovision5775
      @finneurovision5775 7 років тому +2

      Peter Liljebladh Very nice idea! I think everyone is cheating a little bit so it would change things in Walking. I'm interested in what the athletes are saying about this

    • @peterliljebladh
      @peterliljebladh 7 років тому

      Cheyenne EVERYONE IS CHEATING!
      Since the olympic audience demands pictures with good quality, slow motion and endless replays instead of stoneage mentality it's painfully obvious that both the athletes and the judges are trying to cross the english channel while being chained to several tons of cast iron and pass it off as syncronised swimming.

    Fencing Taekwondo is not Taekwondo
    These electric devices made more problem with scoring, that's why each coach has a card to protest when points are not rewards by electric scoring.

    I have always wanted to know why are there so few punches relative to the amount of kicks in Taeknowndo? Are You allowed to punch in sport TKD?

    • @noellundstrom7447
      @noellundstrom7447 7 років тому +12

      Yes you are, but the reason why there are so few punches is that they have to be very powerful to score.

    • @kensei9425
      @kensei9425 7 років тому +2

      Francois Alwyn Venter the only punch you are allowed to throw is a back punch to the body which is awarded 1 point but a lot of the time athletes throw the punch to try to hurt the other athlete

    • @matheusramos4857
      @matheusramos4857 7 років тому +1

      Francois Alwyn Venter yea, you can punch in TKD but I mean kicks are obviously much easier to score for they award more points and punches are mostly used to push the opponent back, or obviously score

    • @karim9733
      @karim9733 7 років тому +1

      Francois Alwyn Venter punches on chest yes .....head not allowed ....and the punch is only 1 point ... and it should be powerful and straight to get the point so kicks are better :)

    • @finneurovision5775
      @finneurovision5775 7 років тому +2

      Yes. Taekwond means the way of the hand and the foot. On this high level like at the Olympics it is not sinceful to punch. The danger to let the other one win points is too high and the chance of getting a point is very low, also it is only one point.
      You see punches in lower level fights but in the Olympics they are very rare

  • @diosdadoapias
    @diosdadoapias 6 років тому +1

    Why don't they just score by visual . remove those protective gears and let the players hit each other. surely a good referee could see a hit(an effective) with an impact from a mere touch. It works in other Karate kumite where players have no protective gears.

  • @diosdadoapias
    @diosdadoapias 6 років тому

    all martial arts are great. but maybe there are some which evolved more as sports martial arts. BTW, the scoring devices will do because their are the head gear and body armour. where those scoring devices could be stored. In other martial arts which do not use protective gears those devices can not be use.

    put protective gears on Karate like head gears, body armour. leg protectors to put those scoring devises without those how could you install scoring devices. Put them in the breast of kyukushin fighter so it may score how many punches delivered on the body, put them on the face so Shotokan karate fighter can register score on punch delivered on the face; put them on the legs to determine if a low round kick hit the legs.

    I can't believe you clowns show your faces in this video. You have turned TKD into an embarrassing point manipulation contest, completely removed from any similarity to combat. 2 times state champion, 2x Governors cup, Jr Olympic competitor.

    • @jhanroxas2887
      @jhanroxas2887 4 роки тому +1

      It aint embarrassing. Wdym also removed similarity to combat? Nothing changed tbh. We still have turning kicks and other powerful kicks taught to us.People just tend to use the more effective way to win without wasting too much energy for other rounds. Also funny that u call them clowns for showing themselves in this video when ur here hating a video all about the electronic system and how it can help score the kicks that are too fast for the eyes to see.

    How does the Taekwondo Wireless Scoring System Work? I can tell you. It doesn't!

    • @kensei9425
      @kensei9425 7 років тому

      Jobst Stormrider depending on what scoring system you use I am used to kpp scoring so there are sensors on the chest protector and then there are sensors on the instep of the foot gear when the instep of the foot hit with a proper powerful kick it well score

    • @toplobster740
      @toplobster740 7 років тому +3

      The problem is that when all you have to do is activate the sensor on the instep and the chest protector or helmet strange non kicks begin to appear. Before the electronic scoring system the was no scorpion kick or just tapping with the foot because for the judges to see it and score it as a point it had to be a real powerful kick!

    • @karim9733
      @karim9733 7 років тому +1

      Jobst Stormrider any hit signals so the judge can tell it's a point ....sensors

    • @jhanroxas2887
      @jhanroxas2887 4 роки тому

      @@toplobster740 judges cant see those kicks wdym? And u dont just tap the sensors,u need to also kick hard for the sensors to activate. Just because it doesnt look strong doesnt mean its weak. The judges score points,either they saw it clearly or they heard the sound the armor makes and sometimes that sound can be produced by the arm guard. That was before electronics were introduced and some of the old style players were also complaining bout the referees not scoring the points they should have. Electronics has pros and cons. The prons as the video shows it helps judge if it actually hit the armor and other referee decision stuff and cons is they changed fighting styles due to this rule. Scorpion kick isnt even used in competitions.
