The frame rate of Miles is choppy at first because he’s new to this. Later on, his frame rate is much smoother as he becomes more confident. The other characters have a smooth frame rate throughout. So they actually used the frame rate to show character progression.
One thing I noticed after like my 8th or 9th rewatch is that the smooth frame rate seemingly happens most often during the scenes where the spider people do stuff like jumping off roofs and swinging around. And if they aren’t doing that, they go back to the halved frame rate that miles has for the more grounded conversations. I think that’s a nice detail and ensures that the audience doesn’t get too distracted by this notion during the emotional moments.

This film was a blast to watch. What really makes it work is that the give a good introduction to Miles’s character, which grounds the film because you latch onto Miles, and that combined with the vibrant and energetic art style and animation sells the movie. The animation perfectly captures the movement of the Spiders’, with some of the poses and moves feeling like it came straight from the comics. It was a brilliant choice. I even thought their take on adult Peter was a fresh way of showing an adult Peter since Marvel refuses to have the character age past a certain point. We see a Peter at a point in his life where he’s afraid to take the next step and has become a little jaded and set in his ways. Making it so that both Miles and Peter can learn from the other is a great way of setting up the arcs of both characters. However, while there was a lot to enjoyed in the movie, I did have problems. It gets to a point where I thought the Spider-Verse wasn’t anything more than a gimmick. I didn’t feel like it added anything to the piece more than what a “Spider-Men” movie could have added. Personally, I would have kept the focus on Miles and Peter, with Gwen Stacy Spider-Woman thrown in because her dynamic with Miles is good. While I liked Miles’s development, and by extension Peter’s, I do think that Miles’s story gets a little lost in the shuffle as it goes on where it feels like he’s just there involved in the spider stuff with the occasional focus on him. Overall, this film was a thoroughly entertaining watch, and I would recommend anyone go see it. The villain is extremely weak and there were some narrative problems for me, but the strengths more than outweigh the weaknesses. Also Chris Pine was great as Spider-Man. He has a really good voice for the character. And Jake Johnson grew on me as the Spider-Man whose reached a rut in his life.

I had such a blast and can't give this movie enough praise. Probably will go see it again very soon.
I loved it. Though, because of the "choppy" animation, it's definitely not a movie you want to sit up close for. I had to at first as there are only a couple of spaces for wheelchairs. The animation, colors and quick movements and edits were overwhelming when I was so close to the screen. Too much sensory overload. I wound up moving all the way to the back near the door and was just fine. So, I would recommend anyone planning on seeing this, to sit towards the back. It will make it more enjoyable.
True, This movie was amazing😆 but those first 30 seconds of the movie “with logos” had my eyes going wild, I thought that someone was going to have a seizure right in the film room😱
I've been lurking since the spill days for reference. Of all your ads, the audible ad and comments about MIA Martin made me smile for some reason. The two of you have ALWAYS been reliable source whenever I need to laugh or smile and I genuinely thank you for that. You guys have carried me through some dark times and I thank you for it from the bottom of my heart.
Double Toasted: Into The Toasty-Verse. Edit: WOW!!! I didn't expect to have this many likes. Thank you all, I appreciate it. I guess I should comment more. I loved the movie by the way.
The look of Kingpin is an Easter Egg. He looks like as he appeared in the comic "Daredevil: Love and War" which was illustrated by Bill Sienkewicz. I loved that comic and that story. I respect your point of view, but I disagree.
I just came back from seeing it with my nephew and it was great. I know nothing about Miles Morales and it perfectly gave the back story of his origin. Probably the best animated movie about Spiderman and it covered the history perfectly.
When did I say that I was judging the film based on who I saw it with? Kids and especially babies oftentimes ruin the movie theater experience because of excessive talking/crying. Now, I understand a lot of kids will see this, hence why I'm trying to avoid them as much as possible Opening Weekend.
This is my favorite Spider-Man movie. I give this movie Better Than Better Than Sex. There was only one scene I was not a fan of. It was still a good scene. Loved it so much. Seeing it again today.
I'm a little late but it's funny that my guy in the suit said that it reminds him of the Lego movie because both are made by the same writers. And for those who remember, these are the same writers who made Clone High.
My favorite film of the year. As a Spidey fan this is everything I was hoping for and more. The animation, the characters, the heart of it all. This movie gave me a sense of hope and reminded me why I fell in love with this character and his counterparts to begin with. I’m seeing it 2 more times this weekend. BETTER THAN SEX!!!
I fucking loved this movie. It has to be the greatest animated movies ever made, and is definitely in my top 5 favourite movies. I was memorised on multiple instances on the quality of the animation and art design. The story and humour was also impeccable. I am just extremely disappointed I missed this one in cinemas. Hopefully I get dragged into a spideverse so I can.
Morlun would make a really terrifyingly high stakes villain for the main sequel. I would also like to see these animators do Venom and Carnage, or Kraven...even just Shocker or Vulture could be super cool visuals in this animation style
This was a great movie! The animation was amazing! And had a great story! I really appreciated that this wasnt a kiddy Disney movie, and appreciated the fact that the movie got dark at some points! Solid film
Umm..This movie was great but the fact that you dished out money for those so called kiddy movies must mean you like them. A true hater would see one. Winter Soldier was no kiddy movie hell Inifinty Wars was no kiddy movie. This movie did not have ANY curse words. Funny how you say it was adult. DC better watch out their anime held a crown on animated movies Sony if they continue this could take it.
@@hamhockbeans I didn't mean marvel movies, I love those! 😂 I meant that I'm glad it wasnt like a Disney cartoon movie where they wouldnt really take it seriously and that I would be mainly for little kids
So there's a bit here where they defend the animation. Let me just say that even though I actually do love the stylistic choice, the animation can get be off putting at moments. There are moments where it does look choppy and worse then that there seem to be a lot of motion blur going on, especially in the beginning. One big thing to note, just because something is intentional doesn’t automatically means it's good. I hate it when people use that excuse.
TamaskanLEM Well, ok...I don’t think one could hate it when they use that excuse. There are small problems with it when they do use that excuse, but it’s really the smallest and only problem, is that there is a problem with the choice. As much as I do understand people have a problem with choppy animation, I have a problem specifically with people having a problem with it here, and this is having not really seen the movie. Not only is it intentional, but it’s also something that would barely bother anyone unless you were really that sensitive. It’s like being hard on what is essentially a stop motion picture, and I had the exact same problem with people saying it as a legitimate complaint for The Lego Movie’s (and the spinoffs) animation.
Martin must be really fun at grandparents funerals. Everybody is crying and Martin just like ''What are you all sad about? They were old, what did you expect?''
5 years old!!! SONY has succeeded yet again! this is another one of my favorite Spider-Man movies the movie has a lot of charm to it by making so many callbacks to previous media forms of Spider-Man from his comic debut in 1962 to a Christmas album to the Sam Raimi movies to his Aunt May to Mary Jane Watson to Donald Glover to a Spider-lair full of vehicles and various suits but also making a few new changes like a female version of Dock Ock fantastic voice acting from Hailee Steinfeld to Liev Schrieber to Nicholas Cage, stunning animation making the whole thing feel like an actual comic book moving from page-to-page, a sufficient amount of heart, exciting action, one hell of a twist in the middle, and a ton of humor it's also got a killer soundtrack MIles still has a lot of learn in order to be his best version of himself not copy others, his family doesn't run away from things, the hardest part of the job is knowing you can't save everyone, and figuring out who he wants to be may just be the key to rising to the occasion it's also kinda nice to see Stan Lee in one of his last cameos the movie has some great messages for everyone not just Spider-Man/comic fans to pick up on; each of us in a way has a power of our own to help the world, anyone can be a superhero in their own way, all it takes is a leap of faith to succeed as well a few side villains could have been cut and it was disappointing most of the footage from the trailers didnt make the final cut still, SONY and Marvel seem to be on a the right track and I'm very happy they're still moving forward making more side stories and spinoffs :)
"There's plenty of reports that say people are crying in this movie" yes and I was one of them. I don't say this lightly but this may be my new favorite movie.
just seen it yesterday... if it isn't for INFINITY WAR, THIS would've been, WITHOUT A DOUBT, my most fave..BEST movie of 2018. the FRESHEST animated take on the (comic book) super hero genre flick since The incredibles (the first one). my eyes were spoiled, my jaw dropped, if not smiling from ear to ear....TOP NOTCHED all around. not perfect...but damn NEAR it.
"I don't like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!" LOL! That's messed up, man! Makes me wonder what Korey's favorite candy is then. I know I'm crazy for peanut butter and chocolate so Reese's is definitely one of my favorite candies ever right along with Starburst, Skittles, Peanut Butter M&M's, and cream filled See's chocolates. I definitely have a sweet tooth for anything chocolaty, fruity, or creamy! =)
Saw the movie today with my sister and her bf It’s one of my fav Spider-Man movies! Pissed they cut so many scenes from those trailers That twist was actually really good Stellar animation, funny lines, big amount of heart I like the dedication they made to Stan Lee too Great callbacks to previous media versions of Spider-Man as well
A guy from 2022 here. A great superhero movie is one that does so much without it feeling like a mess. I like that this and No Way Home were able to do what they did while having it be one focused story that feels like a MOVIE rather than a pilot for ten different Disney plus shows.

True, This movie was amazing😆 but those first 30 seconds of the movie “with logos” had my eyes going wild, I thought that someone was going to have a seizure right in the film room😱
Completely agree I was sat in recliner seats at the front and I was too close, real comfy though.
Miles Morales could use some toasty goodness, as well as something DTMerch.com
Feel that *TOASTY* GOODNESS all over your body as you enter into the spider verse!!!
It did Spidey justice! I loved it! 👏😊🕷
Stan Lee would be proud! 👓
Uh oh. Sony has something successful in their hands. Get ready for them to oversaturate it and mess it up with greed and illogic... smh.
replace Sony for Disney and their live action remakes
As a white guy im so excited about miles take on Spider-Man. I relate a lot with miles morales
Seeing the sequel gives that bagel so much more significance
Double Toasted: Into The Toasty-Verse.
Edit: WOW!!! I didn't expect to have this many likes. Thank you all, I appreciate it. I guess I should comment more. I loved the movie by the way.
Everytime I watch their TV reviews, with their bizarro White counterparts.
It’s just a comment bro lol you’re not being handed a Oscar now
This is probably my very favorite Spider-man film so far live action or otherwise, I can’t wait for the next 2 sequels.
Finally ;) excited to see what you guys think. Big fan. Keep reviewing plz!!
The look of Kingpin is an Easter Egg. He looks like as he appeared in the comic "Daredevil: Love and War" which was illustrated by Bill Sienkewicz. I loved that comic and that story. I respect your point of view, but I disagree.
...great catch. You're absolutely right. I wasn't bothered by it because the design was familiar.
One can only hope Sony Pictures Animation can keep up this level of quality going forward
They should, and they most certainly will, looking at the Oscar it got, it will tell them to make better quality animated films
The hype is real and 💯% deserved. This and Black Panther best movie Oscar nom! Marvel is on their $#!+‼️‼️‼️
I was literally looking up the origin of miles Morales and then this notification came through you guys rock
I just came back from seeing it with my nephew and it was great. I know nothing about Miles Morales and it perfectly gave the back story of his origin. Probably the best animated movie about Spiderman and it covered the history perfectly.
Trying to see this at an early matinee. Not trying to watch a movie surrounded by Bebe's Kids, real talk.
Tone Riggz ok but the film itself as a film shouldn’t be judged based on who you watch it with.
Yo I remember bebe’s kids! That movie was crazy as hell.
early matinee is when you run into families
luckily i caught the 5 pm showing yesterday
When did I say that I was judging the film based on who I saw it with? Kids and especially babies oftentimes ruin the movie theater experience because of excessive talking/crying. Now, I understand a lot of kids will see this, hence why I'm trying to avoid them as much as possible Opening Weekend.
This is my favorite Spider-Man movie. I give this movie Better Than Better Than Sex. There was only one scene I was not a fan of. It was still a good scene. Loved it so much. Seeing it again today.
What's up, danger? 😎
Wow, Martin gave a high review, this must be good....lol
He gave a high review for Nocturnal Animals.....but Spider-Verse is fucking great
That animated Stan Lee had me in tears!
Do the Watership Down remake review
I have been watching the DT team for years. This is a great review for a GREAT MASTERPIECE of a film!
Always funny ! Go DT
Korey calling out that bagel joke hits different after the sequel 😂
"You can waterboard my ass with Spider-man. Bend me over, fuck me, as long as you got a Spider-man mask on"
*-Korey Coleman*
INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE 2: NOW WITH VENOM!!!
Hopefully I get dragged into a spideverse so I can.
and idc what anyone says, Peter Parker is Sam Rami's Spiderman!!
Stan Lee creation dude.
l0zerzer0 from the beginning I thought that too
It's the closest we're gonna get but homie doesn't have organic webbing so it's a nah
@@shadowprince101 lemme dream dammit!! 😂😂😂.
Uncle Aaron Looks Like Legendary Hip-Hop Artist Rakim.
third eye order wow he looks just like him
Really, I thought he looked more like Common
Jada Hayden yeah common too
Morlun would make a really terrifyingly high stakes villain for the main sequel. I would also like to see these animators do Venom and Carnage, or Kraven...even just Shocker or Vulture could be super cool visuals in this animation style
I hope they do a spoiler review for this cause I was surprised they didn't talk about Doc Ock at all
*no spoilers* That thing about Doc Ock blew my damn mind! I hope they do the spoiler review.
The way they slowly led into that reveal was both great & creepy at the same time. I loved it.
She was a beast
Uncle Phil lives
God damn 😂
Ghostbusters 2 reference. I hate jello. There's always room for jello.
The intro of this video is dripping with foreshadowing
Papi, Puerto Ricans are black. Forget what the demographics say, we are all mostly black down in PR.
Some Puerto Ricans look black, but they are a mix of the the Tíano people and Spaniards.
Martin must be really fun at grandparents funerals. Everybody is crying and Martin just like ''What are you all sad about? They were old, what did you expect?''
Been waiting for this review all week long!
Korey looks like a grown up Miles Morales.
He would need a bigger nose.
Nicolas Cage is the only man to play Spiderman, Superman, Discount Batman (Big Daddy) and Ghostrider. Give this man another Oscar.
FINALLY an actual ANIMATED FILM that is not Pixar 3D... and it has Spider-Man....LOTS of Spider-Men...and Spider-Women... and Spider-Pigs.
“We were friends ya know”
Broke me so emotionally
This is the best non-spoiler review of this movie I've seen. Great job.
The end credits scene had me laughing my ass off not to mention that Spider-Man 3 scene
5 years old!!!
SONY has succeeded yet again!
this is another one of my favorite Spider-Man movies
the movie has a lot of charm to it by making so many callbacks to previous media forms of Spider-Man from his comic debut in 1962 to a Christmas album to the Sam Raimi movies to his Aunt May to Mary Jane Watson to Donald Glover to a Spider-lair full of vehicles and various suits but also making a few new changes like a female version of Dock Ock
fantastic voice acting from Hailee Steinfeld to Liev Schrieber to Nicholas Cage, stunning animation making the whole thing feel like an actual comic book moving from page-to-page, a sufficient amount of heart, exciting action, one hell of a twist in the middle, and a ton of humor
it's also got a killer soundtrack
MIles still has a lot of learn in order to be his best version of himself not copy others, his family doesn't run away from things, the hardest part of the job is knowing you can't save everyone, and figuring out who he wants to be may just be the key to rising to the occasion
it's also kinda nice to see Stan Lee in one of his last cameos
the movie has some great messages for everyone not just Spider-Man/comic fans to pick up on; each of us in a way has a power of our own to help the world, anyone can be a superhero in their own way, all it takes is a leap of faith to succeed as well
a few side villains could have been cut and it was disappointing most of the footage from the trailers didnt make the final cut
still, SONY and Marvel seem to be on a the right track and I'm very happy they're still moving forward making more side stories and spinoffs :)
"There's plenty of reports that say people are crying in this movie" yes and I was one of them.
I don't say this lightly but this may be my new favorite movie.
"You're the best of all of us."
"It always fits, eventually..."
Saw it last night- hands-down one of the best movies this year, I was so happy they stuck close to Miles’ origin story from the Ultimate comics!
i must be getting old 'cause i got misty throughout several different moments in the movie
This movie is better than sex.
oh shit
just seen it yesterday... if it isn't for INFINITY WAR, THIS would've been, WITHOUT A DOUBT, my most fave..BEST movie of 2018.
the FRESHEST animated take on the (comic book) super hero genre flick since The incredibles (the first one).
my eyes were spoiled, my jaw dropped, if not smiling from ear to ear....TOP NOTCHED all around.
not perfect...but damn NEAR it.
Saw the movie today with my sister and her bf
It’s one of my fav Spider-Man movies!
Pissed they cut so many scenes from those trailers
That twist was actually really good
Stellar animation, funny lines, big amount of heart
I like the dedication they made to Stan Lee too
Great callbacks to previous media versions of Spider-Man as well
I need that Bumblebee Camrip
Spiderman PS4 is an amazing game with incredible story. I never thought any movie can top that. Then they release Spiderverse! Its a brilliant film.
Did not know audible does comics. I am sold. Usually these commercial annoy me but this one was spot on.
A guy from 2022 here.
A great superhero movie is one that does so much without it feeling like a mess.
I like that this and No Way Home were able to do what they did while having it be one focused story that feels like a MOVIE rather than a pilot for ten different Disney plus shows.
Been toasted since yesterday waiting on this
Great review guys this was probably my favorite Spider-Man movie.
