Hi Julian, A great selection of books and as you said invaluable if you are planning a trip there. I can't imagine the length of time it took to put these together with the amount of information and images that they have. All the best mate.
Thanks so much for the review Julian. It sounds cliché but it really does make all the hard work worthwhile when people appreciate your books. Do let me know if you find yourself out there again or in the Lakes, it would be great to meet up. All the best and thanks again!
No worries James. While not as much work as writing a book, these videos do take a while to produce, edit and publish, so when people appreciate them it makes all the hard work worthwhile! :-) And yes, it would be great to meet up one day soon. 👍 (More likely to be the Lakes at present....still paying for that last trip to Iceland! lol)
Really interesting post. I've been fortunate to have visited Iceland 11 times over the past 20 years and the place still keeps pulling me back for more!! Hoping to visit in February if covid plays ball?
Hi Julian. Belated new year greetings to you and your family. I really enjoy your bookshelf series - always interesting to see what other photographers are reading. I've no plans to go to Iceland in the foreseeable (unfortunately) but I may still buy the guidebooks after watching your review ! The quality of fotoVUE's guidebooks is outstanding, so you always know your money's well spent and I've just picked up the second edition of Stuart Holmes' "Photographing the Lake District." The Iceland guidebooks look fantastic and I like the addition of the map - nice touch ! Many thanks for sharing this review and thanks also for the discount code.
Thanks Tim and a very happy new year to you and your tribe as well! Glad you enjoy the series and that my video has sparked your interest in this title. I've also got the 2nd edition of the Lakes book....well, its in the post anyway! They are great books...many of them I just bought to look through....I need to visit some of these places! lol Hope you can put the discount code to good use. :-)
Hi Julian: Your timing of this video is perfect. We have been to Iceland before but we are booked on a cruise from Southampton to Iceland via Scotland and Norway, in the spring. While in England, we will be in the Lake District (with Chris Sale). Once we depart in Iceland we will be staying for an additional 4 days touring the south coast. This material looks perfect for our needs. Too bad they don't also offer an e-Book version when you buy the hard-copies. Great details in your video. Cheers, Keith (Canada)
Excellent timing indeed! Yes, they aren't small, but they will be perfect for your trip. What a book to read on your cruise to Iceland! I've spoken to other publishers about eBooks. Problem is if you have a PDF you have no control over it (anyone can send it to anyone), and doing a dedicated app reader is expensive to build and maintain. Besides, you can't beat reading a real book. :-)
@@jbairdexp Very good point. Maybe a solution would be to offer the e-Book version via a controlled access to a web-site. As you can appreciate, carrying extra weight can be expensive. Oh well....first world problems! Cheers, Keith
Thanks Paul. I've spoken to other publishers and the problem with digital access platforms is that they require development and maintenance....costs would then have to be built into the purchase cost. And then, how long do you keep that going for? These things are lot more tricky for smaller publishing houses. :-)
*** Use the discount code JULIAN to get 20% off all books at fotovue.com ***
It says voucher expired..
@@vfr800ch I'll find out from fotoVUE what the problem is. Thanks for letting me know. I'll drop you another reply when I find out. 🙂
The voucher issue has now been resolved and it should be working again now. :-)
Working on my own photo book. These videos give me a lot of design ideas.
Good luck with the design. :-)

Thanks Tim. It's mind boggling to think how much time and effort has gone into these books! 👍
Well done Julian, a smashing revue …
Thanks Allan! :-)

Excellent review pal. James needs to make a website / app so you can take the book with you...you get access with proof of purchase.
