Thanks for this! I'm looking to buy a fountain pen in the near future and I need to do more research so I'm happy to see this video. I've watched all your other fountain pen videos, as well!
Hi Teoh, Thank you for an other amazing review! I am curious for Osprey performance with the G-nib at the longer run. I used to mod Jinhao's in similar fashion, but the feed always clogged due to the big breathing gap in the G-nib, the ink dried up in this section and ink flow stopped. An other issue I had with Jinhao's is that even the gold plated Zebra nibs rusted / eroded. Please keep us updated, if Osprey still writes without clogging up in the following 2/3 weeks, it's a winner for me :D I would really love to find an affordable pen with G-nib flexibility for drawing.
I have owned a few Osprey Pens for a couple years now. The Scholar being my favorite either with the G-Nib & Flexpert Feed or with one of their extremely smooth wonderfully bouncy stock nibs. When using the Gnib the flow is fantastic! I never get hard starts or railroads even after letting it sit for. Week between uses sometimes. I only use Noodlers Inks because almost all of them are neutral pH so the G-nib lasts ages even left in an inked pen!! I carry it with me everyday!! I LOVE it!! A modified Jinhao ((which I have a few of also))has absolutely nothing on these pens!!
Amazing, thanks for doing this video. Been a huge fan of platinum carbon pens and have been looking for a thicker more flexible line I will check the Madison out!
Thank you once again. I will be interested in seeing your review of these pens. I've tried two different flexible nib fountain pens. One clogged, the other leaked all over. How about these?
Pretty nice reviews on these pens, I like the name also Osprey the name of of a protected bird in my state, these pens seem like they would work well and the price is not too spendy,
..... in your personal opinion If you have to choose between the kamvas16 and the xp pen innovator, look at it in terms of performance only. What will you choose? ...Thank you if you will please.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm thinking of getting a Scholar and/or Madison, either with a G-Nib, EEF Flex Nib or their Phosbronze Ultra Flex. I already use G-nibs so I know how these fare. But how would you say the other nibs compares to the FPR Ultra Flex ones? Thank you so much! Looking forward to watching all your detailed reviews on those.
It depends on what performance you're looking for. G nibs have very specific performance that can't be replicated by usual so called flex nib. For one, G nibs are much sharper and can draw hairline. So in that sense, it has better line variation since you can get the line to be really thin. FPR ultra flex are what I would consider to be common flex nibs. Similar to Pilot falcon nibs. Perhaps better than Noodlers Ahab and Konrad.
@@teohyc Thank you so much! I have a few 5.5 FPR Ultra Flex. I'm thinking of getting an Osprey pen, but my current budget won't allow me to get all their flex nib offering to try. I'm in Canada so with shipping it gets quite pricey. 😅 I do really love my FPR Ultra Flex but miss the thin lines of the G-Pen sometimes. I even tried the Jinhao hack, but never succeeded, sadly. I'm trying to narrow it down to 1 or 2. With what you said, I'll definetly get a G nib, or fit some of those I already have in there. Have you tried their other nibs? I'm particularly curious about the Phosbronze. Thanks again!
@@kesh49 Phosbronze is a Fine nib with some flex. It's not different from the other flex nib, just that the colour is phosbronze en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphor_bronze#/media/File:Loppusijoituskapseli.jpg
I know this video is about pens, but since it’s your most recent I’m writing this here. Can you please suggest a quality watercolor pallet. I have Windsor Newton non-professional, but would really like something better. Love your videos
I think the G nibs were designed to be replaced very often (I heard that some manga artists might change nibs after a few pages!) , what's your take on the 'durability' of those nibs and how that impacts the concept of having a "fountain pen" with a nib that wears out very fast?
You can replace the Zebra G nibs that are on these fountain pens easily. The selling point is you no longer have to constantly dip the nib to load ink. And you also don't get your hands dirty because your hand won't hit the ink bottle.
Too bad you failed to show the pens in action. Like with ink! Watching this video is useless without seeing how the pens work with the flexible nibs. I wasted my time here.
Thank you for showing how to use the nib block, you did it better than the instruction page.

awesome video, as always Teoh. i love Osprey.
Great video. I just ordered my Osprey Zebra G pen. Thanks!
thanks for your video, unfortunately hard to catch in Europe but good to know that it exist.
Oh, the nib block looks to be a repurposed cotton reel if I'm not mistaken.
It's DEFINITELY just a thread reel. My mom has so many of them.
Holy COW we literally have ALL the exact same pens from Osprey in all the same colors!! Thats really interesting to me!!!

Older video, but Might I ask what inks you have tried this with, and if any of them can handle Deleter brand ink # 4-6?

I can’t find that g nib ink holder reservoir thing online. What’s the product name?
Search nib holder on their website www.ospreypens.com
