I've had a ride request that asked me to pick up a package before. I was asked to bring some prescription medication from a hotel to the hospital. That person did not ask me to do it until I got to the pickup location. I rolled the timer out and hit them with a no-show fee, and drove away. I refuse to be anybody's donkey or mule.
Criminals can be of any shape, size, or color. This man was just stupid and has no excuse. If his life was truly in danger he would've stayed inside his home where it's safer and call the police.
OMG, Tim, you're like the Sherlock Holmes of Uber drivers, dude! Seriously, you've got this whole thing figured out. I mean, picking up packages? That's like playing Russian roulette with a semi-automatic, man! You never know what's in that box, could be a bomb, could be a severed head, could be Justin Bieber's dirty underwear - who knows! And this poor lady, bless her soul, got caught up in some crazy old dude's paranoid delusions. Dude's 81, probably thinks the mailman is a Russian spy and his cat is plotting to take over the world. But seriously, Tim, you're doing the lord's work out there, educating these drivers on the dangers of picking up random crap. You're like the Uber whisperer, dude! Keep on keeping it real, my man!
I agree with your comments, I do believe race probably had something to do with it. 81 yr old means he was born in 1943 which means he was and adult before the civil rights act so he could be one of those old white liberals that never saw equality in his fellow man. I agree that this woman posed no threat to him at all and should have not lost her life period.
I said the same thing when a friend asked why I don't do package delivery for Uber. Those multi-stop rides from Uber and lyft are used my people to go pickup drugs and go back home also.

Yep, I had a package order. Obviously drugs going from one city in UK to another. Did not get into an arguement as they dumped the package on the back seat before I knew what was going on. Delivered it but reported to Uber and blocked the customer.
From what i understand, the lady was sitting in her car about to leave and he shot her 2 to 3 times,at minimum, he needs to spend the rest of his life in prison. No one is safe with this trigger happy old man free.
Scam Artist Is using Uber Drivers .... THEN UBER NEEDS TO BEEN """TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS""" DUE TO UBER OF NOT VETTING THESE CUSTOMERS .... WITHOUT BACKGROUND CHECK .... & USE, ABUSE & MANIPULATE uber DRIVERS ((uber WHO OWNS lyft))!!!
I’ve done a package run before, but it was from a security company. The guy who was installing a security system at a house was 40 minutes away and needed parts.
That’s unfortunate, sounds like she was doing Uber Connect. Ive done a few of those deliveries and people could be sending anything (cooked meals, documents to doctors, spare car keys to someone who locked themselves out). This man tried to cover up his crime and was caught. I don’t care that he is 81, he could’ve been confused but she clearly wasn’t a threat for him to be using a gun. He is a killer. Condolences to her family.
This is tough. This one is the first incident where I’m not sure the driver could have been aware prior to arriving at the house. But we gotta call an apple an apple Tim, that was pure Racism and Hatred 😢
The problem with that is everything is considered racist so I’m not gonna just jump the gun and call this man a racist when everyone is considered racist today
@@iidentifyasadoctor If that would have been a middle aged white driver they would be alive right now. Totally different than discriminating against a ping request. One is hatred, one is survival.
One time a few years ago I picked up two video camera batteries to take to a lady at a Clemson football game. I picked them up from her mother at her house and it was obvious what I was picking up due to them not being in a box or bag. I would not pick up anything in a box that I wasn’t sure what was in it. I don’t do deliveries due to not feeling comfortable like you said about getting out of my car.
This is exactly why I don’t do Uber Connect. The entire operation is suspect. You never know who you’re picking shit up from, or what it is, and who you’re bringing it to.
I’ve done a few of them, but they are usually from a business dropping stuff up to a diff location, but I live downtown Austin Texas most people ain’t jacking shit, but still gotta be aware of where you going, sucks for this lady rip looks like a rural area, u would never see me Around that area been a city dude my whole life..
Idk if race was involved bc race is constantly thrown around so it’s hard to tell & maybe he was afraid & getting scammed calls & thought she was there to kill him but the problem is she wasn’t. She tried to leave & he killed her. That’s the part that makes him guilty. Guilty asf
There is a "possibility" that he originally thought his life was in danger. But there obviously became a point when he clearly knew he had the upper hand, was dealing with an unarmed person and decided to murder them. Definitely agree with your last 2 words.
@@Thehandsomeliberal you’re right about that. Once he got his gun, he knew he had the upper hand. He’s 80, so maybe race was a big part to play. A few weeks ago I arrived at the pickup location and my phone rang. It was the passenger who asked if I would do him a favor and pick up a package from the smoke shop. I said "No." The caller was surprised and said other drivers have done it. I told them I pick up passengers not packages. He then said there was going to be a good tip. Lol. I said "So you aren't here, right?" He said to just cancel the ride then. I don't know about other drivers but I make sure to get paid for my time. There was about 1 minute left on the pick-up timer so I waited. I then got a 2nd call from the rider. He asked if I was sure that I didn't want to pickup the package cause there would be a good tip. I said I was absolutely sure. His tone then changed from persuasive to threatening. He told me to cancel the ride then because he was not going to pay me anything. I told him I was going to cancel but as a rider no-show. He said he was going to complain to Lyft and I hung up. The timer ended and I got my $2. I do not suffer fools gladly.
@@Quickcat21MK Yeah they do. I picked up a passenger last week who refused to wear a seatbelt and when I cancelled Lyft app said I wouldn't get paid. I had to call Lyft and explain the reason for cancelling to get the cancellation fee credit.

Oh really.
She was limping away. He should have let her go.
using a gun is only permitted in a life threstenong situation, she was not threatening anyone
If she was crawling back in her car she was no longer a threat. This whole shit is a mess and honestly uber is partial blame here.
Thanks for sharing, won't be picking up packages ever!!
