I’m so unbelievably happy that Jack is playing this. Partially because I love watching him play souls games, but mostly because I need someone to explain what’s going on to me.
Honestly I thought for the longest time that the Tarnished were meant to be like fallen warriors that were brought back to life cause of the opening cutscene where you see a lot of the Round Table hold NPCs and then you see a MASSIVE tomb-like place of a lot of covered bodies and the narrator is like "NOW RISE TARNISHED" or whatever but it turns out the tarnished were banished from the Erdtree's Blessing or something and are back because of the Shattering. Like the first one makes a lot of sense but the actual one is oh yeah the Erdtree didn't like you so you were kicked out of the Lands Between but now you're back go be Elden Lord.
I’m so hyped to watch this whole series in one night for two reasons 1. I fuckin love elden ring 2. I fuckin love jackcepticeye This is gonna be awesome
Jack uploading a 2 hour video that wasn't a live stream, amazing. Really goes to show how big the game is for Jack to do this. This is gonna be the start like like a 20 video series 2 hour long each I hope.
I had an intresting experience with tree sentinel. I didn’t try and fight him, but I was in awe of his armor and got a little too close. Next thing you know there is a bosses health bar at the bottom of my screen and I’m screaming as I run for my dear life.
Right there with ya. Managed to kill it after 6 hours of game time and 3 weeks of being upset with it not realizing there's AN ENTIRE WORLD LITERALLY SURROUNDING YOU.
I'm a well-versed veteran of FromSoft's work by now (first got a taste for it with _Armored Core: For Answer,_ if anyone cares), but what genuinely surprised me on my first playthrough was how much _fun_ I was having doing _nothing._ I was already at Level 50 when I remembered there was a castle I was supposed to be storming -- 15 levels later, I _still_ keep finding excuses to explore instead.
@@goofyahhh254 Considering Margit went down like a sack of spuds when I got around to facing him, I'm sure I could flatten Godrick without much trouble. I'm just having more fun exploring the rest of the map and finding new nooks and crannies and smile-inducing surprises like the one at Murkwater Cave.
Man it's so refreshing starting another person's playthrough with them already having experienced the game. I don't have to watch another person wander aimlessly, learn the mechanics, and try to fight things that are obviously way out of their league. I can already tell this will be a quick and efficient series that we'll all enjoy very much!
Well, I disagree completely. It’s fun watching a personality you like discover new things in a game like this and see their honest reaction whether it’s fear, surprise or wonder. It’s fun watching them wander aimlessly then fall into an epic boss fight or happen upon a mysterious character or location for the first time. It’s fun watching them grow and learn the mechanics and fight things way out if their league. Some of my favourite videos are of Jack doing just that. I like this video, but I would have loved to see Jack’s first reactions as he explored the game. It’s always refreshing and never gets old. But I completely understand why he wanted to experience this game for himself and don’t blame him.
I feel like both gow:ragnarok and elden ring deserve the GOTY award but elden ring is such a good game that even tho I like gow:ragnarok more I am almost as happy as I would have been if gow:ragnarok won GOTY
@@diamondthehunter8895 for me it's that the newer gow games are not unique nothing bad about that but everything in them was done before beside the backseat gamer built into the game I think idk but yeah elden ring innovated on a dying formula
Sean: posts on Elden Ring Me: yo, a new perspective on the game! Sean: I’ve already played this through 5 times. Me celebrating defeating Margit yesterday after over 20 hours in this game: *”Wait, what?”*
i’m on my 85th hour about to do journey 3 i’m tryna do everything before i go to journey 3 though because I feel like i rushed a lot through my first play through and didn’t explore fully.
"That narrator just gave 100%, didn't he?" Fr! I've seen the opening like 5 times, and I always get goosebumps! The "Ooooh RIIISE, ye Tarnished!" is so epic!
After Jack said that Bloodborne was his favorite game of all time, I knew that Elden Ring was going to be a contender once he started playing it, he’s in for quite a ride.
I like how the more colourful aesthetic makes the enemies and bosses more defined. In many of the other games although they still had cool designs, they would end up just looking like a mass of grey making it harder to appreciate their design.
I think what they did with ds3 was very artistic, the grey world being a symbolism of how decayed its become. It makes scenes like leaving the catacombs to see the city of irythil much more memorable, yet I still love the colorful world they made with elden ring
I love when Sean does more educational gameplay vids; where he explains lore and points out voice actors and things like that. It's so helpful and interesting
I love the writing of Elden Ring, they give the Tarnished so much personality, between reactions being commented on by npcs and actually having dialog options instead of just yes or no now the Tarnished gives such an air headed and somehow innocent vibe, which makes sense considering how the Tarnished is so often referred to as young
Keep in mind for most of the early bosses, the challenge is up to how many smithing stones you get for your weapons, because if you explore well, you can get your weapon way higher level than "supposed" and in turn do a whole ton more damage. Bleed builds are also pretty powerful, especially with dual wielding. Obviously though, dodging/blocking properly is dependant on your skill level, and generally that will still be the biggest thing to determine whether or not you'll win.
I got so jealous when he talked about how he would just explore irl and find old dilapidated buildings. I've always wanted to explore and find things like that.
Urbex is super cool. Been doing it with an organized (well, self-organized) group for the past year and a half or so. Coolest place we've been to was an abandoned military outpost with a bunker beneath it up on a mountain. Honestly, if you are interested in Urbex, find a friend or two who you think could enjoy it too, bring flashlights, basic first aid and phones, and then look up online for cool places around your area. There are lots of Urbex communities everywhere, and humans being humans - we abandon our stuff as quickly as we create it, you can bet there are abandoned structures around you no matter where you are. Just make sure to read about the place if any info is available, to know what sorts of dangers might be inside (say, collapses, wildlife, hobos who use the place as a drug den? I've encountered all, lol.) Otherwise, if there is no info available, and honestly even if there is - keep your guard up, be careful with every step and don't be too ballsy. And, ofc, always use your head. Don't want to be in an abandoned basement while it's raining outside, for instance. Awful place to drown, some old hospital's maintenance tunnel.
I’ve listened to this series 3 times while also completing my own 3 play throughs I’ve did each main ending. This was my first FromSoft game and it’s overall my favorite game I’ve ever played. Thank you so much for creating a series and helping me enjoy the game more.

I will say this forever and ever, one of my favorite parts of elden ring is how the boss fights will consistently make you say "oh, shit..." They always make you wonder how the hell you're supposed to defeat this absolute abomination of god in front of you, and when you finally get it, you celebrate and woop and holler, because it was hard as fuck.
My boyfriend is currently helping me through my playthrough, first ever Souls game. He kept encouraging me as I got my ass beat by Margit, saying it took him close to 15 tries to defeat him. It got so frustration that I actually had to stop before I started crying but I GOT HIS ASS THE NEXT TIME!!!! It only took me 10 tries, which he told me isn't that much. I also got Godric down to 1/3 health my first try
@@vee7330 yea my first souls game was dark souls 3 but I went through it with my dad Elden ring was the first one I soloed an now I’ve played the crap out of it and now I’m quite good it took a lot of time to kill the bosses on my first play through
Fucking Margit, I got the game four days ago, and I only just today beat Margit I needed to get Sorcerer Rogier to help at the start, then I lowered his HP to about 20%, summoned those Spirit Wolves, had them chip away for a bit while I threw fire pots, and after that it was all a matter of skill and what little game knowledge I had Landing that final hit felt like I’d just conquered an entire kingdom, and it was the first boss
I beat Godrick today for the first time and it felt amazing, also I agree about the bosses being scary, this is the first game in a while we're I've been genuinely scared to fight bosses. 😅
Sean: “FINALLY I have clear validation for why my head is such a mess” (talking about how he was diagnosed w/ ADHD) Not even a second later: “Ah THESE clouds are cool!” I lov ya dude…keep doing what you’re doing
Sean: "I miss the Mimics in this game! I wish some of the chests had Mimics, but none of 'em _do_ now..." Me: "...Guess that one chest with the tail was just my imagination, then... phew."
Been playing as a female Warrior and noticed something about the dialogue: When Melina first shows up on Torrent, her lines slightly change depending on your chosen gender. I love little details like that.
pretty sure you can buy the bell later in the roundtable if you didnt get it from her. i looked up how to summon, and they said buy it there. when i went to buy it, she didnt have it! so i looked it up and i already had it in my inventory because i actually met renna in this church
This is why I love watching Jack's content. This really isn't a game that I would play - but I love watching someone who knows what they're doing play through it.
Just saying, I watch your videos so that my bf can talk to me about his games and I can actually hold a conversation. You are very enjoyable to watch, thank you for educating me
Could you talk to my girlfriend about this too? I’d love to have an educated conversation with her about Elden Ring but she’s not even pretending to be interested. So I always feel like I’m just talking at her about it and it sucks.
Am I the only one that still turns this series on every month or two to rewatch? This was my favorite series! I’ve gotten to the point where I can quote most of it as I watch 🤣❤
I'm so not into playing these games myself, but I absolutely LOVE to see others play them! So thank you Jack for uploading these series, so I too can enjoy these stories and beautiful sceneries!
I completely agree, I love to watch these playthroughs. I have been watching GabSmolders do the entire playthrough and it is fun and great quality but I had been hoping he would do a playthrough just to watch a different perspective and build!
You should try playing one of the games with a walkthrough. I used to not be able to beat Dark Souls but I watched a walkthrough and haven’t needed one in any of the other games. But it doesn’t have to be for you and that’s okay
Sean, on the Walking Mausoleum: _"Dude,_ the first time I saw this, I was _FLOORED."_ Me: "What a coincidence -- so was _I,_ after the thing fell on my _head."_

Jack's amazing gameplay aside, I absolutely love how the editor does this small transitions and effects for example in 24:37 how jack does the 4 combo attack it switches into another scene where he does the same attack seamlessly is fucking amazing. Mad props to the editor
Surprisingly, Elden Ring is much more forgiving in terms of "softlocking" yourself out of side quests than previous souls games. Instead of just rendering a quest undoable when you do something a lil too soon, Elden Ring mostly just automatically skips stages of side quests or simply allows you to do them whenever you want (no rush or anything). Pretty neat
“Full disclosure I finished the game 5 times by now” Thanks Sean for respecting your audience time, and telling us this fact in advance. I don’t think I’ll watch your videos on Elden Ring since I want to watch people first experience with the game, but I hope everyone who does watch them to enjoy them 👍
I guess there's two categories of people. The half who like the fact he's not a beginner and get to watch him explain lore and his seasoned opinion about the game and not fumble with the controls or anything. And the other half who want to watch a player not understand anything about the game for the first time.

Just finished his Bloodborne playthrough a couple weeks ago, and was so excited to see this in my feed. Haven't watched anyone else yet, just heard talk about it, and that Jack has already played it and just sharing it with us now has made me unreasonably happy. XD Bloodborne's playthrough was a delight to watch him have fun with something familiar and already solved, so I can't wait to start this!
I didn’t think I’d enjoy watching someone actually playing this because I figured it would be all failure and rage, but Jack is so impressive at this honestly lol. Wow.
Jack: “I think he looks cool, don’t you?” Me: “yes very cool” Jack: “I do whatever, I don’t care what you think” Me: “yes sir I apologize I will never question you or dinklebamp again sir”
I've only played the tiniest bit of this game, and it's been a ton of fun. The combat is so clean and the visuals are gorgeous. I had a really funny moment where the lady shows up and I turned to my friend and said "is that Merlina from Sonic and the Black Knight" because they've both got the hooded sorceress thing going on, and then it turns out her name is Melina which is literally one letter off... I laughed so hard at that tiny coincidence.
Seán having a neurodivergent revelation is far too relatable. As someone else who had a diagnosis of neurodivergence in adulthood, looking back on your childhood/past and seeing how you fit all the signs and everything is pointing directly to being neurodivergent. The feeling of "Wow, I've had this all my life." It's like a plot twist. There's foreshadowing, the whole 9 yards.
This, had my diagnosis last year and finally (important) people recognise that life ís harder for me, because of the consequences of it. Not because i dont want to do stuff... People who dont recognise it, are not important anymore
@@kathyhalters4288 That is another thing as well. Ableism affects the neurodivergent, no matter if they choose to acknowledge it or not. And that is the importance of being aware and having words to describe the experiences. To take that away is to take away the basis of problem solving.
@@Envrionmela the biggest ableist appears to be me though. I have to unlearn all those things, because i keep repeating it in my mind. So Yeah, the ableism is so ingrained for a lot of us neurodivergent, we became part of the problem...
@@kathyhalters4288 very true. That’s another big thing about having the benefit of hindsight. Is how it shows that the times we’re hard on ourselves for being neurodivergent is a reflection of the behaviour shown to us in out developmental years.
Jack talking about summons made me remember how mad i was fighting the bloodhound and struggling then learning that if you talked to blaidd and started his quest you can summon him during the fight and make it so much easier
I didn't know about that the first time I fought him, but I beat him easily enough as a sorcerer. Magic is a beast in this game. When I realized the howling in the ruins was Blaidd on my second time through, I looked it up online and followed that quest chain. I'll definitely be doing it that way from now on, just because it's fun to see Blaidd in action and makes the fight much simpler.
I’m so pleased you’ve decided to do a series on this. Please feel free to do a full 100% run of everything as I will consume any and all JackRing content
I wonder why he waited so long. Maybe he didnt want to upload elder ring gameplay at the same time everyone else started too. Either way im happy he didnt take too long to get started :)
The part where Sean had no health and still killed the boss had me on the edge of my SEAT! Holy CRAP that cool! This game is so immersive I had fun just watching it!
Bro slaying tough bosses is the biggest reason I like metroidvanias (especially DS games it’s got like the perfect setting and everything) and the only thing cooler than killing a boss is killing it when you’re a hit away from death and you’re just hyper focused and the adrenaline is pumping, and I can feel all that bleeding over watching him fight.
every upload I am gonna say why I love this game so much here’s this one I love this game cause just in the beginning you get a sense of grandiosity and awe inspiring feeling when you just stop and look around as you realize you can go there and appreciate that even during these dark times of video games there are still people out there who care about video games and don’t just give us unreasonable things to play it like I just love it
Elden Ring is my first entry into the "Souls-type" games and I have LOVED every minute of it. I thought the difficulty would turn me away from the game but the deaths were always MY fault and you DO get better the longer you play. THANK YOU JACK for uploading this on your channel. I hope these videos get more people to see just how amazing this game is and not to be afraid of it's difficulty.
@@CrumbsOG Mind you, the game is still hard. Especially the endgame, the difficulty spike there was enormous to the point where even Souls series veterans like myself struggled a lot in this game. However, I will let you know that only a single endgame boss is true bullsh*t in that it is just poorly designed with no redeeming values; all the other endgame bosses, even if they are bullsh*t at times, are still fun to fight for the most part. Here's some advice to make the game more manageable for you: make sure to have at least 50 points in health by the endgame, make sure to not solely rely on a single weapon because not every weapon is good in every scenario, and check the descriptions of the items you pick up, some have some crazy useful abilities you might not know about otherwise. Good luck!
Jack: beaten the game ~5 times after around 250 hours Me: hasn't beaten the game once after nearly 500 hours (Edit (5/4/22)) Me again: after 569 hours (nice), has finally gotten around to beating Elden Ring
I am super thrilled you decided to upload a playthrough of Elden Ring. I was looking forward to yours more than anyone else's. That being said, I also wanted to say congratulations on getting your official diagnosis, Jack! I hope getting medication and help goes smoothly for you. My 7 year old was diagnosed with ADHD this year after a very challenging couple of years in school, and we are finally taking the steps to get him the help he needs. His father was also diagnosed back in his school days, and we suspect that I am undiagnosed, as my mom (often) tells me about how much my son's behaviors reminds her of me as a child. And I'm a mess as an adult now, haha. Best of luck!
DISCLAIMER: I have not yet played Elden Ring, but will share my thoughts on what I’ve seen so far. The little details show how far FromSoftware as a studio have come since the days of PS3 Demon’s Souls - I noticed that when you speak to characters, their mouths actually move as opposed to just speaking like a ventriloquist. Also, the ambitious move to open-ended exploration while keeping the signature SoulsBorne interconnectivity (as well as its mad difficulty) intact seems like it has really paid off considering its massive sales numbers since its release in February earlier this year. This is the epitome of a studio going full-on ambition and making it work astonishingly well. If you’re looking for a FromSoft game to play before this, I definitely recommend Bloodborne as gameplay elements from that game (i.e. viscerals) have been kept - even improved upon - here. EDIT: I also agree with Sean about the summoning - FromSoft games are designed to be played any way the player wants; summoning companions to fight tougher bosses is sometimes the best way to get a boss killed more easily. A few examples: I almost defeated the Blood-Starved Beast in Bloodborne on my first try; I tried using Jack’s strategy but it fell apart halfway through the fight and paid dearly for it. Not wanting to botch things up again, I summoned Alfred for help and beat him second try, and despite suffering from poison static effects more times than I’d like to admit, we made it through with half health each. Amelia? Didn’t break a sweat. However, Darkbeast Paarl was a doozy; even though it took two tries, each with a summon, I still had major trouble keeping my companion alive - he died 3/4 of the way through, but it was a little better second try (I actually beat every boss I’ve encountered so far in less than 3 tries, to even my surprise). The thing is, the way I play, I like to summon a companion (sometimes as a last resort) so that he/she can draw the boss’s aggro away from me so I have time to catch my breath and refill my health and stamina; that way it makes it a little easier on me and I can actually make sure I have sufficient stamina to attack and dodge.
For me summoning just removes my need for dodging so I don't really use it beside elden ring because in elden ring it feels more so than the other games that you are MENT to use the spirit and player summons so yeah that's my take.
I’ve got like almost done 170 hours on one character haven’t even finished the game yet because I’ve been trying to find everything I possibly can. Elden Ring is so good
Fucking same, not knocking jack, but how the living shit has he beat it 5 times?! I know others have too that many times at this point, but christ lol I feel ya
@@Necromorph790 I have beaten it three times with a total of 150 hours. I might be missing content but I have calculated that you technically only need to beat 10 (8 depending on what events you trigger). So yeah you can beat it pretty quickly if you know what you are doing.
As a souls veteran my first main playthrough where I 100%’d (ish) the map was about 120 hours I believe! Hes a god at these games too so I feel like he woulda taken the same amount of time on his first run, then his other runs he would have focused more on questing for his specific intended builds and not clearing every single enemy and grabbing every item.
I'm so happy Sean's decided to play this for the channel. Ever since I started watching Evelyn play it, and after hearing her say he'd completed the game about 4 times already, I was so hopeful we'd get to see him play. Thank you Sean for sharing this with us!

I purposely avoided any playthroughs, memes, clips, and even gameplay trailers until I had a chance to play. I'm so happy I got the chance to enjoy this absolutely gorgeous game
I like that you emphasize that people can play games the way they want to. I'm the type of person that keeps games on easy mode because I play games to relax, not get super frusterated because the game is on normal difficulty and I'm not that good.
I'm glad jack finally got that ADHD thing figured out, I got adhd so I knew he had it the day I first saw him and that's part of why I love his content cause I could relate to how he acts, bouncing around like he does from thing to thing, forgetting shit a lot, etc. It's just another reason why I watch him
i have ADHD too and for the longest time i could never figure out why i liked watching him all these years. whenever people asked why i liked watching him i could never explain it, but now i know it’s because of our similar mindsets
Aside from the game, which I'm so happy to see that you're playing on the channel and that I've enjoyed so much, I'm glad that you finally got an ADHD diagnostic, I personally had suspected that I had OCD for the last 15 years, and a week or two ago I got a diagnostic, and I know exactly what you mean, it feels absolutely amazing to finally know after thinking you have it for so long and just not knowing at all. Keep up the good work, I'm hoping for so much more like this, I absolutely adore your mostly unedited playthrough videos.

You know, with how many backstabs Jack's been pulling off, I'm surprised he hasn't gone to the Death Touched Catacombs yet. The thing he gets from beating that boss heals you a little whenever you pull off a critical strike.
I love how you can see that the guy at the start of the castle has lost the lower left of his arm and just has the sleeve dangling as he attacks, because Godrick probably took it either for himself or one of the Grafted Scions. And as far as I can tell, it's unique to his character model, despite sharing one with a common enemy type. Great little detail.
@@kubobetterrelax7435 it's also had 6-7 years to culminate. Once any DLC comes out and we make more connections Elden Ring will likely be up there, don't know about better though, but Bloodborne was treated pretty similarly back in the day
@@Cybersomnia True. The game-play and weapon variety of ER is much better but the story doesn't capture my imagination in the same way. While I'm very happy Jack has finally recorded the game for us to see I'm kinda disappointed I don't get to see his first reactions to everything in the game. The first reaction is always the best and always will be.
Yeah I can understand that. Elden Ring was special to me though and I didn't want my first time to be on camera. I wanted to feel truly comfortable exploring on my own
On the other hand though, there's likely none of that frustration of him missing obvious and/or cool stuff and not knowing what to do. Like he's gonna show us the coolest ending and explain the lore. As someone who doesn't have a way to play the game myself, I rly appreciate it.

As a lady with ADHD, getting the diagnosis is actually really nice because it validates the fact that there’s a reason for your behavior and you’re not just a strange and abnormal person. I would say, that while medication is helpful for a lot of people, it’s okay if you discover you don’t like it. I personally stopped taking mine due to the way it affected my personality and life. Lots of ADHD meds curb your appetite so I lost loads of weight and was 120 lbs as a 5’9 individual which was not remotely healthy. Do what’s best for you and your diagnosis Jack. I’m happy that you’re happy. Much love my friend ❤️
Yes I feel having a label to ascribe things to helps a lot more than many people may realize. As for medication, I personally got lucky and experienced absolutely zero side effects (I can't completely rule out stunted growth but I was already short to begin with so that's probably just genetics anyway). Only issue I've had is that I quickly develop immunity to the positive effects as well, resulting in me having to increase the dosage quite frequently until I just stopped taking them because we decided it wasn't really worth it.
I had those side effects too at first, I changed to Concerta and then only had the emotional side effects (appetite came back), then started taking half at breakfast and half at lunch and it's worked great for me. That said, if you can manage your life well without meds, then that's great! I just don't think I'd be able to manage myself.

I like how the more colourful aesthetic makes the enemies and bosses more defined. In many of the other games although they still had cool designs, they would end up just looking like a mass of grey making it harder to appreciate their design.
Agreed, FromSoft really made a thought out and awesome masterpiece with Elden Ring
I think what they did with ds3 was very artistic, the grey world being a symbolism of how decayed its become. It makes scenes like leaving the catacombs to see the city of irythil much more memorable, yet I still love the colorful world they made with elden ring

I needed to hear this, because I wanted elden ring but thought it would be too difficult
Good luck!

@@Necromorph790 I have beaten it three times with a total of 150 hours. I might be missing content but I have calculated that you technically only need to beat 10 (8 depending on what events you trigger). So yeah you can beat it pretty quickly if you know what you are doing.
As a souls veteran my first main playthrough where I 100%’d (ish) the map was about 120 hours I believe!

there, there, we all have our weaknesses; he went thru some of the story aspects of God of War with no trouble on normal mode while i kept dying to Balder (guy who is near unkillable but is allergic to mistletoe) on the dragon's back because i didn't know how to NOT get pile-drive by his fists and hit him back. ...and i was on easy mode.

You know, with how many backstabs Jack's been pulling off, I'm surprised he hasn't gone to the Death Touched Catacombs yet. The thing he gets from beating that boss heals you a little whenever you pull off a critical strike.
A little? That talisman made me darn near immortal till I hit Leyndell
Jack before playing Elden Ring: “Bloodborne was the best game ever.”
Jack after playing Elden Ring: “Move on over.”
Given that Bloodborne came out seven years ago, I think he'll still have Bloodborne higher. He's beaten Elden Ring at least twice.

Thats why you should never proclaim a game as the best ever no matter how much you like it
@@kubobetterrelax7435 it's also had 6-7 years to culminate.
I can't believe Jack snuck an Elden Ring playthrough in his autobiography
Feel exactly the same, thank you for putting alot of our thoughts into words
