Greenwood is a phenomenal composer.
This song sounds like present tense smile version. Sounds so pure.Wasn´t expecting to enjoy this side project.
I don't think we can call this a side project at this point they're really going for it
@@anorakb536 Yeah what do u expect Thom Yorke literally said the smile is their new band.
It reminds me Nose Grows Some vibes
@Fantomas646 Yeah it's almost got this sexy Spanish meets Radiohead vibe to it
@@twochordcool it's not quite as Bossa Nova as Present Tense but its vibe is so there especially near the song's end
This song is ridiculously beautiful
This song will heal your heart from love lost each time you listen to it.
There are guitar nuances reminiscent of "Reckoner" floating in the second half. And the vibe of the album as a whole feels like an adjunct to A Moon Shaped Pool.
There aren't more then 2 people in the world that can craft a song like that.
2? What about Tom Skinner?
I had only Thom on my mind. You're so right!!
Please never stop Making music, Thom
"Left in a station with a note upon" -- this line is so evocative. Maybe it's luggage they can't take with them? A pet they have to abandon? Or worse?
I might be totally wrong but I view this song as being about Kiev, Ukraine in general I guess. If I recall early on in the invasion the Russians bombed a station full of people and when they found the remnants of the missile it had the words 'for the children' written on it. Could be wrong though.
Maybe... what if? Man, so profound. lol
Many babies have sadly been left in train stations over the years , that's what I imagine he meant.💜
This song is so powerful , a true masterpiece.
It never fails that Thom and Johnny can put out an album that at first disorients, and yet ends up worming it's way into your subconscious. My first listen leaves me wondering if their best days are behind them, but after repeated investigation I fall ever deeper in love with it. It's one of my favorite characteristics of their songwriting. It never gets old.
And Jonny's brass orchestration on this album is sublime.
Soo true, when I first heard the singles, nothing seemed to click and I did hear them multiple times ( if theres anything ive learnt after hearing Radiohead, its that lol). But then upon hearing the whole album together, it was a mermerising and enchanting experience to say the least.
Suddenly, You'll never work in TV, Thing Thing, PanaVision and Free in the Knowledge clicked soo much that I couldnt believe my past self EVER doubted these guys.
Someone who listens to this and thinks, "Are their best days behind them?" needs to give up. It doesn't matter that you eventually came around on ten listens.
@@markymarkzero Dude get over yourself.
@@markymarkzero What do you mean? I would say Radiohead/The Smile are the definition of a band whose material “grows on you”
it's the rolling piano from The Numbers/Glass Eyes at 3:05 that seals it for me
It's been a rough year. Lost my dad, a friend, and a pet over the past months, and lost myself as well. My wife just surprised me with tickets for the Miami show in June. I began listening again, crying, and remembering why life is so precious and sweet. Thank you for this beautiful song. It was here when I needed it most.
Thinking of you, stranger. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope you've been able to find yourself again.
In the past year, I’ve lost my mama, my oldest sister and 3 days ago her youngest son unexpectedly died. When my sister died, I listened to this song over and over for days. I turn 70 tomorrow, my nephew’s memorial service is in the afternoon and on Monday my partner is taking me to see The Smile as a birthday gift. I wish I could meet Thom to tell him how much this music reaches into my heart and soul!
I’m sorry for all your loss and hope you keep finding the beauty in life. I was there at the same show in Miami. I remember hearing the song live and it was overwhelming the feeling it gives.
Music makes me feel rich when I realize I've not even known about The Smile even if I'm a huge fan of Thom's side projects and collabs. For a few dollars a month almost all music in the world is available to me.
The new album is another incredible piece of genius.
Seems like a happy one at first and then when "devastation has come" hits... What a song, what an album.
One of the best in the album!! This whole project's on another level
As someone who discovered Radiohead 5 years ago in 2017, This album was such a spectacular experience and will always hold a place in my heart. Stayed up till midnight and listened to it three times. Mesmerized.
I started listening in 2017 too, it feels nice to be in this cycle doesn't it? We had Kid Amnesiac and now this amazing album. Fingers crossed LP10 isn't too far off!
Me too
We are the new listeners.
Little by little, every year, I became a great appreciator of the talent of these guys.
And I couldn't be more grateful.
I started getting into Radiohead in 2021 - I went so deep into their music, but also Thom Yorke's electronic albums, Atoms for peace, and now The Smile. I will never understand how music you were never into can have so much impact on you at a specific age. Radiohead (and Thom Yorke) are now my all-time favorite artists and 100% reflect how I feel (at least in this phase of my life).
better late than never...but wow, how did it take so long?
@@cclmoney I know the question isn't directed at me, but some of us are young here lol, i didn't used to listen to music much, i didn't even know what an album was. Radiohead was one of the first bands i ever listened to.
Man i don't want this song to end i actually got a little anxious when i got to the part of this song when i know it is going to end. I would love to hold on to this song a little bit more
I think this may be my favorite.. aside from Thin Thing. Such a beautiful song. Love the way he sings "any feeble branch to put my weight upon"
This album is so good. It’s beautiful, grooving, dark…so textural and in sync with itself. Thom’s voice is fanatastic as always and Johnny’s work is impeccable as we’ve all come to greet with wide open ears. Tom is such a great addition to these two. ❤️❤️❤️
03:13 : the most divine chord change ;)

For some reason I just need to repeat this song over an over again!
I'm immensely captivated to this masterpiece, just by listening to it leaves me with indescribable emotion.
This is just amazingly done
Brilliant album thank you Thom, Tom, and Jonny
The final section of this song is incredible. Favourite moment on the record
When I first listened to this song I was high, and when the song changed it's mood at 1:09 I felt genuine euphoria. This is probably my favorite track because of that experience.
Such a beautiful song, I was at the Rome concert screamingI "love you Thom!!"❤ This song reminds me of "Fragile" by Sting.
Look at the stars and play this music, it is magical ✨
one of the greatest songs I have ever heard ,undoubtedly.
My pick of the album. Something about its mood reminds me of Sting - Shape of My Heart, yet it couldn't be anyone but Thom weaving his usual magic. I get the feeling I'll be revisiting this one for years to come.
oh yes, Sting came to my mind too 😃they are magic!
it reminds me Blood if Eden by Peter Gabriel
I've not seen a group or artist grow and evolve and improve for 30 years. I really havent. a lot of people start phoning it in. Thom and Jonny are a once in a lifetime example of synchronicity. 2 musical genius' meeting, and connecting so deeply. I hope for the future of music, that it had as little as possible to do with their academic backgrounds. if not, there is perhaps a lesson to learn.
I skipped this song after a few seconds when I first got into this album but i'm listening to it again and holy shit that ending is so beautiful my heart hurts
Ocurrió el eclipse de luna...y como la luna, ahora quedé eclipsada con esta sublime melodía y video...la voz, la lírica, la música...Todo un trance musical. ¡Gracias gracias gracias, por está chulada! 🙆🏻♀️✨💖✨✌🏼🎶🌹🪶🙏🏼👌🏼👏🏼🌻🌼
Pretty weird to think the majority of tracks on the album now have music videos. Shout out to Sabrina Nichols for making that the case!
I love you Thom!♥️
This album is mind-blowing. And so are these videos. I feel like a cloud is lifting as the weather is warming and life seems to be returning to normal. This music is helping.
This album is pure quality. Thom's vocal melodies with Johnny's guitar are soul mates. Oh and Johnny's string arrangements on the newer recordings of course
the whole album is fantastic. thanks!
This was my son's last CD 💿 he bought before his life was taken away senselessly ... In his memory, I listen to this specific song 🎵 .... Today is my one year anniversary without him 💔 09/25/23 ...
Sorry for your loss! hopefully this song brings at least some comfort
This song has feelings
My favourite actual band. So profound
They did it again.
This is so incredibly gorgeous. I am in shock.
The intro to Speech Bubbles hits hard everytime I hear it! 😢
Make me cry... Masterpiece
True Masterpiece
This is just so incredibly beautiful, with 2:31 being the absolute center of the album. Like most of Thom, this album turned out to be one which I will always return to.
Love Thom and his angelical approach 🤍
Thank you for your generosity and your artistry.
What a f.. masterpiece!!...
Thom Yorke @ it's best vocalization era! Take it for granted !
thom never fails to make me tear up.
Absolutely surprising and delightful how this song unfolds... each stanza more emotional than the last... gorgeous
Like the off-beat composition, top drummer to keep up with two geniuses. see you in sunny Edinburgh
This gotta be the best song on this god tier album
Thom has such a beautiful voice when he wants to turn it on.
How dare they make something this good? ffs
This is truly magical ❤️ Thank you Thank you Thank you!
This is my favorite Smile song.
I definetly want to hear Thom singing in the last moments of my life. I could go in peace with everything.
Haunting
Beautiful song! I wish the harp remained in the studio version as well
it's there but in the baaaack
i can't believe it sounds diferent than everything else
Prob my fav from the album, do these videos for the rest of the songs ❤️
Album gets better the more I listen
Can’t decide if this or Floodgates is my favorite.
Cannot bloody wait for the Edinburgh gig.
Zagreb today, woooohooo. 😉
@@MrUran11 you're seeing then today?
@@GreenToast01 Yes, in about 4 hours time, I hope there will be an Lp to buy. . 😊
@@MrUran11 nice, enjoy it!

My absolute favorite on this record ❤
Talvez a melhor do disco do Smile....uma delícia para os ouvidos nos dias de hoje....
Artistic masterpiece. They never miss
Yes
This is something else
Love that LP 😍
That first "ringing" holy moly.
The last minute is stunning
This is beautiful.
My favorite song on album too. Tears. Strength. New hope.
Спасибо, Том, за то, что ты есть.
I can't thank you enough for this gift, incredibile album and single, congratulations
This one ends way too early. I love it so much that I want to loop it... 🙏🏽🎶🎵
Sad song...so good...maybe my favourite of the album.
everything about this is beautiful
Lyrics
We run for the hills
We run like fools
Our city is in flames
The bells ringing
The bells ringing
Devastation has come
Left in a station with a note upon
Now there's never any place
Never any place to put my feet back down
No, there's never anywhere
The scene is rolled away, lights are taken down
On a newspaper stand
Any feeble branch to put my weight upon
Well, I lie to myself
Anywhere I dare to put my feet back down
Who’ll find a cab
In the pouring rain?
Who'll find the vein
Put the needle in?
And who hears that voice?
It's like bells ringing
How will I know you?
How will I know you?
How will I know you?
Speech bubbles happens to be another one of my favorites from RadioHead The Smile,Bye for now love Alan
Recommended this album to a good friend of mine. What a gift.
✨ Pure Magic ✨
love it, love you, thank you
this song is transcendent
3:13 onwards...... stunning
This song earths my soul. Do you feel it too?
Beautiful beyond compare...
Extraordinary. My fav song besides free in the knowledge and skirting…Thank you The smile …
Unusual melodic line intro that only Thom Yorke can pull off!😱
The urge to listen to this is strong, but i will abstain for the vinyl.
why does this song just end though?? could have used like 3 other changes. still absolutely incredible
About to listen for the first time.
Keep at it lads, you are getting pretty good.
Lovely snare drum
Superb album 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Том Йорк, ты гений!😌🥰
