In this video, you're seeing a *left*-hand sheet bend!
Don't ever stop making these.
Thank you for teaching us all ❤
Perfect video, I needed to find a better way to tie the end of my tarp. Thank you 🙏
Thank you!
Yes thank you so much makes me wish I was a Boy Scout now in my late 30s finally learning these great life skills lol
definitely earned a sub from me!
Ditto. ✌️

Taking me back to boyscouts
Tip for new knotters - a clove hitch and two half hitches are the exact same knot. One goes around a pole, the other goes around the standing end
Many times uses bur double ones is Great Work, Man

You are like my pokédex for knots and their surrounding information. You make it easy, homie.
0:27 Double knot is very secure and can be used to tie weights around the waist for pullups or dips.
This video is sooo goood!!!!!
Please make more of these!
Very similar to the structure we use in fishing to tie braid and mono or flouro line together. Just with no wraps or finishing. Do this with several twists If you’re using thin line and it will still cinch down.
Love and thanks
I ❤❤❤knots!!
You looped me around too subscribing thanks again for the info. Fun fact used one of the knots you showed us to fix a draw string to my favorite pair of pajama pants.
Awesome! The applications are endless!
Terrific! Thanks for sharing!
Your video made so easy to follow!
☺️👍✌️🇬🇧
Also known as weaver’s knot. Warp thread breaks on loom, loosen warp -do knot. Adjust warp and throw the shuttle, carry on.😊
❤❤❤❤❤COOL😮😮😮
Like Ive always said:
"Wrapping it twice is safer"
yay! now I can run away!!!! /sar
In my fire cadet program we call this the Becket bend.
Got it:
Thru the thicker bend
Under and back over the bend
Thru the two ropes
Tighten
Oh! So it's like a larks head, but at the last second it veers left instead of going through the original loop. I bet that would make it much easier to disassemble.
Me love thank you so much
Would a stopper knot make this more secure? I want to tie some thin cloth with thin cordage, to support my body weight, and im afraid it’ll slip or tear. I know already the amount of tie out points I need to support my weight with the respective materials, I just haven’t figured out the logistics of the tie outs.
Use at least double sheet bend, with a stopper. The regular sheet bend should never be relied upon for life-critical loads.
Both tails should be on the same side for it to be in its strongest state!
Why?
@@pamelah6431 it slips out more easily under load when the tails are on opposite sides! Very much similar to a granny knot, square knot!
These are all backwards and will shake loose. Always make sure the working ends end on the same side of the knot.

Great for tying two shoes together....to carry them over your neck

I used this knot to escape from jail once.. worked perfectly. Lol
我又绳节纠结症🧐
Is the double sheet bend the hammock knot?
I've never seen it by that name, but you could definitely use it to secure lines to the ends of a hammock!
@@thetautline some one asked, bur I didn't know the correct answer.
Merry Christmas 🎅
ez
Can even be used for tiring a line to a sheet - hence the name!
🤔 Shouldn't both tag ends be on the same side? You have them on alternate sides.
You are correct! Sorry about that, will address in a future video!
I intended to make the same observation. It is always depicted, as you say, with the tag ends on the same side of the knot. I have never seen a discussion on how the holding power may be affected if otherwise, however. Perhaps this could be the avenue for the follow-up video, some actual testing, no?
Thanks again, you inspired this video! ua-cam.com/video/0lhIl07mTNc/v-deo.html
Indeed, just finished this! ua-cam.com/video/0lhIl07mTNc/v-deo.html
Unfortunately I don't have the means to carry out breaking strength testing on video myself... Maybe one day I will.
@@thetautline That's a very good study, your new video. There's a YT channel of some folks who take testing very seriously. They have a hydraulic rig set up with which they compare different knots and different cords. I can't recall the name of it now, but it's very popular amongst climbers for obvious reasons. I don't know if they've compared the sheet bend variants, but you've done a great job in your new video. Thanks for going to so much trouble 👍🏻
I may need to use this to escape jail. Thanks😏
I was thinking the same thing. 😅
Wrong. If it’s different thickness it’s a double sheet bend you need not a single
