Hey Alvin, I love your content, it's a much clearly use of Pio for me to understand than I have seen before. I don't use solvers at all so apologies if I got this completely wrong! I have seen before that delayed CBETs get an extremely high fold fold frequency at micro stakes online given that the check behind from villain will often cap them significantly as even the better regs do not balance their checking range. This works the same when IP and villain doesn't bet OTT of course. It tends to work so well that in my games if I have a tough CBET decision I will often default to check given the EV of a DCBET is so high. I also then have a much more balanced checking range than most players which has the further advantage of exploiting the regs who auto bet v a check with all of their air but don't barrel a balanced range OTT/OTR. This is the part I am potentially going to sound very wrong lol: So this takes that concept a step or two further where we should begin taking our highest EV hands to make 2x overbets with and balance with say blockers to TPWK/draws which target spots where villain semi caps themselves to having TPWK, 2nd pair and weak draws that didn't bet the flop? The over bet is designed to make our higher EV hands extrapolate the maximum from villains continuing range which actually has a lot less EV than they expect? I know that in PIO we are looking at the highest EV way to play our hands and to then see the counter from a GTO perspective, but taking that into in a game scenario I imagine that my questions are what we are trying to do? The mistake villain will make will be to over call v our overbet given that our range that we overbet is so strong they should in fact over fold? Then with the rest of our range we can continue to exploit in a more "standard way" by betting say 65% 75% and getting a high enough fold frequency on each street to make our bluffs very profitable and mix in some value hands to further increase the EV of betting. Example would be BvB, flop comes K92 rb and the action goes x/x. We will have some frequency of KK 99 K9 KT+ hands in our checking range. Villain will most likely bet all K7+ combos, sets and two pairs and is left with 2nd pair, weak Kx, some GS and then a whole lot of air (in my games anyway lol). Therefore with all of our KT+, sets and two pair combos we can bet 2x pot to make weak Kx 9x and GS make a huge mistake by calling. We can mix in hands like 56 54 JT J8 that block weak Kx, 9x and GS combos. When villain calls we can still bluff these hands on the river with some frequency assuming we are correctly balanced OTR and that villain will remain mostly capped. I get that this is looking to exploit which isn't strictly what you are doing in your video, but this would be how to use this knowledge in game? Thanks again for your videos, sorry that was so long winded lol.
Hey Alvin great vid as always! What kind of rake are you referring to for those 1/3 live casino games. Just so I can get a rough calibration on whats reasonable vs whats killer. Thank you and keep up the great content
At 9:39 you said: "one of the big reasons why we should not be over betting as default is that when we check our opponent checks back all lower pairs that can turn the set". But it is not the reason because it is also true in the first example that the opponent checks back all lower pairs (and a lot of jacks) so it is not the main reason why we should not overbet on the second board. Could you quantify for us what is the reason why we generally don't overbet on the second board but we do on the first? Is it because there are more draws on the first board and also we check more on the first board on the flop?
You're taking it out of context. I'm saying those turns are not default ob candidates, and that there are generally some boards that have more ob candidate turns then others.
WOW you look exactly how I pictured you in my mind minus the hair. I pictured you with black hair short on the sides and low on top. Great video as always.
Alvin, did I understand you right, that you're folding pocket dueces to a single raise on the button 75% of the time? i play a small 1-3 game live where they take 7.00 max....5.00 drop and 2.00 promotion/jackpot. Would this apply to that game?
Hi Alvin, love the videos, keep 'em up! I have a question in regards to OOP's strategy and why it is the way it is. From a equity distribution and nut advantage perspective, equities run rather close, however OOP has approx 18 combos of 2p+ whereas IP only has like 6combos, suggesting that we should be checking a lot but the times that we do bet, we should use a larger sizing. So in a sense, i perceive this scenario similarly to if HJ opened, BB called and board came AK5, where preflop raiser can start polarising straight away (the strat would probably be check 40% of time, bet 60% of time for 2/3 for the IP player). My question is: Why can OOP not start polarising straight away on the flop with strong bluffs and hands that want to play for 3/4 streets of value? Could it have something to do with the fact that the board can change a lot by the river, bringing in a lot of straights and flushes for IP player, thus OOP capping himself on such runouts? Does the solver prefer to wait for a safer turn card on purpose so that it can start piling the money in knowing it's way ahead? Why does the solver prefer using 1/3 on the flop rather than 2/3? Looking forward to more videos!
loving your videos dude, only recently found your channel and I've been on a binge. I'm a little confused about the bet sizing when we do bet this flop. Pio is favoring the 1/3 bet over the bigger bet, but on a board like k84rb (from your oop cbet vid) you choose to bet 66% pot most of the time. Am i missing something really simple here ? I thought it would be the other way round.
While it's nice to see your face it's a little bit distracting when trying to pay attention to the Pio content... If the camera option is something you want to pursue then perhaps a sidebar or picture in picture graphical interface would be cleaner. Nevertheless appreciate the content!
Oooouu that's a possible option. Especially with all the phantom pixelation from the webcam software. Still learning this entire UA-cam thing. Thank you! ;)
I’m enjoying your videos but I’ve got some constructive criticism. I find *very* often with your videos that you’ll go off discussing (useful) tangents and then just jump back into ranges. Lots of times I’ve forgotten what the board was cause so if you could do a quick reminder it’d be really helpful. Also, I’m not sure that I heard it in this video but you very often talk about absolute bet sizes rather than relative to the pot - it’s super hard to see pot sizes on our phones.
Just a couple of minutes after a new Polk video I get a notification about this video.
THANK YOU!
As a big fan of the channel - I got to say - I really liked how engaging it was having you added into the visual! Thanks for all the great videos

It seems as though you have a clear misunderstanding of how to utilize charts.

Why would say u recommend piosolver instead of GTO+? What's the benefit of PIO over GTO+?
Wonderful content and also a couple of belly laughs......who could ask for more? Alvin you are so generous

Usually 2BB rake+ is killaaaaaaaaaa
What Kind of Piosolver do you recommend? Is „edge“ worth its Money? Or „pro“ also fulfills its purpose?
Hey ! big fan of your videos even tho for some reason i never suscribed until now! , short question how you make your piosolver to run so fast!
Looks like we have the same microphone. Insightful as always :)
Thanks AB!

I looked at resume of your course at overnight monster and couldn't find polarized betting IP and OOP. You don't have that in your course?

Yeah I generally told 22 on the button to raises. That game is definitely high rake.
Thank you for fast reply@@AlvinTeachesPoker
I would just fold all those hands to a raise 100% of the time in the games we play in
@@BreakoutShot You play in similar type of game?
David Freed yeah but I mean this applies to all games any regular person plays in

What do you think of 5% rake in the casino?
It really depends on the cap of the rake, how much they take in total.
@@AlvinTeachesPoker There is no cap. What would you do if this is tou only option?

I play 2/4 to 10/20 on private online club games and the biggest game running when I play live
