I followed your advice and changed out my upper burr assembly. It started grinding like new again. But don't throw away that old burr assembly. I was able to use small jewelers files and sharpened all the teeth on the burr assembly myself. It works like new again and will save you some money and you will have a backup burr assembly if needed.
My grinder wont work all of a sudden , coffee not grinding and its just jumping around between the burr and no grind is coming out under( i have my machine for lil over a year and we use the machine 2 to 3 times everyday) . I watched this video(and another related video), ordered new upper burr online at breville, I also bought separate breville grinder at best buy coz i can't wait for the burr, took the part from new grinder and tried in my machine and yes it's working now. The old part was dull. Now I have back up grinder. Maybe it's good to buy those parts ahead of time . When I just got the machine ,the motor broke coz there's a small rock in the coffee bean package. Now most of the time , I use hand picked pea-berry coffee beans and take time to check the beans before pouring in the hopper. Enjoy ur coffee everyone , and thanks for ur video.
My grind rate (excuse the phrase) has been about half what it should be for 2 years and a professional service didn't sort it out. Then it just started needing a burr clean every week other wise it would not pass any coffee through. This clip and a new upper burr for £21 solved it. A fast accurate grind and better, cleaner tasting coffee! Very good advice, thank you!!
Great looking shot!...My issue is I can't release the upper burr. Cleaned it, ran it 6-7 times diff grinder settings incl max course. More videos to watch.
This is great information. I thought my grinder was going out on my Barista Express, so I took it back to Best Buy and used my Geek Squad plan. They exchanged the whole thing and since I am a Total Tech member the geek squad plan was free as well. I guess if I make it past the Geek Squad plan I will at least know what to do. Thanks for all your videos, they have helped me A LOT!
Great video . I’ve had mine for less than a year and I need 2 cycles (sometimes 3) to fill the cup. Since it has a best buy warranty I might just get a new one. Replacing the upper burr every year seems like a design flaw or steel quality issue.
Hoon, what is funny I asked Breville customer service and they told me that you never need to replace the upper burr. I don’t think they own a barista PRO. It is only normal to have to replace the burr. Thanks for the video on this issue. You give me more confidence in what I think is going wrong
@@christopherranieriranieri9870 Mine is 4 year old and already had to adjust internal setting of upper burr down to 3 or 2 which lasted about half a year. After that time I cannot get a correct brewing pressure as water pours instantly (normally should be around 8 seconds). Helpline advised to do an agressive descaling which didn't help at all (maybe a water pump is less noisy but no improvement). Going to ring them asking what is the next step but in my opinion my upper burr is just worn.
Hi Hoon awesome videos. Would you recommend buying a separate grinder to use so that the built in grinder of this machine doesn't break from wear and tear? Thank you
So my grinder is accumulating the beans in top and getting clumped, grinded coffee not going past and keeps just building on top as well, I have to constantly take the upper burr, clean everything and start again with the same result, should I change the upper burr?
@@christopherranieriranieri9870 why does running it without beans cause a problem? My grinder lasted only three months from new before it had to be replaced. I do weigh in so if means I run it without beans for a moment or so each time I grind. This should surely not damage the grinder?
Maybe someone asked this already but I’m having this issue with my new Breville Barista Touch Pro. Is it possible the new upper burr that came with it was messed up from the factory? Shouldn’t have to switch a new burr.
Same here! I got my new Breville 878 5 days ago.... And it took 14 seconds to grind 8g powder only... It is too slow.... My grind size is 15 currently which should be moderate...
How often do you replace your burr inner and outer ? I have been having issues dialing in my espresso with my built in grinder. Have to use my other grinder to dial in. Any thoughts I would appreciate.
I have an issue with my grinder (my machine doesn't even have a year) and it's that everytime I make a coffee I have to go finer and finer like one day I get a nice extraction time on a numer 5 grind setting (with the external burs at 3 as my collegues at work recommend me to do) and next day it will go super fast so I have to ajust the grinder, so on until I go super fine. That is not normal and it didn't happend to me a couple months ago. Any thoughts?
@@fesperd yo! So after talking with customer service, they sent me a pack of Sage descalers and instructions for intense descaling (just to make sure it wasn't a limescale build up) and aparently it worked. I was able to go through a 250gr bag of coffee with no issues but, once I was half way through a second bag (same coffee, same roaster and at that point it was a no more than two weeks since it was roasted) the problem appeared again. So I called again asked if I could get a replacement and they said no but I could send it for free for a reparation bc it's been less than a year since I bought it so it's on warranty still. I just sent it today!
Thanks for your video! I would like to know if is possibile to use 7grams for single shot and 14grams for double shot despite the filters have a higher minimum range. For example the dual shot range is 19-21grans. Many thanks in advance for you input.
My Breville Smart Grinder Pro gas recently encountered one very weird problem. Prior to the problem, my grinder was at 13 to 14, inner upper burr was at 6. This setting has been like this for over a long period of time (since i use fresh beans of 1 week or less due to i roast my own beans). Out of sudden, the grinder needs to set at 4 or 5 in order to achieve the same brew ratio (1:2). Sent the grinder to service center for investigation, found nothing. They had replaced both inner burr (lower and upper burr assemblies), the problem is still exist. Now, i have to live with it. In case that If i want to make Ristretto which requires much finer ground, it would be difficult. I am suspecting the motor shaft wobbles or worn off. But, it is not possible to verify this. This grinder was less than 2 years old. Does anyone encounter this issue?
My grinder stopped working and I was very upset, thinking that the whole thing is heading to the garbage. Thanks to this video, I bought a new new upper burr on Breville's web site and now it is working again. I am a happy person again.
Mine did the same thing. Cleaned grinder and did a flush. Machine started leaking so I sent it back for warranty repair. Internal grinder was at 3 and when I got it back they said it was working fine. The internal grinder was set at 1! Can’t dial fine enough for dark roast beans.
Grinder by far is the weakest link in this model. I regret buying this model with an inbuilt grinder. My outer burr will sometimes set it self to 1 and it's only 1 year old with moderate use.
My barista PRO has just 5 months of house use and stopped grinding out of the blue... I have also a Breville barista express in My office with over 3 years old and works flawlessly .... Barista pro si just plain shit
Breville grinders are pathetic. My Barista express grinder went dull after just 18 months at an average of 1kg beans n month. Here in South africa, you have to buy the whole fucking grinder unit including the motor assembly just to get the burrs. Wish they would make them more durable.

Is there a big difference in flavor between the Barista Pro built-in grinder and the Niche Zero you have there?

Do you have any news on how to prevent the grinder from leaving so quickly?
So happy that I came across this video. Purchased a new upper burr and all is good again.
Hi. Can you please tell if there suppose to be a washer under the fan, apart from the felt washer?
Is it covered under its warranty if the grinder needs changing within a year ?
Gosh man we could get right to the point in a couple of minutes instead of 13..

Hoon, you should get the Linnea Mini and then charge people for coffee at your computer shop, lol.
how do you deal with inconsistant grinds, as i do notice that it doesnt always extract the same each time?
What is the name of the website where to buy a burr set? I understand Brava but can't find a coffee related site like this
