Erik is phenomenal! I found him on Dan Vasc's channel. They did a collab of "Breaking The Silence" (H.E.A.T cover). He co-wrote the song and is the original singer. Erik won Swedish Idol in 2009. He joined the rock band H.E.A.T as their lead singer in 2010. He left HEAT in 2020. He battled leukemia in 2021. He then joined Skid Row in 2022 and left in March of this year because touring was interfering with his health. Oh, and he is from Sweden.
He is a SOMEBODY. He is actually the former (recently) Lead Singer of Skid Row. He battled Cancer in 2020 and while in treatments he joined Skid Row and toured with them just a couple months later and was with the band about 3-4 years in total.
@@Kim-rf5et This WAS the lead singer of skid row for 3+ years. No not the original singer but was lead singer for 3 years. I have seen them with both singers and oddly enough 3 times each. I am not young at all BTW.
Erik’s bio from his website. Erik Grönwall is the Swedish rock and heavy metal singer, singer-songwriter and actor who started his career when he in December 2009 won the Swedish Idol reality television. His first single, “Higher”, sold gold on digital downloads after only three days and the first album, self-titled “Erik Grönwall”, was released just ten days after the finals and debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and was certified platinum. In 2010, he joined the rock band H.E.A.T as their lead singer and released four albums with the band. Altogether as a solo artist and band member, he has numerous top 40 hits. In 2018 he made his acting debut in America in the NBC live television concert production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar, in which he received a Grammy nomination. In March 2022 Grönwall announced that he would be joining American heavy metal band Skid Row as their new vocalist. Grönwall, known for his powerful voice, faced health challenges, including a diagnosis of leukemia in March 2021. However, during his time with the band, he contributed to the album “The Gang’s All Here,” released in October 2022, marking Skid Row’s return to the studio after sixteen years. He also toured with the band until the final show on March 22, 2024, After that, he prioritized his recovery, leading to his departure from Skid Row. After Erik’s full recovery it was announced that he will be releasing new music and tour with the legendary Michael Schenker.
As others write here. Erik won Swedish Idol, was lead singer in the band HEAT, and in Skid Row. But I can't see that anyone mentioned that Erik had a role in the musical "jesus christ superstar" a few years ago. Along with him were John Legend and Alice Cooper and more. They were nominated for a Grammy in the musical album of the year category.
@@JustMe-mp8on Whitney was impressive, her voice much prettier than Dolly's, but Dolly sang it the way it should be sung when someone says I'll always love you. This rock singer is good, but I don't like his interpretation, can't even finish watching.
Both Whitney and Erik’s version outshine Dolly’s. I’ll get a lot of flack, but I never cared for her most of her music. Jolene is my favorite song of hers and I’ve heard better versions of that too.
Loved your reaction. Erik is great! I prefer his version over the other's I have heard. He won the Swedish Idol show and then sang with the band H.E.A.T. He was stricken with leukemia and had to step back from performing for a while. He then joined Skid Row but recently left them to concentrate on his health. He has done a couple songs with Dan Vasc that are fire. (Breaking the Silence is available on UA-cam) I would recommend a Johnny Cash cover......God's Going to Cut You Down. He rocks it!
Oh WOW... he is fabulous!!!!! Erik is a fantastic singer... love the duet he and Dan Vasc did... they sound Great together! Like this better than either of the two ladies version. And the Sax instrumental ... love, love it.... always been a sucker for the sax player lol lol Loved your reaction!!!!! Thank you❤
Metal covers of other songs are the best, literally pick any song from any year and make it a metal version of it and it will always be better than the original 100%.
I miss your FACE Mr Boyd...!! 😭😭😅😅🙏🏼🙏🏼 BIGGER PIC OF YOU, PLEASE! Watching on my phone and I kind of have to guess your reaction.. Peace, much love and greetings from a proud Swede (Erik's swedish 😍)!
It’s Dollys song. She wrote it, and recorded it. She has maintained the rights to this song. Anyone else singing it, including Whitney is just a cover.
It is actually originally written and sung by the one and only and one of the greatest country singer song writers of all time, Dolly Parton. Don’t believe me, just search this song and Dolby Parton.
Linda Ronstadt actually did the arrangement on the version that Whitney did. Linda stuck to the plaintive nature of the song(this was written about a friend of Dolly's), but arranged in a way that was more suited to her own voice. So, Whitney did Linda's version, only made it an anthem.
Whitney butchered it! Her version is the worst song Whitney ever did and the only Whitney song that I deliberately avoid at all costs. Dolly’s version is the best, and this version is the second best.
Everyone is allowed to prefer which ever version of a song they listen to,what isn't right is when someone tells them they MUST like a certain one! Dolly's was way more personal and Eric's was phenomenal
C'est juste la version de So Hyang en extérieur avec moins de nuances et de sensibilité. Et elle, c'est un vrai direct sans filtre sur la voix. ua-cam.com/video/DO845EqU3eE/v-deo.html
I love Erik Grönwall, but the only one who can sing this song properly is Dolly Parton herself. It’s way better than Whitney’s version, though; Whitney butchered it. Erik does it justice, but it’s still Dolly’s song alone, especially if you know the story behind why she wrote it. I’ll listen to this version again, but I will never ever listen to Whitney’s ever again. Erik was lead singer of H.E.A.T and then Skid Row. However, he made the difficult decision to leave because it was too hard on his health; he had a bone marrow transplant for cancer two years ago. Check out his cover of Breaking The Silence with Dan Vasc on Dan’s channel. Nice reaction!

Sebastian Bach who?
@Rix.67 the original skid row singer from the 80's. Sebastion Bach is one of the best male vocalist ever.
This is not Sebastian Bach how young are you people? This is not the lead singer of skid row

This song was written by Dolly Parton for the movie Best Little Whore House in Texas.
Dolly Parton wrote this song she originally sung it ,then Linda Ronstadt recorded it. Whitney Houston didn't originally record it.
