Human body is not a single organism. It's the complex of different organisms. Even though the body gets the death, the organelles inside the cells ( some are considered to be non existent in the eukaryotic cell like the mitochondria ) are considered to be separate organisms. As these organelles are considered to be power house of the cells. If we focus a little bit more we can find out this could be a cause for the cells to express genes by using the left over energy of the cell to express these genes. Probably someone will conclude this later. Don't worry for now.

"Human body is not a single organism." interesting choice of words. Got me thinking. We don't always know what is happening in our body or our mind. In fact rarely ever. The organisms and mechanisms that seem to make choices for us that we didn't decide upon. Such as breathing, healing, etc, but glad that they happen. Often our consciousness is getting temporarily shutdown to go in sleep. So the majority of our life we become aware of our existences, so who, or what becomes in control of our body when we sleep I wonder. Who decides my toss n' turns while I lay in bed unconscious.

There is an old Hungarian proverb which says:,,Nem a remény hal meg utoljára, hanem a sejtszintű enzimműködés,, which means: ,,Not hope dies last, but the cellular level enzyme activity,, ;)

that is a proverb said by old hungarians. old hungarian proverbs are about getting off the train at the same station.

How about some form of kin selection? Those related to the deceased would fair better if the corpse was less petulant. Of course, such selection would have had to take place before we developed burial practices, likely well before homosapiens even split from our ancestors.

I think we don't understand death at all. I am doing complete metagenomics of mice gut microbiota now (different age groups), and I have got some ideas regarding the death.. the control of microorganisms and artificial life support systems.
I want to try making them as much sterile (from microbes) as it is possible and keep them on artificial life support to see how those genes actually express themselves. Sterilization is for keeping the organism from rotting, the life support is for the neurons to stay as much alive as it is possible...

I used to be normal but I'm 30 now and in the past 10 years so much horrible things happened that I started to get scared of how strange life and death is. Everything is strange here sex, porn, love, mating, weird. People and animals I'm afraid. I'm afraid of my family, I'm afraid of my daughter, I'm afraid especially of my boyfriend. Life gets stranger everyday I live and I don't know why I'm getting more and more scared of life as I live on. My dad died in 2020 and I was traumatized and then I discovered my boyfriend the only real support I had left was watching porn behind my back (even though I was having crazy wild sex with him while mourning my dad just because I didn't want him to watch porn) why are females monogamous in their mind (if they choose to be) but men can't? Why do men have a hot freaky girl and still want more? I want to die but even that is strange. I'm sorry this video totally triggered me...

This might seem cliché but are you a spiritual person? I'm a Muslim and what we are taught is that if your heart is attached to any created being it will suffer. Only if your heart is attached to the Maker of All can the heart find rest.

Could the expression of these genes affect the course of decomposition? This would have consequences for kin that might come into contact with the corpse. For example, helping create odors that would drive relatives away and so protect them from contagions.

Newest findings saying there is a second code hiding within DNA which
instructs cells on how genes are controlled.
The electron clouds of nucleic acids in DNA as a chain of coupled quantum harmonic oscillators with dipole-dipole interaction. From the standpoint of physics, there is one essential difference between living things and inanimate clumps of carbon atoms.

I can't imagine how cells continue to do something without being provided anymore with oxygen.

turtle & goldfish can survive oxygen depletion for a considerable time. Some animal evolve to be able to survive under a frozen lake which isn't exposed to air until winter season ends. There're actually even organism which don't require oxygen at all like bacteria inside your gut and organism which exist at the beginning of Earth history where oxygenated air don't exist yet.

Clearly, trying to explain things according to the evolutionary paradigm doesn't work.

If more genes - preferably all genes - acted like this, 'in concert'... maybe - juuust maybe - that could 'unlock the secret of eternal life'? P.S. Would it really be so strange, transplants come with an increased risk in cancer development? The immune system cannot respond effectively in those cases, no?
