The market is crazy right now. We recently bought land in Florida for a future vacation home and somewhere for my parents to retire and it took over a month for everything to go through for it. We literally signed for it and paid for the land and turns out it was a divorced couple selling it and the ex wife was refusing to do the last signing even though they signed to sell the land and everything and it was super stressful and we almost had to get lawyers involved since the land was technically ours at that point. Everything finally went through luckily but it was really stressful because we didn’t want to lose that plot of land and we had already flew down to Florida to see the land and check out the area.

So many flashbacks watching the intro here. I'm also a maker, and have so many things a mover wouldn't know what to do with, like a home distillation kit, which is all glass beakers (just curious to learn about the process), and lots of bulky, often kinda fragile, or "you have to know where to pick it up," etc., things. I also spent 2 years looking for my house, and I think I saw between 60 and 100 homes. I was going out most weekends with the realtor to see anywhere from 2 to 5+ homes per trip, trying to find a large garage in which I could set up my sprawling hobbyist woodshop (space is tight in LA, and often you can't fit 2 cars in their idea of a "2 car garage"). I ended up needing 3 moving companies - 1 for all the house stuff, 1 for all the woodshop machinery, and 1 just for all the wood, including many trees' worth of large logs (heaviest one was 240lbs). The whole move took a couple of months (so many car trips with odd maker things stuffed in it), and I was paying both rent and mortgage for about 3. Then work deadlines ramped up hard (games industry), so for weeks I wasn't able to do any moving, while half moved in to the new place, sleeping at the old one. I never want to do all of that again, especially as that was 10 years ago, and now I'm old and tired.

Good luck packing for your move! As someone who just helped with my grandmas move about a month and a half ago, I recommend asking for any boxes you can use from either farmer’s markets (banana boxes are usually what they will give you here), using any boxes you get when you make purchases online, as well as if you ask some employees at your local liquor store, they usually will have many of these set aside for recycle day. (Most of these options, minus the boxes from ordering items online, they will give you these boxes for free. Use lots of bubble wrap, rags, or anything else you can to cushion your breakable items (and sometimes even non breakable considering dented metal does not look pleasing to the eye)
We lost a house last month. We had 2 extensions and the bank wanted a 3rd and the sellers wanted a non-refundable deposit to keep it. We were already too tight. We are supposed to close on another next month- but all our financing, etc. was approved and is done on this one. When we bought the house we're in now, we slept on an inflatable mattress the first night. I was 7mo pregnant, there was a rare cold snap where it got down to 29 degrees (in FL) and we didn't know how to work the heat so we huddled in a pile shivering and dozing until it was light enough to start our day.
Compared to your usual maker's videos, this could have been tedious to watch, but wow guys!! This was utterly compulsive viewing! You are both natural entertainers as well as skilled crafters! The mix of Evan's over-confidence vs Katelyn's practical reality (Evan's words vs Katelyn's facial expressions) was just sublime to watch! The chemistry between you two is is so powerful. I can't wait for part 2 and I'm sure you guys will make it just as entertaining for us all. Big hugs, Louie from England, UK Xx
Ah house hunting, we saw many houses and ended up with the one that had the largest yard that was fenced in bc of our dogs. XD a fixer upper definitely, but the yard was a thing of beauty.
So chaotic! I've moved many times and I can't tell you how much I prefer to have a good month-long overlap between places so that I can coordinate the move. It's just so much smoother with the buffer time. I like to have everything but the essentials boxed-up, labeled and color-coded before the movers even arrive. I also like to move the delicate things separately, but I save them for last.
E & K : "We're gonna move this ourselves bc we dont trust other humans not to break our stuff." Table : *breaks* Katelyn : "We should have let other people be at fault for this."
Just bought my first house. It was incredibly stressful/emotional! But now we’re in our new home with boxes everywhere and It took me an hour to find my underwear. So yay moving!!!
E: It's already feeling weird. K: It's Weird. E/K: Let's get weirder! ..... *gets into new house, does weird arm dance.* Me- Welp, they don't disappoint!
Yay! It's been so great following the process through Patreon and I'm so happy that you found a better and bigger new place for all your future projects and endeavors! Can't wait for part two of the moving vlog :D
I love how E&K show the bad things that also happened and it kinda just shows everyone that bad thing can and will eventually happen, but everything will eventually be fine.

"We broke it!" What's this "we?" Evan broke it. Then Evan broke it more.
They were in agreement. That's how marriage works. They both participated in breaking it. Lol

Big hugs,
Louie from England, UK
Xx
Ah house hunting, we saw many houses and ended up with the one that had the largest yard that was fenced in bc of our dogs. XD a fixer upper definitely, but the yard was a thing of beauty.
So chaotic! I've moved many times and I can't tell you how much I prefer to have a good month-long overlap between places so that I can coordinate the move. It's just so much smoother with the buffer time. I like to have everything but the essentials boxed-up, labeled and color-coded before the movers even arrive. I also like to move the delicate things separately, but I save them for last.
gotta admit i loved seeing Evan with unusannus merch on!
7:15 Katelyn interacting with this kid is the most cutest thing for me
E & K : "We're gonna move this ourselves bc we dont trust other humans not to break our stuff."
Table : *breaks*
Katelyn : "We should have let other people be at fault for this."
Oh my god, Memento Mori, guys! I didn’t know you were one of us!
I've just scrolled through so many comments to see if anyone else noticed the UA merch! xD
We're all here, just hiding in the shadows of the comment section.
One of us! One of us!
Ah, here we are! Memento Mori, friends! So cool to see you all!
Good to see you all again after all this time :)
Just bought my first house. It was incredibly stressful/emotional! But now we’re in our new home with boxes everywhere and It took me an hour to find my underwear. So yay moving!!!
I love the fact the Evan is wearing UA merch it makes my heart happy
“I’m sorry Floodle, this is for your own good”
*suffocates cloud*
E: It's already feeling weird.
K: It's Weird.
E/K: Let's get weirder!
..... *gets into new house, does weird arm dance.*
Me- Welp, they don't disappoint!
weird arm dances for life!
@@EvanAndKatelyn Heck yeah! *wobbles arms*
It’s also a (very) slight nod to moving closer to Austin in a way. They’re getting closer to the weird.
Congratulations guys!! Can't wait to see what you do in your new house!!
Yay! It's been so great following the process through Patreon and I'm so happy that you found a better and bigger new place for all your future projects and endeavors! Can't wait for part two of the moving vlog :D
I feel like Katelyn would be a great mom.
Congrats! Laying on the floor seems like the appropriate thing to do. Good job!
I love how E&K show the bad things that also happened and it kinda just shows everyone that bad thing can and will eventually happen, but everything will eventually be fine.
In Russia we have proverb: "Two movings is equal one fire".
Oh my gosh!!! We had issues with our closing process too! It took a month longer that it was supposed to and we had to live in my parents front room for that month because we had to be out of our apartment. It really breaks your spirits...
11:00 I work as a home loan processor and even for us it’s super frustrating when the loan needs corrections or just the effing appraisal!
3:49 Evan: "We're going on an adventure..."
Katelyn thinking: "An adventure of destructive chaos??!!"
I love that painting, the one with all the little squares.
you two laying on the floor was genuinely so precious, i could feel the excited good energy of being in the new house i’m so happy for you both 💖💖💖
I am working on setting up an OBS system and your equipment page was a great reference for streaming equipment. I am excited to see your new house and the great products you create to make is a home.
omg we just bought our first house this year. and I TOTALLY understand the roller coster of emotions!! so many house, so many bids, then the house we finally got accepted on, during closing, a day before our date we got that call and couldnt close until the following week!.
