Superba l'esecuzione dell'aria di Seymour: la Horne è elegantissima, patetica e precisa come una spada - al solito!. La direzione di Varviso è buona: il resto del cast dell'edizione piacevolissimo, anche se (giustificabili) riserve possono essere avanzate all'Anna Bolena della Souliotis.
Beautiful, even stupendous--but not as moving as Simionato in 1957. It has to do with the stress on certain rhythmic notes, and with Horn's interpretation. Here Giovanna is a bit meek and sweet--a standard portrayal--despite the incredible coloratura. For Simionato Seymore is stronger--and thus more complex. And Simionato's accents on certain beats makes for over-the-top excitement that as never been equalled, in my opinion.
A wonderful rendition of this aria and caballetta, with lots of ornamentation and beautifully sung.
