    Mark 7:1-13 (ESV)
    Traditions and Commandments
1 Now when the Pharisees gathered to him, with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem, 2 they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly,[a] holding to the tradition of the elders, 4 and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash.[b] And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches.[c]) 5 And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” 6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,
“‘This people honors me with their lips,
    but their heart is far from me;
7 in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”
9 And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)[d]- 12 then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, 13 thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
    Footnotes
    a. Mark 7:3 Greek unless they wash the hands with a fist, probably indicating a kind of ceremonial washing
    b. Mark 7:4 Greek unless they baptize; some manuscripts unless they purify themselves
    c. Mark 7:4 Some manuscripts omit and dining couches
    d. Mark 7: 11 Or an offering

Pastor Daniel, thank you for these teachings on the Catholic Church. Praise the Lord for using you as a minister of truth. I’m a former catholic that got deceived into the new age as a young person when I realized Catholicism was wrong. God was faithful and saved me. The RCC clearly states that the Eucharistic sacrifice is one and the same as the sacrifice of the cross. Their official view goes way beyond celebrating the memory of Jesus’ sacrifice.
“the holy sacrifice of the Eucharist,” (CCC, 1055) and “the Eucharist is also a sacrifice,” (CCC, 1365).
“For it is in the liturgy, especially in the divine sacrifice of the Eucharist, that “the work of our redemption is accomplished,” (CCC, 1068).
“The Eucharist is thus a sacrifice because it re-presents (makes present) the sacrifice of the cross,” (CCC, 1366)
“The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice,” (CCC, 1367).
“And since in this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner,” (CCC, 1367).
It removes the wrath of God: ” . . . this sacrifice is truly propitiatory,” (CCC, 1367).
      “If any one saith, that the sacrifice of the mass is only a sacrifice of praise and of thanksgiving; or, that it is a bare commemoration of the sacrifice consummated on the cross, but not a propitiatory sacrifice; or, that it profits him only who receives; and that it ought not to be offered for the living and the dead for sins, pains, satisfactions, and other necessities; let him be anathema.” (Trent: On the Sacrifice of the Mass: Canon 3);
“The sacrifice of Christ the only Mediator, which in the Eucharist is offered through the priests’ hands,” (CCC, 1369).
“As sacrifice, the Eucharist is also offered in reparation for the sins of the living and the dead,” (CCC, 1414).
“The Church intends the Mass to be regarded as a ‘true and proper sacrifice,'” (The Catholic Encyclopedia, topic: “Sacrifice of the Mass”).
      Scriptures on the Last Supper:
I’m just highlighting passages from John 6 where Jesus makes it clear He was using symbolic language, not literal.
32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life.
      Purgatory
Rev. 21:27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Believers are cleansed from sin when they become born again. To say we must suffer for our own sins in purgatory is really saying that Christ’s atonement was not sufficient.
Hebrews 7:27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself.
John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
2 Tim. 1:18 One prayer for one man, not a doctrine. It could mean a number of things, but it is not a proof text for purgatory.
Matt 5:25-26 A reminder that eternal suffering is permanent, not a proof text for purgatory.
Luke 23:43 “Today you will be with me in Paradise” - yes, the thief went directly to Paradise, not purgatory.
1 Cor 3:11-15 This Scripture refers to works, not our souls. We will receive rewards if our works are of good quality, and they will pass through the fire unharmed. Poor quality works will be consumed by fire, and there will be no reward, but we will not lose our salvation. It doesn’t say believers will pass through fire, but that their works will pass through the fire.
Hebrews 12:29 God will consume with fire, or judge, all those who disobey Him. This is not about purgatory. Deut 9:3 Know therefore today that he who goes over before you as a consuming fire is the Lord your God. He will destroy them and subdue them before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as the Lord has promised you.
Genesis 3:24 This is not a proof text for purgatory. This is the literal consequence of Adam and Eve being exiled from the Garden of Eden.
Mary was not sinless, and there is no text to prove that - Jesus Christ is the only human who was ever sinless. 2 Cor 5:21, 1 John 3:5, 1 Peter 1:19.
Every human without exception inherits a sin nature: Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:8-10
Jesus honored his earthly mother, but did not put her above any other human being: But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.” Luke 8:21
Mary said that she needed a savior. Only sinners need saviors. Luke 1:28
Mary died the same death we all do. There is no text that states she was assumed. She could not have been assumed, because we will not be resurrected until Christ returns. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Cor 15:50-58.
Rosary: Mary was a blessed woman, but that does not prove that we should pray to her or pray the rosary. “Hail” is a greeting, and does not prove that Mary should be venerated as a saint. God chose Mary to carry the human Jesus in her womb, and she was the mother of Jesus, not the mother of God. God has no mother since He is our Creator.
Praying to Mary and departed saints:1 Thess 5:25, 1 Tim 2:1, James 5:16, 1 Pet 3:12, 6:18 Nothing about praying to departed people.
Christians believe that souls are eternal, and that they will either go to heaven or hell. There is no purgatory.
Praying for the souls of the departed: 2 Maccabees - not a valid inspired Scripture; 2 Tim 1:16-18, Acts 9:36-41, John 11:41-43; Does not prove we can pray for the dead.
Luke 16 V 26 “Between us and you a great chasm has been set, so that those who want to go over from here to you will not be able, or will any people cross over from there to us.” V30-31 But he said, “No, father, Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.” But he said to him, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.” - these verses do not prove we can pray to the dead. Death is obviously final, and no one can be prayed for after they’ve left this earth.
Jeremiah 15:1 Doesn’t prove we can pray for departed souls.
Heb 12:1 Great cloud of witnesses - is referring to Hebrews 11, in which the author was recounting those who had been faithful witnesses to God’s truth. It does not prove we can pray for them.
Matt 27:46-50 - Doesn’t prove we can pray to departed souls or that Elijah was going to appear. Elijah is at home with the Lord and cannot communicate with us. Onlookers simply misunderstood what Jesus was saying.
Rev. 6:9-10 Those souls in Heaven were speaking to God. Does not prove we should or can pray for them, or that they can pray for us.

@@Maranatha7557 Heb. 13:10 says (ESV): "We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat." "we" refers to first person plural that includes the person who wrote Hebrews. The word altar is related to sacrifice and sacrifice is related to priests - those three always come together. Following the Reformers you replace altar with pulpit, sacrifice with sermon and priests with pastors. The Scriptural basis of priests, sacrifice of the Mass are shown below:
According to Heb. 10:1 the Law (of Moses) is a shadow of the good things to come instead of their true forms. The Law has general priesthood of all Israelites (Exod. 19:6), Levitical priesthood (male descendants of Aaron) and High Priests (chosen among Levitical priests, one at a time). The New Covenant, that came through Christ, has general priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5, Rev. 1:6). Christ is the only High Priest of the New Covenant of order of Melchizedek (Heb. 5:5, 8:1). How about Levitical priests? Following the Reformers, you assume Levitical priesthood was abolished with the coming of Christ. But is this true? When God established Levitical priesthood, He declared it to be perpetual (Exodus 40:15). Numbers 18:19 applies “covenant of salt” to this priesthood, which means it will last forever as salt is used to preserve food. Covenant of salt appears twice in OT and the second one is applied to kingship of David and his descendants through Solomon in 2 Chronicles 13:5, which is based on God’s promise to David (2 Samuel 7:12-13) - God will establish his throne through Solomon forever. The perpetuity of both Davidic kingship and Levitical priesthood were later reaffirmed by prophet Jeremiah in dual prophecy in Jer. 33:17-18. The first was fulfilled in Christ (Luke 1:32-33) and the second one is fulfilled in Levitical priests of the New Covenant who are the Catholic priests. Another prophecy in Isaiah 66:21 says that God will take as priests and levites from all the nations, or they no longer have to be Jewish. Levitical priests of Judaism cannot fulfill Jer. 33:18 - without their Jerusalem Temple they are no longer able to offer any sacrifice and/or all types of offerings as prescribed in OT (Lev. 1 to 7). Christ Himself put an end to Old Testament sacrifice and offerings according to Heb. 10:9-10 by His own Sacrifice on the cross, once for all. What kind of sacrifice offered by New Covenant Levitical priests? Remember that priests without sacrifice are not priests!
New Covenant levitical priests make present the same sacrifice Christ made on the cross in every Mass. To understand it we need to refer to Rev. 13::8 that refers Christ as the Lamb slain before/from the foundation of the world. The Greek verb "slain" is in Greek passive perfect tense. Unlike that of English Greek perfect tense indicates the action described by the verb (to be slain) was completed in the past with continuing effect to the present. For comparison the phrase "it is written", referring to Scripture, is also in Greek passive perfect tense. Scripture was completely written in the past and remains written ever since. Whenever you buy a new Bible in any language, Scripture is REPRINTED but it is NOT REWRITTEN. From what Christ told Mary Magdalene after His resurrection we know that He did not ascend to God the Father (who is) in heaven after He died on the cross (John 20:17). This meant He did not offer Himself in heavenly sanctuary (Hebrews 8:5, 9: 11) after crucifixion. The reason is: He already did it before the foundation of the world after being slain (Rev. 13:8), which is even stated in Heb. 9:26 where the phrase “from the foundation of the world” is also mentioned. The above should explain why Catholics believe His Sacrifice on the cross can be made present in every Mass and that is why we have priests and altar. Christ is not re-sacrificed in every Mass, just like Scripture is NOT rewritten whenever you buy a new Bible in any language.
In the first three Gospels Christ instituted the Eucharist in the Last Supper. The Last Supper was a Jewish Passover Meal, and it is a sacrificial meal, not just a memorial meal. It is a sacrificial meal because the Jews consumed sacrificed Passover Lamb. According to 1 Cor. 5:7 Christ is our Passover Lamb, having been slain from the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8). We literally consume Christ, the Passover Lamb of the New Covenant in order to become partakers of His Divine Nature (2 Pe. 1:4)

Russian Orthodox Christian here, we separated from the Catholic church in 1054 known as the East-West Schism due to a few heresies, mainly the bishop of Rome's claim to universal jurisdiction. However, regarding the Eucharist, prior to partaking in the Eucharist (Lord's Supper), there is fasting, and repentance. You are told not to take of the Eucharist if you are not truly repentant because as it states in 1 Corinthians 30 "that is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died."
1Corinthians 11: 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for[b] you. Do this in remembrance of me.”[c] 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.[d] 31 But if we judged[e] ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined[f] so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
As you can see this was an important and frequent practice done by the original church, so why do you disagree? You have misunderstood the reasoning for this. It is not if you solely partake of the Eucharist that you are saved, but it is a practice of remembrance and proclamation of the Lord's sacrifice - salvation. It is a necessary step to dive further into living of the spirit and not of the flesh. That is why when you partake of the Eucharist you do not see it as simply juice and a cracker, but the actual blood and body of Christ. Just as Christ had to wash the feet of his disciples, HE was not simply cleansing their feet of dirt, but sending a powerful message that reverberated into the spiritual realm, that only the LORD Jesus Christ can cleanse us of our sins.
To deny the Eucharist is to deny the Trinity. God bless you, brother. You can see the work of the devil began immediately in the church when there were factions within the church, different beliefs began popping up, and everyone thought they understood better than the apostles. It has continued on till this day. I pray this deception will once and for all uplift away from us.

I would like to share verses that will help you understand. John 4 :24 mentions God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth. John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another helper, that he may abide with you forever- the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; but you know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. Luke 17:20-21. Now he was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them and said, “the kingdom of God does not come with observations; 21 Nor will they say , “see here! ‘ or ‘ see there! ‘ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” John 4:23. But the time is coming - indeed it’s here now - when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. John 6:63. It’s the spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit , and they are life

John 6:4,11-14 - on the eve of the Passover, Jesus performs the miracle of multiplying the loaves. This was prophesied in the Old Testament (e.g., 2 Kings4:43), and foreshadows the infinite heavenly bread which is Him....
Matt. 14:19, 15:36; Mark 6:41, 8:6; Luke 9:16 - these passages are additional accounts of the multiplication miracles. This points to the Eucharist.
Matt. 16:12 - in this verse, Jesus explains His metaphorical use of the term "bread." In John 6, He eliminates any metaphorical possibilities.
John 6:4 - Jesus is in Capernaum on the eve of Passover, and the lambs are gathered to be slaughtered and eaten. Look what He says.
John 6:35,41,48,51 - Jesus says four times "I AM the bread from heaven." It is He, Himself, the eternal bread from heaven.
John 6:27,31,49 - there is a parallel between the manna in the desert which was physically consumed, and this "new" bread which must be consumed.
John 6:51-52- then Jesus says that the bread He is referring to is His flesh. The Jews take Him literally and immediately question such a teaching. How can this man give us His flesh to eat?
John 6:53 - 58 - Jesus does not correct their literal interpretation. Instead, Jesus eliminates any metaphorical interpretations by swearing an oath and being even more literal about eating His flesh. In fact, Jesus says four times we must eat His flesh and drink His blood. Catholics thus believe that Jesus makes present His body and blood in the sacrifice of the Mass. Protestants, if they are not going to become Catholic, can only argue that Jesus was somehow speaking symbolically.
John 6:23-53 - however, a symbolic interpretation is not plausible. Throughout these verses, the Greek text uses the word "phago" nine times. "Phago" literally means "to eat" or "physically consume." Like the Protestants of our day, the disciples take issue with Jesus' literal usage of "eat." So Jesus does what?
John 6:54, 56, 57, 58 - He uses an even more literal verb, translated as "trogo," which means to gnaw or chew or crunch. He increases the literalness and drives his message home. Jesus will literally give us His flesh and blood to eat. The word “trogo” is only used two other times in the New Testament (in Matt. 24:38 and John 13:18) and it always means to literally gnaw or chew meat. While “phago” might also have a spiritual application, "trogo" is never used metaphorically in Greek. So Protestants cannot find one verse in Scripture where "trogo" is used symbolically, and yet this must be their argument if they are going to deny the Catholic understanding of Jesus' words. Moreover, the Jews already knew Jesus was speaking literally even before Jesus used the word “trogo” when they said “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” (John 6:52).
John 6:55 - to clarify further, Jesus says "For My Flesh is food indeed, and My Blood is drink indeed." This phrase can only be understood as being responsive to those who do not believe that Jesus' flesh is food indeed, and His blood is drink indeed. Further, Jesus uses the word which is translated as "sarx." "Sarx" means flesh (not "soma" which means body). See, for example, John 1:13,14; 3:6; 8:15; 17:2; Matt. 16:17; 19:5; 24:22; 26:41; Mark 10:8; 13:20; 14:38; and Luke 3:6; 24:39 which provides other examples in Scripture where "sarx" means flesh. It is always literal.
John 6:55 - further, the phrases "real" food and "real" drink use the word "alethes." "Alethes" means "really" or "truly," and would only be used if there were doubts concerning the reality of Jesus' flesh and blood as being food and drink. Thus, Jesus is emphasizing the miracle of His body and blood being actual food and drink.
John 6:60 - as are many anti-Catholics today, Jesus' disciples are scandalized by these words. They even ask, "Who can 'listen' to it (much less understand it)?" To the unillumined mind, it seems grotesque.
John 6:61-63 - Jesus acknowledges their disgust. Jesus' use of the phrase "the spirit gives life" means the disciples need supernatural faith, not logic, to understand His words.
John 3:6 - Jesus often used the comparison of "spirit versus flesh" to teach about the necessity of possessing supernatural faith versus a natural understanding. In Mark 14:38 Jesus also uses the "spirit/flesh" comparison. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. We must go beyond the natural to understand the supernatural. In 1 Cor. 2:14,3:3; Rom 8:5; and Gal. 5:17, Paul also uses the "spirit/flesh" comparison to teach that unspiritual people are not receiving the gift of faith. They are still "in the flesh."
John 6:63 - Protestants often argue that Jesus' use of the phrase "the spirit gives life" shows that Jesus was only speaking symbolically. However, Protestants must explain why there is not one place in Scripture where "spirit" means "symbolic." As we have seen, the use of "spirit" relates to supernatural faith. What words are spirit and life? The words that we must eat Jesus' flesh and drink His blood, or we have no life in us.
John 6:66-67 - many disciples leave Jesus, rejecting this literal interpretation that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood. At this point, these disciples really thought Jesus had lost His mind. If they were wrong about the literal interpretation, why wouldn't Jesus, the Great Teacher, have corrected them? Why didn't Jesus say, "Hey, come back here, I was only speaking symbolically!"? Because they understood correctly.
Mark 4:34 - Jesus always explained to His disciples the real meanings of His teachings. He never would have let them go away with a false impression, most especially in regard to a question about eternal salvation.
John 6:37 - Jesus says He would not drive those away from Him. They understood Him correctly but would not believe.
John 3:5,11; Matt. 16:11-12 - here are some examples of Jesus correcting wrong impressions of His teaching. In the Eucharistic discourse, Jesus does not correct the scandalized disciples.
John 6:64,70 - Jesus ties the disbelief in the Real Presence of His Body and Blood in the Eucharist to Judas' betrayal. Those who don't believe in this miracle betray Him.
Psalm 27:2; Isa. 9:20; 49:26; Mic. 3:3; 2 Sam. 23:17; Rev. 16:6; 17:6, 16 - to further dispense with the Protestant claim that Jesus was only speaking symbolically, these verses demonstrate that symbolically eating body and blood is always used in a negative context of a physical assault. It always means “destroying an enemy,” not becoming intimately close with him. Thus, if Jesus were speaking symbolically in John 6:51-58, He would be saying to us, "He who reviles or assaults me has eternal life." This, of course, is absurd.
John 10:7 - Protestants point out that Jesus did speak metaphorically about Himself in other places in Scripture. For example, here Jesus says, "I am the door." But in this case, no one asked Jesus if He was literally made of wood. They understood him metaphorically.
John 15:1,5 - here is another example, where Jesus says, "I am the vine." Again, no one asked Jesus if He was literally a vine. In John 6, Jesus' disciples did ask about His literal speech (that this bread was His flesh which must be eaten). He confirmed that His flesh and blood were food and drink indeed. Many disciples understood Him and left Him.
Matt. 26:29; Mark 14:25; Luke 22:18 - Jesus says He will not drink of the “fruit of the vine” until He drinks it new in the kingdom. Some Protestants try to use this verse (because Jesus said “fruit of the vine”) to prove the wine cannot be His blood. But the Greek word for fruit is “genneema” which literally means “that which is generated from the vine.” In John 15:1,5 Jesus says “I am the vine.” So “fruit of the vine” can also mean Jesus’ blood. In 1 Cor. 11:26-27, Paul also used “bread” and “the body of the Lord” interchangeably in the same sentence. Also, see Matt. 3:7;12:34;23:33 for examples were “genneema” means “birth” or “generation.”
Rom. 14:14-18; 1 Cor. 8:1-13; 1 Tim. 4:3 - Protestants often argue that drinking blood and eating certain sacrificed meats were prohibited in the New Testament, so Jesus would have never commanded us to consume His body and blood. But these verses prove them wrong, showing that Paul taught all foods, even meat offered to idols, strangled, or with blood, could be consumed by the Christian if it didn’t bother the brother’s conscience and were consumed with thanksgiving to God.
Matt. 18:2-5 - Jesus says we must become like children, or we will not enter the kingdom of God. We must believe Jesus' words with child-like faith. Because Jesus says this bread is His flesh, we believe by faith, even though it surpasses our understanding.
Luke 1:37 - with God, nothing is impossible. If we can believe in the incredible reality of the Incarnation, we can certainly believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. God coming to us in elements He created is an extension of the awesome mystery

he Catholic Church describes the Eucharist, i.e., the Sacrifice of the Mass, as “the source and summit of the Christian life” (CCC 1324). It’s the source, because the Eucharist enables us to make present and offer anew Jesus Christ’s one redemptive Sacrifice of Calvary, which began with his Passion (CCC 1362-68; 1341). It’s the summit, because the Eucharist is truly a foretaste of heaven, in which we partake of Jesus’ body and blood as heaven and earth become most profoundly one.....
The Eucharist is a communion sacrifice, which means we partake of Jesus in a way similar to how the ancient Israelites ate the flesh of the Old Covenant Passover lambs. But the New Covenant Passover is much more profound, for there is only one Lamb-the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29, 35-36)-and eating Jesus’ body and drinking his blood provides eternal life, not simply emancipation from a mere human and earthly oppressor, i.e., Egypt (John 6:52-59; see 1 Cor. 13:23-34).
Forty days after his Resurrection from the dead, Jesus ascends in triumph to heaven, taking his seat at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:50-52; Acts 1:6-11). In doing so, Jesus culminates his one Sacrifice of Calvary in everlasting glory, fulfilling also the Old Covenant Day of Atonement/Yom Kippur sacrifices (see Lev. 16). That’s because Jesus takes not the blood of goats and calves but his own, and he enters into the heavenly sanctuary, not one made by human hands (Heb. 9:11-14). So Jesus is the high priest of heaven (Heb. 8:1-3; CCC 662-64; 1137-39), and he always lives to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:23-25; 8:1-3; 9:23-24), which means the Eucharistic Sacrifice has continuing atoning power for the sins we commit daily (CCC 1366).
Jesus’ one Sacrifice is made sacramentally present and offered anew at every Mass according to the order of Melchizedek, i.e., under the forms of bread and wine (Gen. 14:18-20; Heb. 5:7-10; Matt. 26:26-29; Luke 22:19-20; see CCC 1333; 1355; 1544). Consequently, the words of the Lord’s Prayer-“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”-are nowhere more profoundly fulfilled than in the Mass, because heaven and earth are united in a most perfect way that further fosters the Redemption of mankind!

    1 Corinthians 11 :20-34
When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper. ..
For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
The Sacrifice of God is past, present and future! It is eternal because it is outside of space and time. The sacrifice by Christ dying and suffering was done in space and time 2000 years ago, when Christ (God) chose to became man (incarnate), this is when He went inside space and time. The holy sacrifice of the Mass is a "sacrifice" being presented to us again on a daily basis, and this sacrifice is outside space and time in a mystical and spiritual way because God is not limited in space and time, EVERYTHING TO HIM is an eternal event, and this is the only sacrifice pleasing to God The Father.
Why do you think St. Paul was instructing the Corinthians about The Eucharist if it is not an eternal sacrifice or just a mere "symbol".
(1 Corinthians 11:27), Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
    - And this was after Christ's Ascension.

Vs 54, "Whoever eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has eternal life; and I will
raise him up on the last day." Did He say to eat the symbol of His flesh?
Vs 55, Jesus said, "For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed."..
Vs 56, Jesus said, "He that eats My flesh and drinks My blood dwells in Me, and I in him."
Did He say, 'He that eats a symbol of My flesh...'. How can a mere symbol fulfill this promise?
Does only a symbol of Christ dwell in us? I thought GOD Himself dwelt within us, 1John 4:12-13.
Vs 59, This verse shows that Jesus taught this discourse to all the people.
Vs 60,They doubt a third time when many disciples said, "This is a hard saying, who can hear it"?
The Jews were instilled by many Old Testament verses, admonishing them not to consume blood.
See Deut 12:23, Lev 17:11and 14. They must have thought this was something akin to cannibalism.
Is this what you think too?
At any point did Jesus back down? Explain to me, if this chapter is symbolic, why did He not explain the symbolism to them?
Vs 61, Jesus did not back down, for He said, "Does this offend you?"
He knew their thoughts and He certainly knew the Old Testament verses about the consumption of blood.
In the next verse, He separated spiritual things from earthly things.
Vs 63*, Jesus said, "It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing. The words I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life."
Did He say He was speaking figuratively or in parables? This is the second verse detractors use to try to "prove" that Jesus spoke figuratively for the whole chapter. Did Jesus say "My" flesh? No, He said "the" flesh. What Jesus had said was, that we cannot accept this mystery if we accept it in too human a way, by having an earthly view of things. Those who can only think of cannibalism, are they not having an earthly view?
See John 3:6, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." Verse 63 means that we should not have a carnal human understanding of His words, but a spiritual understanding.
In John, chapter 6, Jesus had not only called the 12 Apostles, there was also much larger group of other disciples. Things seemed to be going pretty well. That is until Jesus said “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” This was too much for many of his disciples and “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” Jesus turns to the 12 and asks, “Will ye also go away? Simon Peter gives the same answer that I find myself saying to those who tell me I should leave the Catholic Church for this reason or that one, “Lord, to whom shall we go?” No matter what a certain priest does, no matter what scandals hit the church, despite whatever corruption or abuse of power might exist, and despite whatever mistakes the Church has made throughout history, “to whom shall we go?” for here is the body and blood of Christ given for a sinner as miserable as I.
Matt. 26:26-28; Mark. 14:22,24; Luke 22;19-20; 1 Cor. 11:24-25 - Jesus says, this IS my body and blood. Jesus does not say, this is a symbol of my body and blood.
Matt. 26:26; Mark. 14:22; Luke 22:19-20 - the Greek phrase is "Toutoestin to soma mou." This phraseology means "this is actually" or "this is really" my body and blood.
