  • Mayo Horsedrawn Caravan Holidays featured on 'Ear to the Ground', an Irish television documentary in 2009. It gives a great insight into a holiday with a horsedrawn caravan and some great video of the villages, people ans scenery in rural county Mayo, Ireland.

I come from a Gypsy/Traveller family and my maternal nan Olive who past away recently came from Southern Ireland (Eire, not entirely sure which county) and I grew up with the stories from her and my grandad Sam and how traditionally the boys of the family were only allowed inside the caravan to eat, wash, change clothes and at night (during the summer months) they slept in the net for the horses hay and a tarpaulin tent (during the winter months). I now have a 16yr old daughter. I think this is the perfect way to honour my nans memory and mine and my daughters heritage

Can't believe there's no comments yet. This looks like a great type of holiday would love to do it some day.

After the global systemic collapse perhaps more people will live mobile off the grid. In the US people live in cars. I live in Hungary. Perhaps I will do this also in the warmer seasons. I would choose for pack ponies so you can travel off road. It would be huculs or bosniaks.

Hi, we are living in the end times, the rapture and the 7year Tribulation are right around the corner. After the Tribulation people will start from scratch - but only born again Christians! How to become born again: thank JESUS CHRIST for paying for your sins on the cross and HIS resurrection on the 3rd day!!! It must come form the bottom of your heart and don't forget that JESUS is GOD, see John 1! Please study biblical end times prophecy and listen to Dr. Roger Liebi and Dr Ron Rhodes on end times chronology. Blessings from Canada
