Yes it's safe an it won't become undone on its own. You have to actually manipulate it at a certain angle for the buckle to become detached.

For that sized bag fully loaded, the strap will dig into your upper shoulder when using with light weight clothing.

@@mr_red13 have day sling3 as well day sling has more internal pockets, love them both, but bellroy sit close to your body can pack flat in a back pack, no regrets on both
